NBA 2K16 News Post

What’s happening family. It’s your man Da_Czar… I have started my sentences with this phrase too many times to count here on OS. With this, my first official blog post as a developer, I am returning to the format that started it all.

I know many of you here have been waiting a long time for us to talk about gameplay. Well the time has finally come so I won’t waste time with any more introductions.

I guess I'm the only one who reads that and understands very little of the terminology. I'm going to get dominated by the CPU lol

Same here. Football is my favorite sport and the one that I know the most about but I'm glad the 2k devs are adding more things in the gameplay department.

I wouldn't worry...Czar is good with his vids when explaining stuff. It's just that we have to wait for his more comprehensive vids.

The time being spent into all the in-depth stuff is so crazy... I really hope that 2k sticks to it's guns and doesn't waver when casuals start having issue with not being able to chuck 3's constantly or zig-zag. Even myself who I consider a pretty hardcore basketball fan and sports game fan feels like this is gonna take quite a bit of adjusting too before I'm able to get good at it.

The world's most popular game has a steep learning curve. They call it chess. I'm MORE than fine with this game getting more and more challenging for the RIGHT reasons. I'm sure most of the OS crowd would agree and I even think Lil' Billy would agree too.

In the video of the triangle there is the same triangle that i could make in nba 2k15 or 2k13 (mamba iso), the only one which is new is the second action of the first video with a 3 point shot. And normally it is not finished by a 3 pt shot but a mid range jump shot and there is not the first block but just the second.

This triangle was in 2k12 for a big man it was lal tri base i think so it was the real triangle. But jordan could have this open jumpshot in reality, not in 2k12 it was just for center or PF.

its available in 2k15. bcos of its momentum by the time the big man catches out of the screen its somewhere near the free throw line. unfortunately it happens in a random set as cpu will mostly go with the first set screen.

looking forward to 2k16 triangle!

Sure we'll find out more in upcoming days, can't wait to see how electric an atmosphere can get in the postseason.

I'm sure they will release a blog on presentation sometime before the game releases.

2K11 kicked my @$$ initially. I loved it!!! I like the game to come out and challenge the heck out of me. It drags the best basketball IQ out. Love that!

Just going to nitpick a little because it's one area where I think the other game does a better job still, but also because I've seen 2K improve on it on some players this year:

Kobe still looks to have that thick calves / cankles going on. Maybe it's not his final build, maybe it's just the angle, or maybe it's the shoes? Just looks off for some reason.

Haha thanks man, def not meant to derail the thread or anything, just that I've been watching these vids again and again and noticed it. And it might have already been talked about when the pics and vids started coming out, but I haven't been in the 2K boards in years.

Anyway looks like 2K has done a great job with some of the upper body scanning this year, hopefully they can match with the lower bodies for 17.

I was watching this the other day like 2 weeks ago trying to find ways establish into 2k15. And then Da_Czar comes up with all of the new offense schemes!!!

Man this is going to be HUGE!

the thing that annoyed me the most in nba 2k15 was extremely poor AI help defense, from watching the videos it appears it's still gonna be bad in nba 2k16

# 158 Chrome345 @ 09/06/15 08:45 AM
the help defense was very frustrating..ugh

# 159 Vni @ 09/06/15 08:48 AM
With the emergence of online gameplay a few years back and how minimal the AI improvements were every year (and for every games) I really didn't think we would see major AI improvements ever. It just shows 2K's dedication to invest personal and energy into this. Playing the AI gonna be great this year.

wow...bravo, czar.

this game is shaping up to be amazing...and i really enjoyed 2k15. i have such confidence in the devs at 2k at this point. like czar has said before, the great thing about 2k is that they don't "design for the back of the box" - they simply design to improve the game. they're not concerned with adding "flashy, new features" just to build up hype for the latest version - they tweak what needs fixing, and add to what's already working, rather than just revamping everything each year to make the game "feel new". "new features" don't help if they don't work well, or if they break something that used to work. 2k takes their time to make sure something actually works or improves the game before adding or revamping.
