Madden NFL 16 News Post


Madden NFL 16 title update #2 is available now for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It includes improvements and fixes to gameplay, Connected Franchise, Madden Ultimate Team, and more. Check out the details below.

GAMEPLAY
  • Addressed issue where if a team called a time out on the safety punt, they would then be able to kick a regular kickoff
  • Addressed issue where sometimes a defender would have a poor pursuit angle toward the ball carrier if the ball carrier was breaking a tackle during a catch
  • Addressed issue where sometimes defensive linemen would freeze for the remainder of the play after being knocked to the ground
  • Addressed issue where the defense would not adjust alignment if the CPU controlled offensive team enacted a concept audible
  • Updated Individual Coverage adjustments to not only affect the pre-snap shading but also the post play leverage technique
  • Addressed issue where adjusting the ZONE shading would have an effect on the defenders drop location instead of just the leverage technique
  • Addressed issue where cancelling a PA Fake would allow for a 1-step drop on certain plays
  • Addressed issue where the game clock would be restarted of a declined penalty after an incomplete pass
  • Addressed issue where safeties in Cover 4 Deep assignments were reacting to run too quickly
CONNECTED FRANCHISE
  • Addressed issue where defensive holding slider would reset when exiting the screen
  • Addressed issue where accelerated clock would not work in H2H CFM games
  • Addressed issue where visual feedback settings were pulling from the user’s profile instead of league settings
  • Addressed issue where some settings would carry back to the FE after playing a CFM game
  • Addressed issue where the CPU would retain an empty roster spot when simming to the regular season when there is a player on Injured Reserve (note: changes aren’t reflected until after your current season is finished)
  • Addressed issue where the user could not sort player while in the Fantasy draft board
  • Removed Kick Return as a scoutable trait (note: changes won’t be reflected until after your current season is finished)
  • CFM Trade tuning
  • Addressed issue in CFM H2H where uniforms would change back to default home/away even after changing them in the team select screen
  • Addressed a rare issue that caused some Franchise files to be corrupted, preventing players from accessing their CFM (note: this won’t repair already corrupted files, and only prevents future occurrences)
MADDEN ULTIMATE TEAM
  • MUT Play a Friend quarter length boosted to four minutes from two minutes
  • In MUT H2H Seasons and Draft Champions H2H Draft, terminating the game during the load screen will give the quitter a loss and the opponent a win. In MUT, Contracts will still be removed.
OTHER
  • Play Now games were using regular season overtime rules rather than playoff overtime rules (removed possibility for ties)
  • Addressed issue in online games where the defensive timer would run out during a pause causing the game to auto pick the defensive play
  • Addressed over 100 general bug and stability issues

I played 4 games last night, the confidence does seem tweaked but I'd like to play more. My main concern is what i saw in those 4 games out of the QB's and the DB / WR

Granted I play the Bears and my first 4 games were GB, Arizona, Seattle and Oakland. Every opposing QB had a 75 or better completion percentage with QB Sliders at 30 after the first game where Rodgers was 90%

Most concerning was my DB's were rarely in position to make a play on the ball. Before this patch in my other CFM's while my DB's still sucked they were at least in an area when I could hit A or Y to try something. In the 4 games I played last night the WR were routinely open by 5-10 yards. I couldn't even get a guy in position to make a play.

I double teamed Nelson on GB several times and watched him run right by 2 defenders who did a little shuffle and then tried to catch him.

I'll play more game and see what is going on, perhaps delete the tuner file and reinstall. All of that seems like hocus pokus at this point.

I just ant the damn game I played in early access, that game played great smh.

Hi guys,
I'm on Xbox One and I downloaded Madden at the release day; since then I downloaded the tuner and the 1st patch..I didn't have yet the chance to play the game since the patch 2 was released. Now, my questions are:

1) kind of stupid but..if I delete the game from my console can I download it again from the store for free (since I paid for it at the release day?)
2) when I download the game will it come already with the tuner and the patch 1 and 2?

Interesting. It really makes me wonder how it works then because you've played two games and I played two games and literally got every drive goal except one or two on the offensive side of the ball in two games and only got +1 in both games. Maybe there are three possibilities for drive goals throughout the game, one drive on offense and defense for a chance at +1 CON and then one drive on either in addition to that for +1 CON for the whole team or something.

Either way, I'll continue using the 32-team control I'd planned on before the game even dropped and hope they don't "fix" drive goals for that. Hopefully someone can lock down exactly how this stuff works or we can get an official explanation.

Any game you purchase digital you can always re-download. Well until the world ends and Xbox live is no more.

I would assume you will need to redownload the patches, tuner tc.

Hopefully in a future patch they'll give us an option to turn off confidence entirely. I highly doubt it though. I've just finished my first season with Drive Goals off and I've got three O-Lineman at 99 Confidence. A lot of the CPU teams are like this as well and I think it has to do with so many offensive goals feeding into OL. I just wish there was a way to not have to deal with all this stuff.

Was hoping this patch fixed the QB cam issue in CFM but it looks like it didnt... Also seems like the gameplay is alot faster and jerky now. I have my settings at slow but its moving like normal to fast.. Anyone else seeing this?

that's interesting, i felt like the game was playing a bit heavier and a tad more sluggish. that must have been wednesday night.

i restarted my cfm yesterday, played week 1 with the new roster file. i tell you, it was the most realistic feeling game i think i've ever played. i was playing the texans, they did however complete like 72% of their passes.

Maybe I need to tweak my slider set again. Gameplay always seems altered after patches for some reason..

Yeah confidence really affects this game in a negative way. I think it should be capped at 50 personally. At this point I'm hoping for a madden editor if that is even possible.

I held brady to under 60% at halftime with the new patch on all-pro default.

Yeah I never see the 75-90% passing like other people are seeing with QB slider at 50... It varies from 72 and under for the most part...I think the key to QB play is the line play.. If you can get the pass rush to around 3-4 secs QB results will be more realistic.. I had mine almost perfect before the tuners and patches now it’s difficult to find that median again..

Does anyone else still experience random freezing when transitioning from the end of a franchise game back to the franchise Home screen?

this was happening to me. i had madden saved on an external HD, moved it back internal, and the problem went away.

Keep playing. In my experience the first few games plays almost the same as play now. Then it become more "scripted" feeling. I guess because confidence start doing his "magic"

I'll weigh in with a positive impression of the 2nd patch.

When I first got the game, I played on default All Pro in the Play Now menu, and I got more competitive games on default than I'd ever gotten. I was in fact about .500 in played games vs. CPU in Play Now, but when I took to CFM, All Pro felt nerfed and I had trouble getting competitive games.

I've since gone back into CFM and play-tested default All Pro, along with several other slider combos, and for some reason, I'm now getting much more diverse and competitive games at default within CFM. The game experiences now seem identical between Play Now and CFM, which hasn't been the case for some time.

I'm not sure what to attribute this change to, but I haven't lost a game inside of CFM on All Pro more than 10% of the time in about 50 games played before Patch #2, whereas I lost my first 2 games post-Patch #2 on default All Pro inside CFM.

Interesting, and as far as I'm concerned, positive!

The way drive goals are know there is really no different for your STARTERS while having them on or using the work around. But the issue is your backups still can get boost when you get that plus one and since they don't lose points for playing bad or for a lose and what not at the end of my full season some backups where at 58 conf for not really doing much. I seen that pic where a guy got plus 2 using drive goals and I played 16 games and never seen that. Hell I only got plus one 5 times all season from them. I wonder if skill level has to do with it. I play on all pro and all madden and tested those and never had plus 2 and most times didn't even get one. Is the drive goals perfect? No way. Can it be fun? Yes for sure if you are into it. Thanks to all that found a workaround for them when they where way op. Some still don't like them but that happens to almost all new things in games. The hardcore fan base doesn't want it in there. I am a hardcore ncaa and madden player. I would call my self sim. Meaning I like stats to be close to real as I can get it. I haven't found that to not be the case with this patch of the drive goals. It works fine plus I like the xp I get from them. I will tell you, there are some that I do not even go for tho. The game comes first. I still complete around 8 out of 10 a game tho. I will say this, if you love the work around then just keep doing that. I feel drive goals are for the more causual player in my apinion and that's why some many hardcore players don't like it. There skill set is above them. They don't need th extra xp and conf.

Has anyone noticed improvement to ratings increase or decrease. since the conf. change didnt really get announced, maybe the end of season rating increase and decrease are better?
