Kenny "The Jet" Smith has joined Shaquille O'Neal and Ernie Johnson in the NBA 2K16 pre-game, halftime and post-game shows. Check out the video here and post your thoughts!
Let's not pretend like it's because 2k doesn't have the money to do a TNT broadcast. It's just they feel other thing provide a better value/lift to sales and/or other things are being prioritize.
Personally, I feel TNT rights would be more valuable than 2kTV, but that's from my perspective. 2kTV may provide great branding experience for 2k as a company and are probably more aligned with company goals. Oh well.
It's as if they have 5 development teams at 3 different companies working on this game. Wow! How do they do it? All video game companies should take note. Just wow!
I am blown away by what they are putting into this game. From Spike Lee, to the CPU breaking you down, to presentation, to the overhaul in game play, to everything else I am reading, 2k is just awesome.
As an indie developer, I can only admire them and what they do. They are the gold standard of developers that I aspire to be some day.
I can't wait to get my hands on this game. I have not purchased 2k since 2013. (I hate having to purchase coins to just use the game. I hate in-app purchases. If I payed money for something, I want to be able to use all of it. It's the reason that I don't download a bunch of apps now on my phone. Anyway, I digress.)
This will be my first time back since then. It's good to be back.
So happy that the halftime report has returned to its former glory with player specific highlights. It is also nice that Kenny Smith has joined the team. Can't wait to find out the third member of the commentary team.
Has 2k ever confirmed that they are even trying to get the TNT license? I always thought that it would be a waste of money and resources just to use a logo and whatever scoreboard TNT is using that year.
Also it restricts 2k's ability to hire announcers. Doris Burke is an ESPN reporter and I doubt ESPN would let her be affiliated with a rival network in a video game. Same goes for Clark Kellogg. When ESPN was licensed, they only used ESPN announcers.
It's also unrealistic. In real life no team uses TNT every game, or NBA TV. They all have their own local stations with different scoreboards.
I wouldn't even want TNT in the game unless it was for select games.
Man, I loved Ernie & Shaq in MY LEAGUE, my favorite mode, but three of them (too bad Sir Charles is missing) in pregame, halftime and postgame?? I am absolutely overwhelmed!!! Great news today!!
I like Kenny and Shaq being in there. I am not a fan of Charles Barkley at all and I am glad he is not in there. (I would be close to not buying it if Charles was in the game.)
I can't wait to see how this looks and feels during a game. The halftime show will be awesome.
That would be such an ill touch if players actually sat with Shaq, Kenny and Ernie to be interviewed in specific situations, like after winning a championship. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if 2K did get that in there, as hard as they went this year.
No one called wanting the TNT license "stupid". I wouldnt mind seeing it. Its just weird how its become an obsession here. What we are talking about is a logo and a set design.
As one of the people who would like to see TNT presentation in the game, I don't think anyone around here has been obsessive about it. We would like to see it in game and we say that when it comes to presentation. But I really don't see it any differently than the people who want certain shoe brands or anything else from NBA 2K. Now there may be reasons why TNT is not in the game. And that's cool. I'm more than happy with what they have given us. But there's nothing wrong with wanting TNT and the hyperbole is unnecessary.
