Madden NFL 16 News Post

The much anticipated Madden NFL 16 patch has arrived for both Xbox One (732 MB) and PlayStation 4 (749 MB). Check out the list of updates below, which include improvements and fixes for gameplay, Connected Franchise, Madden Ultimate Team, and more.

UPDATE: Just received official word from EA.

Quote:
Players will not need to restart their Connected Franchises to see most of the fixes in the Title Update. However, due to draft classes being randomly generated, you will have to restart if you want the changes to your current draft class, as we cannot retroactively change those ratings.

Also of note, the roster update is scheduled to arrive on Friday, according to Rex Dickson, creative director of the Madden NFL series.

Let us know what you are seeing!

GAMEPLAY
  • Addressed issue where AI defenders would get encroachment penalties after random huddle breaks and occasionally during the no-huddle offense
  • Addressed rare issue where receivers were called down by contact even when they weren’t being touched
  • Addressed quarterback locomotion warps on certain drop backs
CONNECTED FRANCHISE
  • Addressed issue where players could receive over 100 confidence resulting in a short-term attribute boost
  • Tuned regression for offensive linemen
  • Tuned rookie deep accuracy rating
  • Tuned supersim stats where pocket quarterbacks were generating too many rushing attempts
  • Addressed issue where team could sign elite free agents for a low amount

MADDEN ULTIMATE TEAM
  • Addressed a rare issue where certain items would not have an image
OTHER

  • Addressed a crash that could occur when using multiple controllers

I gave Rex a heads up earlier this morning via different communication than Twitter.

The ball is in their court on how they will respond.

Just to be sure, the Player Likeness Update will not appear along with all other files correct? And the Tuner Update is listed in the files? I want to make sure that the FILE NAME: Update / TYPE: Tuning, is exactly that and not the Player Likeness Update. I had to download the Player Likeness Update but I was never prompted to download the Tuner Update. Just wanted to make sure I have it and I'm looking at the files correctly. Thanks.

kudos to those finding a solution w/ 32 team control, but it sure would be nice for an "on/off" for confidence

One thing that i can personally say since being a regular member here since 2002 is that a lot of these things are simply blown out of proportion because one guy thinks he notices something. Now i don't even see this particular thing a real issue but that is just my opinion but let me put it this way....i guarantee you there are far far more people that don't see this confidence issue than those that do. Example...i know of more times than i have fingers where some sort of "conspiracy" was hastily posted in here and it simply snowballed into something nasty and it was never true to begin with.

What i can say to those that want to enjoy the game for what it is...is to make sure to not dive head deep into a lot of those in here that complain a lot or put a video game under the microscope because if you don't, in the end...it will boil down to one thing...you simply will catch this bad habit of always looking for flaws and bugs when could simply be enjoying the game for it's positives. A positive mind has so much more fun with games...take this from a 41 year old that use to put games under the microscope...after years i came to one conclusion and that is all those damn years i missed enjoying games because i listened to some Joe schmo dissect the game to pinpoint its imperfections, negatives, dislikes, etc and it ruined many years of gaming for me.

It's not worth it guys, in this you CAN TRUST ME.

I'm glad that you can enjoy the game the way it is. I can't. And I know some people feel the same way. I share what I found. You can use it or not. Enjoy your game.

Finally. Look forward to finally starting our league. Though Im still not completely happy with things. Ive never played a game that consistently has so many problems like Madden.

I'm pretty sure some tuning has taken place in online CFM. I just simmed 10 years and I'm not seeing issues with QB awareness, LT pass blocking. I'm still seeing some speedy WR but I have yet to use the newly released Week 1 roster.

This was with the patch installed BEFORE the tuner update as I was on vacation when these dropped.

10 years of 100% sim.

Then when you end the game before advancing week you just retired from that team. repeat for every game.

All the management and the league features will stay the same. Just another option if you are not willing to do the 32 teams "control".
Will this work for future seasons? Can't you only create an owner for a given team and then retire him once in the life of a franchise?

If your online tuner is already there. Aside from that your likely to experience the drive goals issue so many have seen.

Can anyone tell me where the auto-pilot option is? I can't find it and want to make sure it's turned off for each team

Hey guys, I don't know if this was caused by the patch, or if it was an issue prior to the patch. But take a look at the fact that you can't truly change schemes in owner mode

Owner mode scheme changes do not stick

If you've been here any amount of time, you'll know i am not a game dissector, nor do I declare the sky is falling for small issues, in fact I have been criticized here for downplaying issues that appear to me to be trivial, whether it's Madden, NB2k or The Show.

Given that, I will say, the difference the game plays in CFM when confidence gets out of whack and a Play Now game is quite tangible. This is not being overplayed by the guys who see it. To me it becomes readily apparent very quickly in to your CFM.

Take that for what it is, still simply my opinion, but its coming from somone who's not a wannabe amateur game tester. I have no desire to go on bug hunts, I just want to play the game.

I love this site and I've been a huge fan for years. I rarely post anything just because it's not my style.

I'm sure this has been said before, I've seen folks say this a few times.

MADDEN needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. The community is so awesome and all of you prove that. All the comments and suggestions are amazing. The madden community gives more attention and ideas more than any other sports community combined. We all deserve better. The gameplay is really good this year. The features are still awful. It's "next gen" consoles and we still get a good decent realistic CFM close to being good? That's a joke.

This is completely possible because games like NBA2k and MLB the show prove that on consistent basis. Not that those games don't have their issues as well. I'm not one of those people that bitch about the game being $60 either. Videogames make more money these days than ever ( especially with DLCs and MUT ect...)

Why don't my RB's auto sub on situational plays? Why doesn't my RT get benched after being awful for 4 games in a row? just a few examples, the list goes on. This is possible and happens in other games during a franchise.

I expected better on the "next gen" consoles. My personal belief like all of us. WE DESERVE BETTER. WE ARE LOYAL!!!!

No doubt you are correct, it seems that the current Madden is basically a giant house of cards. I feel for the devs, as it appears any changes made anywhere have catastrophic repercussions in multiple areas of the game. Years upon years of bad code piled on top of bad code with no deserved ground up re-imagining have painted the team in a corner. What I would love to see is instead of Madden 17 being released, next August we are presented with a beta, and that beta would extend all the way to Summer of 2017 (Madden 18) because as it is right now, cfm simply cannot be used without some crazy bs workarounds, we as a community should be able to assist in crushing these bugs so we have playable modes other than just play now, like you said we deserve it. The Madden team is probably already elbow deep in 17, leaving us with an unfinished product waiting for next years unfinished product. Unfortunately for us, zero competition coupled with MUT being the cash guzzling pig (unbelievably to me) that it is, no suit at EA has any reason to give our community what it deserves, we cannabalize our own interests (myself included) by annually pumping untold millions into a sub par product. It's a shame cfm sits where it does right now, because the gameplay is real, real close to being where it needs to be.
