For me these are some core things that should definitely be tuned.

1. The absolutely ghastly offensive rebounding for both User and CPU. The numbers are really low, mostly because of the lackluster animations that play out when players go for the offensive boards. Players attack defensive boards with supreme effort, on the offensive glass they barely put an arm up, and hardly jump. This is very poorly tuned.

2. Dumb User team A.I. on defense both in transition and in the half court set. I just want the teammates on my team to play as well as the CPU team does. The worst is giving up several layups a game off of missed free throws because they have no idea how to match up in transition. Also players on the weakside wandering in the paint for no reason and giving up open 3's despite the defensive setting that are applied. The low defensive ratings and IQ seem exaggerated for the User team.

3. This one has been talked about ad nauseam. Bigs and poor defending smalls being too good on the perimeter for the CPU team. They aren't just playing angles, using length, and gaping you, they're in your jersey and moving laterally like First Team All-Defensive players.

4. This one is maybe most distressing because it is a long stand legacy issue and may not be able to be tuned. CPU opponent players getting 90% of the 50/50 balls every game. They just have preternatural awareness of loose balls while the User team flounders around stupefied.

I hope these things get addressed at the default levels before I have to adjust the sliders.

No. 4 has been a pet peve of mine for a while. If they can address that I think this game will be as close to perfection as I could ever expect in a sports game (imo). I'll have a loose ball right in front of two of my players, they will stand there while I cpu player comes from 6 feet away and pick the ball up. You can take control but the rebound button doesn't work because the ball is on the floor ( I'm guessing ). Hmm I may play with the hustle slidder. First slidder I've considered adjusting other than lowering speed to 45. That says alot. This game is NICE!

First off, let me say that I love this game. I play on Hof Sim but something does actually feel a little off. I turned on the grading to see why I am missing some of my Iso jumpers although i'm creating the space for it. I believe that the shot contesting impacts iso jumpers a little too much. I've had guys get crossed trying to jump back into the play with my release right at the line and receive D grades. Some go in, and some don't but i feel that most of them miss as long as the defender gets his hand up. I love the fact that we can't just get by the cpu every single time for a layup/dunk (keep it that way).

In terms of creating space on jumpers, i do feel that if a guy is in recover mode, it shouldn't always feel like Tony Allen. When that space is somehow created after getting the D off of you, the percentage of that shot going in should be a tad higher depending on release. Right now, I can have Mike Dunleavy guard any wing and not even have to think to double if i'm playing off ball D.

I love the post game and off ball movement. Moving the ball and finding the open man for catch and shoot is lovely. I just that for someone like myself who beats the cpu off the dribble on Hof somewhat often, the cpu shouldn't effect my shot as much as they do. When i really break ankles and pull up, sure i can get the A's and B's but if you observe the actual times you create space, it happens too often where the grade and makes don't add up with the space/type of shot you take.

I've missed a bit of green releases even from near the basket. Made my heart drop but loved it. Still the best basketball game I ever played.

Gameplay feels alooooooot more organic. And i havent noticed really any player shifting. Really am impressed. Couple nitpicks would be no audio at halftime of a play now offline game, they need to address that. And players warping through bottom of basketball hoop stand where the padding is at. But overall really like how smooth it plays. Definitely a must have.

No bullet passes by the PG into the paint. Just good basketball.

Dude, this game is freaking awesome. Couldn't hold out any longer and started a MyGM with the Knicks. If a patch or solid league sliders come about I'll start over with a different team, but my God, was my first game against the Bucks a thriller.

Playing on SS/Sim is a healthy challenge. I went back and forth with the Bucks. Going up by 6, being down by 7 and ultimately losing by 3 in overtime. None of it felt cheated, anytime I sagged off too hard or drifted away from a defender, they caught me.

Tie game at 113 in OT. They run a down screen for Middleton. I cover the screen with Lopez but don't fully run out to cover Middleton on the perimeter. Something told me to charge him fully, but I was a bit scared he might drive so I stayed back a little. Wrong decision. Middleton sprayed the three giving me 2.2 seconds to put up a 3 with Melo and he missed. But the back and forth, up and down, cluster of a game was very satisfying to play. Nothing about this game felt cheesy or predetermined. It was just good solid video game/sim basketball.

Don't expect this game to be perfect, but if you play it like it's supposed to be played and find out how to get buckets and make a few stops, it'll always be fun!

Excited about this game man. Too much fun!

is it like this every year with NBA2k comments.
i see either absolute praise or total disgust here.
this seems like the most polarizing version yet.
also, what are the gatorade items for in MyCareer?

I've had the game since tip off release and I must say that this may be the best 2k since 2k11 loving the Rim and net physics

On ball defense is so much better

The online is well balanced

I'm just overall satisfied Good Ish 2K!

For a guy that just received his Xbox One last week... I was blown away at the graphics when it came up..

Because it was taking forever to install, I decided to play some College hoops on the 360, getting the draft classes ready, playing in my Legacy, in the middle of the NCAA Tournament then BLAM...2016 is finally in my house as the game is playable finally.

I couldn't believe the jump, felt like those cable versus DirecTV ads..

Still getting the hang of it but there is SOO MUCH TO DO IN MYGM.. like what! Usually I would be done with a season by now but NOPE..Got to Deny and Coddle every player so the owner is happy.

Craziness....

Can you change simulation quarter length in MyCareer this year? They left that option out last year.

Game Level PRO/SIM

CPU/HUMAN Anything not mentioned is default or your preference

ON-Ball DEF 20/20
Help Defense strength 80/80

DEF Awareness 80/50
OFF Awareness 80/50

Look for Post players 85/50
Post Shots 80/50

Thats really about it. I messed a bit with quickness and some other things, but that should be a decent base if your ego can take playing on PRO.

I won’t give my impression of this iteration of 2K. I’d rather share with you my actions since Friday, September 25th.

Cancelled my pre-order of Call of Duty:Black Ops 3
Cancelled my subscriptions to EHarmony, Match and Zoosk
Cancelled my gym membership
Quit my job and moved back into my parents basement

Thank you 2K, I’m holding you liable for my actions.

I disagree. There is hardly any disgust maybe 5% and I wouldn't use the word disgust to describe how that few percentage of people feel. It seems more to have to do with the change in controls and the fact they can't play the game well. Or because they don't like the Spike Lee story and the fact that there character is white and there sister is black. It has nothing to do with the amazing gameplay, graphics, or features this game provides. I can almost guarantee those vocal few in a couple of weeks when they have a better grasp of the controls will be here heaping praise on this game and saying how wrong they were. NBA 2K16 should be judged the same way Leftos Mike Stauffer has created the rating system this year on an All-Time great basis and if judged that way NBA 2K16 is a perfect 10 and not only the greatest basketball game ever made but the greatest sports game ever made based on it complete package from A-Z.

A bit further into MyCareer now, and my initial great impression has become tainted with some issues which I hope can be patched or something:

The 2K15 virus is sneaking up again - as you become higher rated, your teammates become dumber, inversely proportional. When I started out my first (aka 2nd season), my offense were really good, and I really enjoyed seeing my team playing great ball without me doing everything. Now I feel that I have to take charge again (the odd Curry 3pt flurry notwithstanding), which is not easy without the OCC badge. And I'm a 6'8 SF on the Warriors. It almost makes me hate playing with several of my "pass when you're covered but not when you're open" teammates (yes I'm looking at you Barbosa).

The CPU long range fg% is too high, I miss a lot of open shots which I'm perfectly fine with, realistic and all blah blah, but when the CPU sinks an unreal amount of long range 2pt/3pt, contested or not, it just makes the fg% "realism" a slap in the face (they do somewhat "fix" the final box score while you're subbed out though by obviously bricking everything except FTs). I do not hit more long range shots with 14 in jump shot than I did with 2 as an outside scorer, and I won't even think about deadeye this year. If I should feel the urge to play as a complete donkey for double the amount of games as last year, well remind me to consider how valuable our short time on this earth is. If the ultimate goal is to have super realistic fg%, why have releases at all? You could as well have "tap to shoot" then and let the computer automatically miss 70% of your shots, assuming that nobody misses on purpose. But as said, I'd gladly shoot 30-40% long range as long as the CPU scrubs does it as well, which they don't.

The CPU defense is much better, but that is only valid for the opposing team. Your defense is as dumb as ever, not even contesting shots and standing still while leaving shooters wide open and constantly letting attackers blow past them (which of course equals an automatic hit). This makes it very little rewarding for you to play good defense. I just had a Durant-less OKC drop 122 on me, on ROOKIE.

The passing feels so slow, like pre-patch 2K15. This may or may not be because I only have 8 in playmaking so far, but as far as I remember upgrading this didn't speed up the passes last year. I also have problems adapting to the new alley-oop passing, but that's probably just me.

The stat caps are too harsh, I am next to useless in transition defense with 16 in athleticism as a 220lbs SF. While the speed itself isn't the biggest problem I have the acceleration and turning circle of a small house, and it's so much harder to get past defenders that in 2K15 (the latter isolated being a good thing, but not because you're a hippo). I understand that this is a necessity for online play, but I don't think it belongs in MyCareer. I can't even unlock several of the dunk packages as they demand higher driving dunk than I ever can achieve. This is silly for strictly offline players, it is a game after all. Especially for PC players who have absolutely no interest in playing pre-pubertal lobstermen online. Better yet, give us sliders in MC, they're present in MyGM, what's the difference?

Why does the mode kick off in the 2016-17 season (not counting the 8 games in your Spike Lee-infused so called rookie season)? This is a borderline game breaker. Without being able to edit rosters for MC this is not a very good design decision, what good is it to proclaim "all rosters are correct as of July 2015" when they're already outdated when your real career or the real 2015 season begins? I'd rather they pushed the rookie season back one year, it wouldn't matter to the story in any regard.

The "hold ball too long" is too strict, it doesn't seem to account for what you're actually doing. I got a hold ball too long while driving and after pixel-perfect assists. And automatic fadeaways with opponents BESIDE you, but this issue seems to have regressed.

The game has so many great things about it, lots of improvements and attention to details, and the whole package is so good that it makes it sadder that some of these issues are still there. It's really an emotional rollercoaster to play, from really enjoying fluid gameplay to abrupt WTF controller-smashing moments, I can't afford to play at SS/HoF this year at $60 a pop. And I don't even feel like attempting many of the badges, which was probably the intention of the capping. I'm fine with that. But I am not tempted to spend hundreds of hours to become an above-average MyPlayer. This is a game, leave the excessive capping/nerfing/CPU cheesing to the masochists on SS/HoF. That's the point of having different difficulty levels, right? I have no shame in dropping to pro or even rookie if that's what giving me the most fun, even if I was able to regularly blow out the CPU on SS and give it a hell of a match on HoF last year. And when they have removed the last drop of interaction with your team(mates), I fear that the shelf life will be much lower than with 2K15.

..aaaand breathe.

I don't know man... The negatives seem pretty few and far between. I think the term "universal praise" is pretty accurate here.

to say there is hardly any still admits there is
and it is extreme enough in some comments
to say they are disgusted with this version.
but i have to admit your assessment is most
likely correct that attitudes will change soon
once people adjust to the gameplay changes.
