The women's game does play an awesome game of football. I just don't know how far they can take it.

Do they have the resources to add women's leagues, a women's FUT, a women's CM? Honestly I don't see any of that happening, but I suppose anything is possible if the demand for it is there.

What I mean Is whether they are using the women's game as a testing ground for taking the men's in a new direction without actually having to try it in a full-fledged release.

You can speculate and speculate about what EA will do. Personally, I opted to call and sit on hold a while and ask. The answer I got was something to the likes of. "We are aware that some feel the players are too 'heavy' in the demo. However, this is due to a more realistic player physics. Currently there is no planned patch and the physics will remain as they are. The game at release will play mostly like the demo with a slight polish of player movement graphics not player control."

If you doubt me call them yourself. Now, will this hold true? There is no way I can say but at least give them a chance.

Personally my opinion is if you like PES play it... Why some feel compelled to explain why they choose the one over the other baffles me. Sure in a comparison review go for it. But a thread about FIFA demo and people start up... "Umm dude I am getting PES because the box it ships in just feels more like a football game box." Do not get me wrong everyone should play what they want and can share an opinion. I will most likely get both. If someone starts a comparison thread I aill gladly contribute to what both do well. And what both slightly miss at.

The idea that FIFA is scripted and has no impact by what you do is just wrong. I always use a three person back and change to the same tactics. This greatly affects how the games are played out. I also sit back on defense and the CPU tries to bomb the ball in from the outside or or shoots long. My brother plays more as the team he is using and the CPU responds differently. The idea that PES plays like the real teams is false also. So, if PES is like the real side then I guess real football teams rarely cross the ball. Do not get me wrong I love PES but this claim is just warn out and not correct. The fact is this is like the Witcher 3 stuff about combat mechanics being "bad" compared to Bloodborne. The issue is they are way different. So, if you play a ton of one and then go to the other (I did this) then try to play it like the one you are used to (muscle memory) it is suddenly "broken". In fact they both rock and just are way different focus of strategy. Think of jumping from PES to FIFA or FIFA to PES in this same way. Rarely is anyone not more used to one than the other. When I switch over unless I custom controls I go to cross and send a missle shot at the side of the net. Muscle memory is a funny thing... I can tell myself "square square push square and bam I press circle".

Ever watch a really good softball or baseball hitter who never plays golf swing a club? If you do get the chance notice how they no matter how much instruction recieved will at first push there wrists and hips so far forward that the meanest slice you ever saw occurs. Years and years of muscle memory can not be erased because one simply hears what to do differently. Exactly why a coach in all sports would rather get a good athlete who has never played than an athlete who was poorly coached and has bad habits.

What does this have to do with FIFA? In my opinion everything. PES plays well. FIFA plays well. Yep, they are different. Both demos seem to show improvements over last years game. Guess what they are different games though and my bet is whichever one you "loved" last year will be the one you "love" this year. I refuse to bash one to build up the other.

I will say from the demo FIFA feels like a solid game. The women's teams play better and more life like than any football game to date. Just my opinion. Will they completely change this next week before release? I doubt they could even if they wanted to but my impression if the IT guy I spoke with knows anything is they do not intend or want to.

Okay done ranting... continue on, and anyone who wants PES do not take offense, I want the game also. Though do not see what PES does well meaning FIFA is a disgrace. If there is a review comparison thread, I will post why for the first time I could live with just one of the games but this is not really the place to go into which or why. My advice be happy both have demos, play both and pick which makes you the happiest. Or get both if money allows.

EA showed passion and heart in football. This demo is full of the work of people who really care about the product they made. It shows and is a blast to play.

Seriously done ranting... hope no one is offended, that was not my intent.

I so much want to have my hands on the full version to play with tactics, as it's a pain in the *** to do it in the demo, especially with short games.

But there still seem to be some good things happening. To an extent certain things need to be "hacked" for lack of a better term for them to work better, but I'll take that over them not working.

Something I tried this morning was putting Neymar and Messi in LAM and RAM positions as opposed to LW and RW. The reason is that in a default 4-3-3, the game likes to play quicker pace despite what the tactics say. But by bringing them in further and changing their position, it seemed to create more short passing and possession. I also put the fullbacks as wingbacks, so they came up to provide a wide outlet on attack.

Overall, things still seem promising.

The women´s game is better than the man´s game. It feels like football, honestly, i think it´s the stats of the female players. They are generally lower and that may be of some importance. Also, the tactics may have a particular thing in them that makes the game feel better.

Whatever it is, we need to find out and try to reproduce it on the men´s game.

I spent a whole week, non-stop, editing PES 14 with the global editor - with no luck. No matter what the defenders continued to follow those attackers all the way into the box - all the way to the goal-line (and probably out of the stadium if it was possible), it was a joke - and it wasn't the PES that I grew to love. It's funny because PES 13 was such an incredible game, but they completely scrapped it with the new engine.
Matt, it´s incredibly bad luck that the PES you tryed to edit was the worst football game ever made: PES 14. Also, PES 15 on PS3 was only marginnaly better, but i can assure you that PES 15 on PS4 (or xbox one) was a completely different beast, and i am sure that if you played it enough you would have loved it.

Give a try on PES 16 (not on PS3 or 360!) im sure you will find at least a very good offensive AI on the CPU and maybe get some fresh ideas for FIFA 16.

EDIT: you will also find that 90% of the finesse shots to the far post will go in unfortunately. I believe there is a similar problem on the FIFA demo but to the NEAR post and not as obvious and blatant as in PES.

I do not think EA plans to make the men play like the women. That would be awful. The women's mode is amazing because it is fun and life like. If they make the guys game like that it would be horribly unrealistic.

I could be wrong it may be a test of new game styles. But I think it is just they made the women play like women and happened to succeed at this better than they do in making the guys play like guys.

Possibly this is because the women's game is simpler to impliment and recreate. Not a sexist remark, I am a girl.. But we do play a less complex, because of physical limitations, form of soccer and most other sports. They could probably make a more realistic women's basketball game than the two men's ones but that may be kinda not exciting to play.

Men football (or soccer) in a nutshell: not fun or life like!

Now serioulsy, i see your point, but i would love to see the women´s gameplay recreated on the men´s teams. It just feels better to play.

I think it's more about the dev team who makes this game is located in Canada and all the women were right there in front of them this summer and they got to get up close and personal with them.. maybe using some of them for animations and etc. I dunno .. but to me this is why I think some of the women's faces are better and some of their animations are spot on.. and also because it's only a few teams as opposed to men's clubs and players..

I think don't they need to have it like that women's but you can tell FIFA's dev team were able to put a good amount of details into player details that they just don't put in to many of the club teams and players. My thing is where do they go with the women's teams after this? Do they just add more national teams reflecting the 2015 World Cup or do they start adding club teams as well, I'm not going to lie playing as Arsenal Ladies team would be interesting.

Totally agree, I would love women's English Football sides. I do think the more teams they add the less detail will get into it. Part of me feels it is so well done because they only had to do twelve teams. I am guessing on this.

I really hope they exand the women's teams and give a CM of some kind. Like you I love what they did with this and how it looks, feels and plays.

I can agree with a lot of what you're saying, but these games don't exist I a vacuum. Ea created this environment itself by attempting to muscle out competition with its monopolizing of licenses. It has been left with one competitior so comparisons to that one competitior will always be made. Just the way it is.

Fifa 15 became an exercise in futility when it came to making the computer play differently. Every team played the same after a certain point in the career. Didn't matter what you changed, every team played the same. Hence why custom tactics and sliders turned into such a long drawn out fiasco. After playing FIFA 16 for about 3+ hrs a day since the demo came out I can say that the teams pretty much all play the same this year too. Sure there are a few moments a game where the cpu will try a long shot or lob, but when it is down or drawn with the clock ticking every team resorts to the same tactics.

I've read you make the same comment about the lack of crosses in PES 2016 but I've seen quite a few. The computer has scored on me in so many different ways I can't remember two goals being quite the same. Juventus and Bayern are especially fond of the cross.

Maybe, because there are just 12 teams, they really had the time to make the tactics welll done and the stats, maybe, i don´t know for sure obviously.

Totally this... I think you are right. There is even vids of them working with players like Alex Morgan on movement and stuff. I was not thinking before but this makes more sense than what I stated. Since they worked with the players and the majority of them this shows. Would be hard to do with the thousands of men in the game.

Totally honest and fair. I too saw in FIFA 15 a lack of diversity in CPU tactics. I also know that PES does cross the ball. Sometimes they do seem to pass a lot of ground balls in the box. In the end both have strong sides. I am greatful for both. One thing that affects me in switching between them is camera settings.

I will get both and time will see which I play more... If it had a CM mode for the women FIFA would be automatic winner as that part is simply amazing. I have more time in Germany vs USA than either of the men's demos. I actually have more time in that than I do some full games I own.

Absolutely, im getting both, but will wait on Fifa until Matt, Orion, and Kreb give it a good once (or twice ) over. If anyone can make the game amazing those guys are the ones to do it.

I do think EA missed an opportunity not fleshing the women's game out. If nothing else but the ability to create an all woman tournament.

Totally agree. The individuality in the women's game feels on the level of, or close to, PES, unlike the men's game.

Yeah i just played a match of 16 demo barca vs chelsea then played the same matcup on the 15 demo..and i just really like the shooting in 15 way more as well as the more agile movement of the players. Think I'll stick with 15 for another year and maybe 17 will be better for me.

# 458 morkusyambo @ 09/11/15 05:23 PM
Just played a demo of Barca vs Chelsea. Barca brought Pique up into attack on purpose early in the first half and he struck a great goal from the outside of the box. Just awesome. Never saw that once in FIFA 15. I don't have a problem as others seem to with fullbacks cutting inside. From what I can tell is the full back away from play will do so while the fullback on the play side does what he is supposed to.

EA….Please do not fundamentally change gameplay from where it is now as its damn near perfect (at least from an enjoyment standpoint). Also, please do not take away the ability to observe matches without being forced to play one side. I love manager mode and while I don't want to play every game in a season, I also don't want to have to quick sim the ones I don't. Its nice to simply watch the team you build play a game.

# 459 xicpanad @ 09/12/15 10:06 AM
After another long session last night against my friend, I could see where this is going. Pace of play is higher, is basically ping pong, wich doesn´t happen so much vs CPU. This might be good though because this game has potential to please both online and offline players as is right now. Bad thing, ball physics on crossing is not real. Already had some complains about this but yesterday I did confirm that the ball trajectory does not curve, no matter what. Also, crossing and heading after crossing is overpowered. My friend experienced lots of dificulties defending my crosses, because attackers always seems to antecipate the defenders, even small players (like iniesta) against tall ones. Still, game is balanced enough and very, very enjoyable!

# 460 Resurrection403 @ 09/12/15 01:16 PM
CPU on world class and above is far too good passing. Even with pass accuracy up to 70 error they had 93% knocked the ball around with zero problem
