Power Pros 2016 News Post

Baseball fans, don't be sour. Look above, and feel the power! It's a new day on PlayStation 4, yes it is! For the first time in the platform's short history, Konami is bringing one of their two Nippon Professional Baseball games to PS4. Power Pros 2016 is targeting a Spring 2016 release in Japan on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, and that's all we really know about the game right now, based on an official press release that contains one teaser screenshot.

A new version of Pro Yakyuu Spirits is also being made for iOS and Android, and that product is far enough along in development that Konami has posted a pretty detailed trailer to their Japanese YouTube channel:

Pro Yakyuu Spirits Ace should be available on phones and tablets sometime in 2015, according to the above video. Konami's also uploaded lots of in-game screenshots and a few paragraphs describing Ace's game modes on its Japanese webpage.

2014 was the year they introduced the same pitching mechanic as PYS - the shrinking circle.... before that it was all just one button pitching!!

That alone makes 2014 the better game!!

Thanks, I had read something about that but wasn't quite sure.

Guess I'll just wait for 16 then. Wish they would add a solid release date, by not it's looking more and more like a very late spring release.

My recent concern is whether PYS 15 for Vita has slow down issues like on 14...

I find it hard to believe that no developer or company, Microsoft, is willing to purchase the Pro Yakyuu Spirits engine from Konami and make a MLB game out of it. It would be a shame to see it go to waste, especially since Konami has practically given up on it on consoles.

Likely because Konami will continue to use it with Power Pros. It is more or less the same game just with different characters.

How sad is it that there will not be a single handheld baseball game released in the US this year! IMHO Konami makes the best baseball games but they've never given us a game with the same amount of effort that they put into their Japanese series.

Come on Konami, show U.S. some love!

Pro Yakyuu Spirits is in development for PS4 just like Jikkyou Pawafuru Puro Yakyu.

When was Jikkyou Pawafuru Puro Yakyu usually released?

Um it hasn't been announced at all.

So, I got really hyped by this. But is anyone else concerned that it only mentions a Japan release date? Does this mean they're only releasing this in Japan, as has been tradition since the 2007/2008 releases of the series in the US?

Yeah the only announced version of Pro Spirits right now is for cell phones. A console version has not been announced yet.

Yes, this is a Japan-only release. You can still play the game on American systems though because Sony's consoles are region free.

With the exception of 2015 when no version was released, the past few years has seen Jikkyou Pawafuru Puro Yakyu being released in October.

And if my memory serves me right, before that it was a July release with the Ketteiban version released in December.

PYS has nearly always been a March release.
