We still can't play normal 5 on 5 game online? C'moooooon 2k! I can't believe that they can't fix such a important part of the game. Fifa games works perfectly online and also 2K games worked great 5 on 5 online in the past.

Lag online seems WAY lower than past years

Could be due to the improved responsiveness on D but i have never felt that with a good defensive matchup that im just getting unrealistically blown past or zig zagged

Pre Ordered this game from cdkeys.com with dlc for 20 bucks last week. Unreal deal.

Game is amazing, just downloaded it on steam and played it a bit. Graphics are a nice leap forward this yr.

I feel like the CPU opponent still gets 90% of the "50/50" balls. That kind of thing loses games for you.

I know right it makes no sense to me. why is everything built into the server? i always wondered why, is it because of the VC? Whatever they are doing with the money from the VC needs to be put in the right place.. ONLINE STABILITY!! haha

Yeah I kind of get what you're saying with that, maybe it's the foot planting, cause I played with D Rose against cp3 and I didn't have much work to do, but against kyrie there was a difference. I had more progress not going full throttle on the turbo out of my crossover more playing a guessing game if you say. That is until the defense realized it and started to close out on me forcing me to kick out to a open defender.

Did they put the difficulty level on steroids this year? I am finding it impossible to be competitive on the stock difficulty level. Can't hit gimme lay ups and the CPU can drive at will and make contested shots with ease.

So damn frustrating.

Kobe can trigger some crazy free throw line dunks like it's 2002. They need to seriously chill with that.

Feels like they sped up the shooting releases overall.

They removed the face up drive.

MWP is done (so good to have him in the game already though).

Lot more zip to passing.

Players take smaller steps, improves the spacing a lot.

Since defense was the better part of the focus plus better adaptive artificial intelligence according to developers' blogs, I believe it is great that default difficulty is more difficult. It is only right. Why do gamers continue to want to "dominate" so to speak in the first week of release. It's a brand new game. It's going to take time to adjust. Make your $60 purchase ... count and worth the investment.

You can overcome challenges...but there's no way to overcome the boredom of beating an easy CPU.

This is the first time I have played 2k basketball and never once have I felt cheated. If a steal happens I know it was my terrible passing. If I missed a shot, I knew I was forcing it. My last 2k game was 2k14 ps4. There were psychic defenders in 2k14. Missing shots because it was that same animation playing out under the rim.

This is finally the year where any mistakes made is on me .... Truly "my bad."

It was frustrating play past 2k basketball due to the above reasons. This year, I have absolutely no frustrations whatsoever. I know I have terrible stick skills, but ball movement has allowed me to be competitive on default. I think I may need to bump up my skill level to all star and for the first time ever, hall of fame. I would never dare upping it to hall of fame in past 2k. This year might be the year I finally go hall of fame...but developers have stated the best simulation experience is anything below hall of fame.

Just played my first game last night has I didn't have time to play the game yesterday has it took like 4 and a half hours for the disk to install. First game me lakers vs pels I lost by 31 on pro sim. AD had like 16 points and 18 rebounds after a slow start he finished like 6-17 from the field. He started like 1-9 from the field. The block shoots are great I think there was like 8 or 9 blocks between the 2 teams and they looked very realistic. I noticed the CPU is still to good at breaking up passes like years past. I need to play more before I can really say much. Am I the only one that has always found NBA 2k games to be really hard? I know more about basketball them any sport yet I find pro hard ever year. I can score but I cant stop the CPU from scoring with out making adjustments to the sliders. I think NBA 2k is the hardest sports game. MLB the show I play on all star and madden all pro. So on those 2 games I play on the 3erd difficulty and NHL I play on pro the second difficulty yet the sport I know about the most basketball I can only play on pro. I have no idea how any one plays these games above pro.

I now suck at this game. In a good way. Against a good defensive team like Cleveland, my offense was stuck in mud as GSW. A lot of it is simply because my offense fu is weak, and creating open looks with Curry is hard. It exposed how reliant I am on the step back three to manufacture shots and without knowing that it was remapped to left stick, I was pretty helpless.

I didn't feel especially cheesed outside of a few possessions though. This was my major complaint last year-- that if you didn't bring your A game and let the AI get some steam, it would roll over you and feel progressively more cheesy. That didn't happen on All-Star, and I didn't see it in Superstar in the pre-install quick game. I will have to confirm on the final installed version but if it feels the same, then DaCzar will have addressed one of my major issues-- that SS feels like it's balanced for someone whose good enough to suppress what feels like cheesy overpowering AI momentum, but doesn't necessarily feel authentic to someone prone to make a few mistakes. The times I got destroyed it was just an old fashioned beat down-- the type where you look up at the scoreboard and it's "oh. We're down 30 already. Feels about right."

Will have to play a bit more to confirm-- but I'm actually so terrible that I'm getting destroyed on All-Star, and just finally won one as GSW against the Knicks in a no-defense game. Because apparently I suck on that end too. Guarding Melo is hard, and he would often just dribble around my flat footed players. Not sure how I feel about that.

A few issues persist, like oops being too easy, and that new weird high lofted layup oop that I've never seen in an actual real life game. Barnes' Posterizer badge is too overpowering and I'm getting a lot of easy dunks and oops that don't feel right. Breaking down your man at the perimeter may or may not be too hard-- will need more stick time to figure it out. The challenge is nice, but whether you get a blow by or not feels a bit more random now.

But like I said, the gameplay feels so much more solid and sig at the same time. I got an and-1 with Curry doing one of his high underhand layups, and he went into a swag celebration that ended with his finger to the sky. So legit.

I feel like this is really a salient point.

I have to say I like that getting open shots with Steph is hard (at least for now). I went back and tried 2K14 and defenders would gap me several feet.

ORLY. Splash.

Then again it could be an artifact of the bad ratings workaround that dropped everyone's shooting for Patch 4 so the AI no longer respects it, but I've seen this happen even before that.

I'm still taking more threes than is realistic (well it was against poor Knicks defense and I was playing at an insane pace), but hopefully against better teams and on SS I'm going to have to work for those 9-10 shots a game (that aren't straight up chucks).

This game is hard I'm struggling with defense, screen setting and post up moves. I'm going to chip away to learn it.

The one thing that I believe would tremendously improve the presentation would be the use of the lighting we see during the half-time highlights. Just seems very well done... It's brighter, more organic and closer to what we see in the real arenas.

Very early impressions. I got the chance to play one game yesterday Sixers vs Bucks. I used the Sixers. It's amazing the difference a year can make in regards to movement. Running plays felt much more precise compared to 2k15. The off ball movement was constant to the point I thought I didn't have to run plays 24/7 to create scoring opportunities. I think I ended up losing the game by 10 or 12 points and I must say the Bucks will be a hell of a challenge to beat online against a skilled user. Their defense was stout, they were long, and they space the floor very well.

Videos don't do this game justice. The game is just gorgeous. The lighting is much improved over last year in my opinion as the colors really pop. I primarily use the Sixers and I noticed the difference right away when playing a game this year compared to last year as far as lighting goes. Some may say its over done but what you can't say is that they didn't work on it. The presentation is better than last year as well. The pregame, halftime, and post game shows are much better than last year. Commentary has always been a strong suit of this game and I find that no different this year. This game's Achilles heel is and has always been its representation of crowd noise. Between playing the competition's game and 2k16 the competition blow this game away in that regard in my opinion. They really have to work on that side of things.

This game initially feels much more balanced compared to last year as well. Playing defense, passing, and rebounding feel improved over 2k15 as well. I have not played this game enough to give it a full fledged review but it is an obvious improvement at first play.

I would like to commend 2k for all the effort they put into this title. You can see it almost immediately. I appreciate all the content they managed to stuff into this title as well. As far as legends go I appreciate the effort as well but they've got a lot of work to do what some of those models. All three Shaquille O'Neal's on the magic Lakers and heat teams got to go. They are really bad. So bad to the point I may not even use them. I know 2K updated faces last year in a patch and I hope that happens again this year. Overall, this game is a solid purchase based on my limited play and is an obvious upgrade over 15.

This. I really hope that 2k doesn't nerf the difficulty with patches.

It's almost a little too bright and blue-ish, but having the brightness and tone move in that direction would be phenomenal (skin tones are too saturated across the board).

What's weird is MSG seems REALLY bright, when I think it's one of the darker arenas.

I'd like to add that Rome wasn't built in a day and this game just came out. We should expect that there is a learning curve that we must overcome in getting all aspects of this game down. We should all know by now that 2k pays attention to these boards and we need to be careful what we complain about is too easy or too hard. Complaining about the wrong thing could force them into making this game worse. So we should be very mindful of what we say here until we can say we have a full grasp of the game.
