Madden NFL 16 News Post


The much anticipated Madden NFL 16 patch has arrived for both Xbox One (732 MB) and PlayStation 4 (749 MB). Check out the list of updates below, which include improvements and fixes for gameplay, Connected Franchise, Madden Ultimate Team, and more.

UPDATE: Just received official word from EA.

Players will not need to restart their Connected Franchises to see most of the fixes in the Title Update. However, due to draft classes being randomly generated, you will have to restart if you want the changes to your current draft class, as we cannot retroactively change those ratings.

Also of note, the roster update is scheduled to arrive on Friday, according to Rex Dickson, creative director of the Madden NFL series.

GAMEPLAY
  • Addressed issue where AI defenders would get encroachment penalties after random huddle breaks and occasionally during the no-huddle offense
  • Addressed rare issue where receivers were called down by contact even when they weren’t being touched
  • Addressed quarterback locomotion warps on certain drop backs
CONNECTED FRANCHISE
  • Addressed issue where players could receive over 100 confidence resulting in a short-term attribute boost
  • Tuned regression for offensive linemen
  • Tuned rookie deep accuracy rating
  • Tuned supersim stats where pocket quarterbacks were generating too many rushing attempts
  • Addressed issue where team could sign elite free agents for a low amount
  • Addressed issue where some free agents would disappear from the free agent pool
MADDEN ULTIMATE TEAM
  • Addressed a rare issue where certain items would not have an image
OTHER
  • Addressed issue where the commentary line and presentation would repeat for a quarterback who returned from injury
  • Addressed a crash that could occur when using multiple controllers
  • Addressed a crash that could occur when exiting a game and the background video would continue to loop
  • Addressed general bugs and stability issues

Just wanted to confirm the best way to play CFM. Offline or Online? If offline, with or without tuner? I tried a 32 team offline, with 31 teams having the CPU settings. When I made it to the off-season, it seemed none of the 31 teams re-signed any FA's. There was about 20, 90+ rated FA's. Has anyone ran into that issue?

You want the AI to sub out players when they have a series of bad games?

What do you mean situational subs? Did you mean packages? Or something different...

For XBOXONE how can I verify if I have the patch?, when i powered up my system and loaded madden, I didn't see any patch being downloaded, and I do have xbox live

I'll chime in to bring the re-signing issue up again. I actually got through all 28 pages this evening. Keep up the good work in here everyone!

Anyway, I'm also seeing issues with re-signings.

Offline
2-team control
Patched and tuned

After progressing from season 2 to 3, and advancing through to Week 1, I'm trying to re-sign Randy Gregory. I've got him up to 88 overall, and when I pull up the re-signing screen, he (like everyone else) says he's Interested, and he wants about $14m spread over 4 years.

That doesn't matter - he won't even take $20m base salary PER YEAR for 4 years with max signing bonus on top of it. He insists on negotiating.

Same for Abdullah and John Brown (my roommate and I did a fantasy draft), who are high 70's to mid-80's OVR, along with multiple other players I'd like to keep around as backups. No one will take even a max contract.

Advancing through the season results in the same "Negotiating" stance, regardless of maxed-out contract offers.

We're now in Week 10, and I haven't seen their popups come up for re-signing - I've done all of this manually through the Team screen. I'll test to see if anything changes if I get their popups, but I'm afraid I'll have only that one shot at each of them in the offseason before Free Agency, with no actual negotiating happening.

I'm a little confused. I did 32 team control, but how can I tell whether it is accomplishing the whole drive goal elimination thing?

After you have played a game go to the "game prep" section and you can select "view progression history" or something like that. Click over to "confidence" and if it doesn't lists the "dynamic drive goals" as a confidence booster than you are doing it right.

Players still have weekly goals that will get met, but that just gives them XP it does not make their confidence go out of whack.

So after playing an testing 5 games now with re-installing the tuner post patch.

Everything works great again as it did pre patch/post tuner.

Something was not jiving after you DL the patch on top of the already installed gameplay tuner and QB play.

Thanks to Hoos who also tested and found the same results.

Maybe EA can look into why this happened. But I can say the tuner is fine if you delete it then re-install it post patch.

Now......on to playing my CFM and enjoying the game going forward. Testing is officially over, sliders are set, 32 team CFM set.

Just going to play and enjoy.

Does the game give you a notification that there's a patch ready to install? I haven't seen anything yet, just got a tuner update and player likeness download.

The only tuner I have is one installed on 9/4. Is this the one you're talking about?

It looks like the roster did not touch over player SPD... so this means we are still screwed with the generated rookies being way faster. Correct?

Incorrect, there were a list of older CB's the developer named inside this thread last night that the speed increased and there were posters that stated this was true.

I just looked at the new roster update and there's barely any startable players above 95SPD. This means new rookies are still instantly faster than all current NFL WR/CBs.

HEY ROADMAN.. Good to see you again. Like everyone else, been experimenting with sliders and rosters but getting ready to start my Franchise.. Just a simple question.. I have not DL the tuner, But from my understanding, the TUNER only affects game play ONLINE and has no affect at all on CFM OFFLINE game play.. I never play OL, so I am assuming the tuner is not a necessity for me. Would that be correct. ? Will be using A&S sliders with some adjustments for my personal taste..and Thomasdraft rosters and as always so called Coach mode. I can live with most of the the issues but the one thing I really hate is the FG issue.. CPU never misses and takes the thrill out of a close game for me. So I adjusted all the Kickers kick *** from the best being 70 and the worst being 59. Now i see missed FG's.. yet some have been made from 50 yds. I have seen a 34 yd miss juust to the left. I don't know how it will affect sim stats, But don't really care. Just want to see a miss now and then in my played games. Now working on Punters power and acc. have seen some pretty cool stuff, not every punt bounces through the end zone. Again these are just for my personal type of play.. And it is again good to see you still interested and posting after all these years. And I am still loving the show.

so what do i need to do to get a good franchise? so far through skimming I've seen the following being suggested

set control to all 32 teams
set CPU progression to weekly
delete tuner

is that accurate?

anything else?

The rookies were not touched, it was the decision of the developer to raise the speed of the older CB's.

AND bring Madden 16 to the fire mountain of mordar. Can't forget that, and when things go wrong, just blame the Patriots for the mishap...seems the legit way to operate.
