Power Pros 2016 News Post

Baseball fans, don't be sour. Look above, and feel the power! It's a new day on PlayStation 4, yes it is! For the first time in the platform's short history, Konami is bringing one of their two Nippon Professional Baseball games to PS4. Power Pros 2016 is targeting a Spring 2016 release in Japan on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, and that's all we really know about the game right now, based on an official press release that contains one teaser screenshot.

A new version of Pro Yakyuu Spirits is also being made for iOS and Android, and that product is far enough along in development that Konami has posted a pretty detailed trailer to their Japanese YouTube channel:

Pro Yakyuu Spirits Ace should be available on phones and tablets sometime in 2015, according to the above video. Konami's also uploaded lots of in-game screenshots and a few paragraphs describing Ace's game modes on its Japanese webpage.

Funnily enough Konami recently announced that the online features for PYS 2015 would shut down on March 31st 2016!!

Hopefully this means a 2016 version will be out around then but I'm not sure if it would make much sense to release two baseball games at around the same time!!

Might be we have to wait....

Btw if you haven't played Power Pro then don't let the cartoon nature fool you.... it's a very good baseball simulator!!

I still play the 2014 version and I was actually going to post a video in the ball physics thread for MLB The Show but didn't want to be accused of trolling!!

The game has pretty much the same settings as PYS so you can make it as hard/easy as you like and going by the pics the new version looks like it will be quite an upgrade!!

Oh and here's the video, I was going to pots that demonstrates a hit down the line... the replay towards the end of the video shows it beautifully!!

Never have played the japanese versions only the wii version.

Nice double down the line for sure, the show could learn a thing or two about that, very lacking in that game. Not sure what exactly but something there is out of whack.

One other thing, I could be mistaken but is it possible to edit names in that game to english, so when they come up to bat you could see who it is.

Pretty sure there is a change name option though I have never done it myself!! Seem to remember somebody once creating some MLB teams in one of the older versions!!

The guys over at Spirits translation always recommend doing this but I've never felt the need (yet)!!

They actually have a second website for Power Pro translations:

The website for the free to play 'Success' version of Jikkyou Power Pro 2016 is now up and it will also be available for PS4/PS3/Vita!!

I'm guessing this is something different than the usual mobile version but as mentioned previously it will have micro transactions etc.

Were you able to navigate around the menus ok? Similar to PYS? I'll have to keep it in mind this spring and it will be a for sure buy esp. if there is no PYS 16.

Having played previous versions it wasn't too bad, especially with the help of the power pro translations site and Google translate!!

Just wish I could understand things like the Success and My Life parts better/easier as they look so much fun!!

they could be doing the same thing with PYS they did with this bringing it to FOX engine and skipping spring then releasing it in fall. This was a fall 2015 release but delayed till spring. With Power Pros built into the FOX engine all they need is to bring in the player models for PYS. They are very similar games.

I still believe PYS will live on. Nothing has been posted anywhere saying they let PYS go. Why would they it's more $$.

Ok I've heard of the fox engine (used in PES) but that's about all I know about it. What exactly is different about it from the old engine and your saying this Power Pros uses it?

Would the manual for success mode in the Wii version help with this at all, have you ever looked into it?

it's Konami's new game engine, probably the best out there, Hideo Kojima's team made it for MG5.
The impressive thing about it is how good the performance is for how good it looks.
"EA's frosbite engine is close but doesn't get the performance, used in the new Rory Mcilroy PGA tour"
Power Pros is using FOX now, that's why it looks so good and physics should improve also.
This is what i love about Konami baseball games smooth as butter game play. Unlike MLB the Show running barely at 30fps.
I bet PYS is under development now to the FOX engine. Konami will do better sales from it.

Oh man I hope your right and it's releases. Either way think I'll grab this game as well. I remember the wii power pros and it had a lot of fun factor.

that's what japanese focus on is fun over GFX. Unlike SCEA with the show. That's the whole problem with the show game play is boring.

Straight from last years news letter in march. "KONAMI will continue to develop and distribute a wide range of baseball-themed games, to deliver the pulse-pounding excitement of the sport to an ever-increasing customer base."

Success mode is basically Road to the Show with more story and off-field events. It's always been tough for non-Japanese speakers to get much out of it due to the large amount of untranslated text.

The paid version is the one most people on here should be interested in, since that includes a season mode with no story elements to worry about and team management options that are easily translated.

# 37 vidgames @ 01/21/16 03:32 PM
Will it be in english?

# 38 jyoung @ 01/21/16 04:02 PM
No, but there will likely be translations for the menus a few days after release on spiritstranslation.com

Konami have just announced their third quarter figures and there was still no mention of PYS in their pipeline release dates.

Looks like they are either keeping it under their hat or we are looking at an autumn release.

Then there's the worst case scenario!!

Well I for one am picking up the new Power pros game when it comes out this spring. It's 10x better than anything else out there that's for sure.
