Power Pros 2016 News Post

Baseball fans, don't be sour. Look above, and feel the power! It's a new day on PlayStation 4, yes it is! For the first time in the platform's short history, Konami is bringing one of their two Nippon Professional Baseball games to PS4. Power Pros 2016 is targeting a Spring 2016 release in Japan on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, and that's all we really know about the game right now, based on an official press release that contains one teaser screenshot.

A new version of Pro Yakyuu Spirits is also being made for iOS and Android, and that product is far enough along in development that Konami has posted a pretty detailed trailer to their Japanese YouTube channel:

Pro Yakyuu Spirits Ace should be available on phones and tablets sometime in 2015, according to the above video. Konami's also uploaded lots of in-game screenshots and a few paragraphs describing Ace's game modes on its Japanese webpage.

Its a shame PYS isnt coming, its possibly my favourite game on PS3 and a reason I havent got a PS4 yet. But even if its a similar engine somehow the little blobs of limbs dont do it for me

Look at ebay from time to time I managed to get 15 a little while after release for about 40 USD!

This one for example, its almost 2 times cheaper than play asia.

I know even the Power Pros has better gameplay than The Show, Im just not too keen on that style and get annoyed after a while

Has anyone done anything in PYS15 similar to SpiritTranslation CPU pitch analysis? Its there for PYS12 and Hard-minus is considered a good CPU pitching difficulty as Normal-plus produced almost no balls. So naturally thats what I always kept it at in 13,14 and 15.

Now I was trying to practice a real game hitting a bit more so dropped it to Normal-plus and there was actually a realistic amount of balls. But of course considerably more center zone strikes with the occasional corner painting.

I actually tried this a while back - despite the fact that the "test" is flawed on so many levels that it is pretty wothless!!

I had always played on hard minus but after they introduced the guess pitch I found the number of ball/walks dropped so I upped it to hard.

The one time I did it I used Maeda with normal morale and it was totally bizarre, in the third inning he walked 3 batters then the dreaded flashing red line appeared and he proceeded to walk in 3 runs!!

Here are the pics from the game:

Interesting ... from the spread it doesnt seem too bad.
So did you revert back to hard-minus?

In games previous to 2015 hard minus would give best release % of around 15-18% for the cpu pitcher with 2015 the % is closer to 40% but there are more pitches down the middle. I kind of like this approach as it simulates how a player in real life generally gets one good pitch to hit but if you miss it or guess wrong good luck hitting those best releases or at least for me it's good luck.

I agree about the test of hard minus as in a real game you aren't taking every pitch so right there things will change once prove you can hit one over the plate. The cpu would have no reason to throw more pitches out of the zone if you kept taking them all for 27 k's.

Ok just saw Jimbo's pic and best release was 37%, in the 2014 game it will be closer to half that. Had to chuckle at the "Maeda with normal morale" comment, where have we been reading about morale lately.

I checked last night, at least I think I was in the right location and the only baseball game I could find was Baseball Stars.

Nope, have kept it on hard and I'm pretty happy with it.

On hard- I felt there were too many meatball pitches, especially when you faced either a poorish pitcher with normal/good morale or even an excellent pitcher with poor morale.

Oh and I play with guess pitch off - in case that makes a difference.

To be fair the show has "borrowed" quite a few things from PYS over the years!!

I dont use guess pitch either. Cool, will try hard instead of hard- next time I bump it up.

Played a match tonight against the Seibu Lions with Kazuhisa Makita starting on the mound - side arm / submarine delivey rated 75 with a smiley face morale and these were the results on hard setting.

(Total pitches including relievers then just the starter pitching results.)

thanks for posting these.

Im not sure why maybe I dont practice enough but PS3 controller has really sensitive sticks and I have a hard time sometimes to precisely move them to the ball location, especially upper part of the zone.

I was thinking about getting a PS4 controller for my PS3, can someone who has used both please comment on the stiffness of the sticks?

Thank you

Well if nothing else Konami is still updating the 2015 game with LIVE fixes. I'm not exactly sure what the issue was but they have fixed it so at least they are still looking after the game.
