Madden NFL 17 News Post

Madden NFL 17 will feature a renewed focus on Franchise mode, all-new ball carrier feedback cues, defender fake out mechanics and an innovative, authentic defensive AI system.

As seen on the Xbox site, Rob Gronkowski appears to be the cover athlete, however that might be a placeholder. The first screenshots revealed are with him, Antonio Brown and Von Miller. Could we see all 3 on the cover or multiple covers? We will know for sure today at 6:00 PM ET on SportsCenter.

Please don't be Gronk, please. He's been unlucky enough, he doesn't need a Madden curse looming over him.

Good looking screens though.

Yeah im with ya on this. I dont mind those things being in game, if we can turn them off as well. Thats normally where EA messes up, not giving the option at times . Personally, i really wish they would let Commish of a league have league options when he sets it up. Why? So it only effects the players in that league. Our league required drive goals notifications to be turned off( because we think its cheesy to have something to entice you to play a certain way to gain more XP).

The issue is , guys play in numerous leagues, some play in other leagues that allowed it, but because it wasnt a league setting , owners in other leagues that wanted to use it in those leagues, had to turn it on and off again between each league game which is just dumb.Really wish a commish had an option for settings that would either lock everyone in on a thing, or allow each owner to pick their own choice for some ( like auto strafe ) .

Words sound good in the details there, however, as we all know, we have heard alot of that stuff before. So as Bill Cosby would say , the proof is in the pudding!

That's it. I am now officially excited to hear more. The fact that they mentioned franchise mode so early tells me that they feel good about this. Bring it on!!!

The Gronk cover on Xbox.com is not the cover

Everyone can relax about the equipment too, they could EASILY have added it along the way, until we hear something definitive on it I wouldn't just assume that new gloves or cleats is all we are getting. Think about it, if you make a big investment in something you wouldn't want to be found out by a screenshot not even directly from your company. I'm not surprised at all about the renewed focus on franchise mode, I knew that based on my time there last year and I've felt since then that 17 would do for CFM what 16 did for gameplay.

I'm gonna reserve my opinion on this until I see exactly what they mean. I think that it could be a good thing if it's like NBA2K/Live's "shot feedback". I can run the rock pretty good but I'd still like to know how the game views what I'm doing. But like you said, it should be able to be turned off if the cues are pop ups.

Man, I haven't been this pumped for Madden in years! Hopefully we get even more info on the game in the trailer.

Very excited about the franchise mode, I never like CCM since Madden 13 when it was first introduced, but good to see a few equipment upgrades but with a screenshot like that they would have completely won me over equipment wise with Brown having his mouthpiece in.But these are early screens so I'm still optimistic.

I'll play the wait and see game when concerning the ball carrier feedback. We already had it in a sense, it was just reserved for training and its probably best to leave it there. I hope the ball carrier feedback is a mechanic left out of online play as well.

I have listened to Rex's interviews over the years and I began to believe what he said starting after 16 came out. If he said CFM was an area that needed improvement for 17, I believed that area would see improvement.

I'm really interested in the defensive AI enhancement, sounds like Denver's D was an inspiration?

I think that is what will be the focus of the teaser/trailer. They had Antonio Brown and Von Miller in a couple months ago for some sort of shoot so I'd expect to see something similar to last year where they show a quick shot of Brown and then show the game and him making a juke or spin and then it will show Miller and a quick shot of something defensive. It's harder with a pass rusher but maybe showing him engaged and getting a strip sack or knocking down a pass while engaged. I wouldn't expect to see much more than cinematic shots though. They'll save the big reveal for their event.

"ball carrier feedback cues."

Seems a little confusing; a Cue is something given prior to an action, while Feedback is something given after an action.

I only hope, that if cues and feedback are required, the defense must be more intelligent; defensive fundamentals, especially in the areas of DL mechanics and pursuit lanes.

That's basically exactly what I thought of. Something that tells you to make a move as you're coming up on a defender. I think in the skills challenge there's a mini-game like that too so I don't know. If it means some new moves and animations that look good and play out realistically and the whole cue thing can be ignored then it sounds promising.

Yep, when i said we already had something similar in training, I was referring to the skill challenges. I just couldn't remember what Madden called their training mode.

That's how I feel about it as well without knowing much more. Hopefully it's something that's locked out of online play as well.

Hopefully the Drive Goals were scrapped...............Never made any sense to me for a team Sport where it's all about the "W"

No lipguard mouth pieces still...i guess ps2/xbox was way ahead of its time tech wise

Or maybe the option to turn off the goals? I am a huge proponent of options; the more the better.

And please let there be more camera angle options, or something of the sort. Something between standard and wide maybe. Plus more options for camera angles on defense; I would like to have camera angels on defense that give the same perspective as on offense...So a standard, wide view, for example, on top of the player lock.

I am thinking this trailer tonight needs a "wow" factor response like the other sports game trailers reactions.
