MLB The Show 16 News Post

If you've been on Twitter lately, you've no doubt been seeing Ramone Russell answer fans inquiries about why they were banned over the past couple of days.

Over the weekend, Ramone also posted in the SCEA Forums reiterating that breaking the rules and standards of the community could result in a console and PSN ID being banned.

Quote:
"If a player is found cheating, exploiting, harassing other players, or breaking the rules in game or here on The Show Nation forums, we will suspend the account for a limited time or even permanently ban the ID and console.

This isn't new and we've always been on the lookout for these types of players, but it's important to remind the community of the potential consequences that may await players if they decide to travel down the dark path."

Also of note via TheShowNation (Victor_SDS)

Quote:
There was an exploit related to cancelling transactions on the marketplace. If someone took advantage of this exploit egregiously, their ID would have been flagged and banned. Flipping cards on the market is not an offense. Buying and quick selling is not an offense. It had more process than just cancelling an order.

A number of players were banned in the past few days according to Ramone's Twitter Feed:

"We banned a number of users who exploited community market transactions. Bans will not be reversed, fyi flipping cards IS NOT an exploit.

Flipping cards doesn't get you banned, we encourage flipped cards, flipping cards is good for everyone."

Several users were quick to claim innocence but it appears Russell came armed with info, telling at least one user they were in the top 1% of offenders of the glitch. In fact, the SCEA investigation into the matter was three weeks long and involved multiple runs and checks of the same data.

This was a bold move by SCEA to protect the online gaming experience for many MLB The Show users. While bans are nothing new in the online gaming world, it does appear SCEA has taken some pretty dramatic steps in order to safeguard the online experience for gamers. While some of the bans are permanent, others are temporary and will last anywhere from days to weeks to months.

What do you think of the bans? Was SCEA right? Is this a good move?

There was a whole thread in here last year with people talking about it, it wasn't secret. Selling common cards last year for 500k-999k was the norm. The devs for the game even commented on it during one of their streams this year before the game came out. Many here benefitted from it, if you didn't fine, I never said EVERYONE.

looks like enough people put the pressure on the show. Either it's a blanket statement to calm the heat. Or they're looking into possible wrongly accused bans. Now everyone can finally get some sleep.

As someone that works for a Solicitor (Prosecutor) this is flat out not true

There were people on twitter saying "We should get rewarded for not abusing the exploit."

This is one of the most ridiculous comments I've ever seen. Scratch that, it is THE most ridiculous comment I've ever seen.

We are hitting new lows on The Show forum here at OS.

It absolutely blows my mind that people are expecting "repayment". I really hope that Jake guy is completely innocent and is one of the ones that falsely banned because if he's not.....oh man lol.

Also, the reward for not doing the exploit is about the most ludicrous garbage i've heard in a while. Self entitlement. It needs to be flushed down the toilet.

OK, first, sorry for my english! 1) I read this thread. 2) They banned me too. 3) I never use the online market on the computer with this exploits here discribe. 4) I write sony the last days 3 times. They said in the last e-mail, they ask one of the chefs of SSD. My bann is permanent, but they dont can tell me why. 5) i work with the marktplace every day since release 8 hours a day. 6) But what i do, and is this a cheat or farming? 6a) I have 2 x playstation 4 I have 2 x MLB the show 16 I have 2 x TV ( Sony ) My family has 2 correctly accounts. Now we played friend against friend excessive. Through this way it is not great problem to farm the points for the Missions. Is this cheating? It is the only possibility, why they banned me, because of this and excessive using the pack- and marktplace, that i now have a very heavy team after this 4 month. Thank you for answer and i dont no, if i banned next year for MLB The show 17 too? Much ???

I obviously do not know as I don't work for SCEA, but I doubt you are banned next year as well. I am thinking the ban will be for '16 only and everyone will start fresh in '17.

Thank you Countryboy, but it is not sure OK: In my opinion it is so: SSD look through the accounts. All people, who have very big teams and fullfilled so most of missons, are autmatic cheater. This is the easiest way or?

If you were being legitimate and not cheating then give Ramone and the folks over at SDS some time. They'll clear this thing up. They're good folks over there.

No, nor did I say that it was. I stated your comment was ridiculous. This question is almost just as ridiculous.

Let's not deviate from the thread.

Punishment varies by offense. Line 2 says ID's & consoles are on the table
