NBA 2K16 News Post

NBA 2K16 patch #4 is available for PlayStation 4, weighing in at 2.4GB. The same patch is scheduled to be released for PC and Xbox One very soon. Once they release, we will update this post.

UPDATE: Patch #4 is available for PC and Xbox One now.

Check out the patch notes below and let us know what you are seeing!

GENERAL
  • Addressed a hang that can occur when editing/applying tattoos in Edit Player.
  • Resolved a bug where one or more users in a co-op game would lose control of their player at some point during the game.
  • Fixed a disconnect issue that some users were seeing during online games.
  • (PC) Fixed a corruption issue where some users were experiencing hangs, missing art assets, and infinite loads. Please ensure that your virus scanning software (e.g. Avast) whitelists your Steam folder/directory. This is required for new content to properly download and install.
  • Closed a loophole where the pause timer would stop counting down when sitting in the ‘Report Image’ flow.
  • Improved the user interface when applying contracts to players in MyTEAM by removing the display of how many contracts the player would have IF the current card was applied.
  • Fixed a case where the user accepting an online invite would sometimes skip the position selection screen in the way into matchmaking.
  • Headwear should now properly unequip when attempting to do so from within the MyPARK Apparel section of the store.
  • The player portrait will now update when a new user is signed in on the main menu via the account picker.
  • A number of other optimizations and enhancements have been made to improve the user experience.
GAMEPLAY
  • Teammate free throw celebration/interaction behaviors have been corrected.
  • Slightly tuned down the frequency of ball collisions.
  • Fixed an issue that led to a temporary loss of user control on possession changes while in the 2K Cam.
  • Tuned down the frequency of missed alley-oop and putback dunks when open.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed high rated post players to shoot post fadeaway 3's at a high percentage.
MyCAREER/MyPARK/MyCOURT
  • Fixed a rare issue where the game would hang when Doris Burke interviews your MyPLAYER at the end of the first half and/or at the end of the game.
  • The correct records and rep levels will now be shown for the players on the MyPARK loading screen.
  • Corrected the wall and floor art for the San Antonio Spurs theme in MyCOURT.
  • Fixed a case where some purchased shoes were not properly appearing on the shoe racks in MyCOURT.
MyGM/MyLEAGUE
  • Resolved a hang that could occur many, many years into MyGM when entering the offseason.
  • Generated players will now wear the correct color socks for away games.
  • Fixed an issue where generated players were getting their free throw animations randomized every offseason.
  • The Strengths/Weaknesses screen in Team Comparison should now be functioning properly once again.
NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves (unless specifically noted otherwise).

I remember before the game was released how 2K was pimping the smarter, improved defense this year. Should've known they would've used a cheap tactic like this.

are u on HOF?
i'm on superstar and has no prob with this. i actually quite like it. if only 2k can allow our cpu pg only to full court press that would be lovely.
is MCW quick in the crossover? he's so tall for a pg and i wonder if it hinders his speed from blowing past defenders.

this. went to try this out last night.
imo D. Will can still be effective getting past defenders. his signature moves has huge movements, so i would think he needs more space to work. On the second clip i struggled with CPU's sticky-like defense. i like to play easy and not so much on spaming the controls. so on the 3rd clip, i called for big man pick to attack.

Yeah man like I said, I've had to go back to the drawing board with some of my pet moves that aren't as effective anymore. Don't blame anyone for adjusting as needed ....

Here's some a I pulled off today though...

A simple move and a new cross I'm definitely adding to the holster

Smh at T Mo getting knocked over though

I also need to learn the game better. Bought the game at launch yet I still don't really know how to play the game.

Nice work man!

HAHAHA.... Love it... As this is the only team I use on the game because I rep where I'm from... Lol. You have to you his size ups because on SS sim it's to to just us regular cross with him to blow by plp.. His sig creates a lot of space 1 v 1.. Enough to chain his step back or pull up jumper as well.. Great vid send more lol.

I don't know if it would help but after all those steps, another stuff i did was to turn all psn notifications off. You may give it a try.

And also if your tv is 4-5 years old try to close every fancy feature that it advertises back in time as well. (Pixel plus, dnm etc.)

Do you think thats realistic though? Westbrook is a freak athlete but I wouldn't say he is fast enough to just blow by everyone all the time

I have noticed that big men are way stickier recently, I had K.Love on me guarding I think it was John Wall near the half court line, and I could get beside him but never fully past

Nobody is(on a consistent basis)but apparently every guard is since they all just "turbo past their man" without putting ANY work in at all.

Like I said, cheap, unrealistic defense.
Well...technically you can use your body to stop the forward progress of the ball handler or "ride" the ball handler if he's coming at you. You just can't hand check them. Depending on how hard the impact is, the angle, and from whom, it could be blocking OR charging foul.

Pretty much this. Guys just aren't blowing past people from a standing dribble all game...

My issue with the blocking fouls thing (in the actual cases they would be called), which I've heard many times before....is its like asking traveling to be called every time the game can't simulate a full dribble during an action...we're not there yet as far as basketball video games go....the game has to maintain balance.

Lol no it wouldn't and it has been proven time and time again.

i really think langston galloway played too much 2k. he fouled out by bumping celtics isiah too much. he was like "WTF".

i hate this type of play, dudes not even in a defensive stance just walking into you, around and around trying to knock the the ball loose, punk junk

Was wondering when you were going to bust out the "You don't watch NBA so it's obvious you don't know what the hell youre talking about" card.

And I know saying 100% was hyperbole, just like saying it's only called 1% of the time is hyperbole.

But continue on with the over exaggerations though. Always a pleasure to read.

To be fair...I think that's really them trying to get in defensive position in front of you. I lost count on how many times I attempted to front the ball handler, but I ended up behind the ball handler. Then I have to fight the stick for a couple of seconds to position my player in front of the ball handler before my opponent realizes he has an uncontested path to the paint.

# 517 BPM 81 @ 12/30/15 03:38 PM
i posted that in the wrong thread, this was meant for the other thread on this topic

and I can tell when a guy is trying to get position vs him just trying to knock the ball loose
no need to try and "get position" if i'm standing still

# 518 jfsolo @ 12/30/15 03:45 PM
Unfortunately so much of what is being discussed here about offense and defense, does not fall into the category of "basketball solutions" These are "2K solutions" which flies in the face of what our development team brethren talked about in the pre release blogs.

# 519 The 24th Letter @ 12/30/15 04:25 PM
I see it being a long while before that aspect of basketball video gaming (and we should remember that's what it is ) is figured out completely.....

# 520 Rockie_Fresh88 @ 12/30/15 08:21 PM
This game is calling the softest fouls ever!!! If the shot is too contest it's a foul smh
