Seems pretty realistic to me. Baseball is a business and salaries go up every year because teams are able and willing to pay more.

I wouldn't have a problem with budgets going up if they money was used. If it is not used for contracts of players it just leaves huge surpluses. I've seen teams with surpluses of $70 million.

Really doesn't make sense to have budgets if they are not constrained to some extent and can sign anyone they want.

I'm really liking the fisheye zoom camera. Glad we have some historic stadiums. Hitting and fielding seem a bit smoother and more polished. Graphics looks nearly identical. I don't know how some people see a huge upgrade, or really any significant graphics upgrade. Maybe I need to play more night games. Nice step up from last year, sounds of the show should help keep this game fresh all year.

Very disappointed in the stat package. You can no longer see team stats which were normally at the bottom of the stat page. So if I want to see how Oakland does against lefties - I have to get out my abacus and start manually adding.

Also missing are SABR numbers that I used a lot and replaced with WAR which is nice but where is POP where is POP where is Base Out%. BB% is all zeros

VERY disappointed with the stats. Screens have a lot of wasted space - they could have more on one screen.

Also - can they make the fonts any SMALLER? Good lord I have to put on my magnify glasses and I have a 60 inch screen.

Is there ANY place I can see a teams stats? all in one place like last year? I hope there us some NEW place.

I'm pretty impressed so far. The graphics are great.

I am a little disappointed that it looks like BA splits were removed (I wanted to see what a certain batter was doing against LHP and couldn't find it)? Or am I just not looking in the right place?

Had high hopes when I first launched the game thanks to the many good reviews that have been posted the last few days. After some batting practise and my first couple of games, my honest feeling is one of slight dissapointment.

First off, the game sounds great, the sound of the bat hitting the ball brings a smile to your face. Crowd sound better too. Commentary hasn't been significantly improved but it's a bit fresher.

A lot of people have raved on about how good it looks...it does. Much better than 15? Meh, lighting is slightly better, crowd looks better at night as do the finer details such as dugouts etc. But the general overall visual improvements don't jump out at you. Noticed plenty of AA issues and long hair looks last gen IMO.

Framerate is a huge issue. I wont go into too much detail as I've posted about it in the 'stuttering' thread but if it's not sorted I'll regret buying this game I feel. Drops are present in cutscenes, gameplay, replays and graphical 'swipes' between cutscenes. Contrary to what some are saying the game isn't smooth, at all!

Animations are a lot smoother and have more variety, the players look great when fielding (if you can ignore the framerate drop).

There's a lot more variety in where the ball goes when hitting, which is great. The ball really jumps off the bat when you hit it clean too.

Pitching feels like it's got a bit more weight to it, which again is a plus.

7/10 for me. If how the game looks is a big deal for you and you haven't purchased the game, I suggest you hold out for a couple of weeks to see if they patch the framerate issues. If they don't it'll undo any good work they've done IMO. IF it's patched the game is almost perfect.

I REALLY dislike the line-up screens and the tiny little circles that you have to try to see who is getting tired! They have really made this game hard to manage. Circles BAD - lines GOOD. It's like they took the stuff that was working and easy to read and made it harder to see.

I might go back to 15 because the fonts are too small and the new graphic for managing the game are hard to read. The actual game play might be good but I spend as much time on the other screens and the graphic are not well managed.

I'm disappointed. For instance - trying to see what pitcher is tired was a major pain and looking at the batting line-up I could not tell who was and who was not tired unless I REALLY looked hard.

For as many things as they've added and improved(hitting, pitching, fielding, general graphical effects), they have made as many things that are now annoying the crap out of me. Several interface changes that are inferior, big framerate issue and the list goes on. I told my friend I was preordering the digital copy because I knew I wouldnt have buys regret and wouldnt need to sell it. So far I'm leaning towards 15.

I'm with half-fast on this. Now that I have played a few innings there are many good things but then there are many new annoying things that are seeming to counteract the goodness so it's a push.

Game looks much better but why is there so much lag online? It wasn't this bad in 15. Honestly feels like the online took a step back

I don't have the game yet but hearing about all of these frame rate issues has me concerned. I can't stand frame rate drops especially in my sports games. I was hoping the frame rate issues would've been ironed out by now being year 3 of the PS4 development cycle. Hearing this has me second guessing purchasing the game.

I honestly don't see the frame rate issues everyone is talking about. Maybe I'm not as sensitive.

Game is stunning.

Inexcusable that we should be having issues with frame rate. Online was terrible yesterday. Offline not near as bad but still noticeable enough to piss me off.

I was hyped as always for today, I pick up The Show every year and play it year round. I played 6 innings while the game installed and another quick game after that. The game plays great as always. I obviously need to take a lot more time to dive deep into the game. But my initial impressions? As some have pointed out already, the stutter during gameplay is KILLING me. How are we in year 3 on the PS4 and its still this bad? I played '15 more than I've ever played a video game in my life, and it wasn't near as bad as it is in '16. My hype is already killed. I'm sure I'll still play this game a bunch, unless the frame rate continues to bug the hell out of me like it is now. I'm pretty disappointed...

Right, but is the frame rate something they're going to be able to fix/patch? This is the impressions thread, my first impressions are that I'm disappointed in the way the game looks. It hurts my eyes everytime a ball is in play.

# 58 Grinder12000 @ 03/29/16 06:03 PM
They forgot to include Stolen Bases in their stats. Seriously? They have caught stealing and Stolen base % but no SB.

Hit a bullet into LF w/ donaldson, the ball 1 hopped right into Gardner's face out for the rest of the series with a black eye

There is definitely a difference in lag/frame rate depending on which park you play at. I played my first game at Wrigley and the lag was pretty bad. My second game was at US Cellular Field and it was a little better. Playing my third game right now at Miller Park and the game runs pretty darn smooth.
