Meaning that teams a few years ago don't feel like classic teams to me. I'm older though I'm sure. As far as macs being 1 of best offenses ever that's highly debate able. The teams I listed above would all crush that team IMO... I can see the 99-00 raptors, or 01 lakers. Classic to me is 70's, 80's, 90's with a few early 2000's mixed in. I'm happy for new teams period for everyone. I just wouldn't play with any of them except the ones I listed above... That's just me though...

Edit: I take that back I love the classic Blazers with sheed and Sabonis. That was a great team that had the lakers in the 4th of game 7! Fun team!

Oh man I loved that team! I played the heck out of NBA live 94 that year with that sonics team! I just figured we got 96 sonics but the sonics had some great teams from 93-97! Eddie Johnson, Derrick Mckey, pierce, etc... Trader bob kept pulling his strings...

The only offense that compares is the '93 Suns, it's just not true statistical fact the '03 Mavs ARE one of the greatest offenses ever anchored by a top 30 play in Dirk and top 50 player in Nash.

The Knicks that reached the Finals in '99 were absolutely putrid offensively one of the worst teams to reach the Finals ever you're kidding right?

The early 2000's were a long time ago man

Many worthy hours spent playing with the SuperSonics on NBA Showdown '94. They had dunk packages and Kemp's bag of tricks was overflowing, obviously. Loved his off-the-backboard and rock-the-cradle.

Defense is part of the game too! Knicks had lj, Oakley, Ewing, and spree well on offense with Ewing it was a fun team and a helluva run! I'm pretty sure they were an 8th seed and then ran into a monster named Hakeem that year. The 87 rockets had twin towers 2 7 footers. I could care less about statistics that mavs team couldn't play with those older teams. It's called the eye test... All is debatable but if those mavs had to play the physical ball and hand checking back in the day they wouldn't have won a series against any of those teams...

But that team was fun to play with on older games so why not bring them and that arena back to these new machines,so we can re-visit that series. Plus their logo is in the pro am video.

Exactly! Only thing I do with the show every year is download and create the 95 Mariners with Edgar, Griffey, Buchner, randy, etc. it takes me back. I've done the same with creating a classic league with all the classic teams and I play as 96 sonics. Playing that 93-94 team would take me back to my youth of not just playing with that team and video games but how fun it was and how electric this city got watching them and living and breathing with every game. I guess that's why the more the better and some share the same feelings about their teams. I'd like to see every team have at least 1 classic team though. No need for 6 bulls teams or 3-4 lakers teams IMO before everyone has a representative from their team.

And I would love to see these unis make a visit to these new machines as well:

I can play with 2 T-Macs?

I'm going to buy about 5 copies of this game.

Hakeem? They faced Duncan and David Robinson. Ewing was done by then (didn't play in the last two rounds), LJ was done by then, Oakley wasn't on the team. Camby, Sprewell, Houston were the heroes. They were terrible offensively god awful.

Off the eye test the Mavs are pretty clearly an elite offense who could run and shoot the lights out it's really not up for debate...I'm a Knicks fan I saw that '99 team no way in hell could they run with the '03 Mavs or any of the elite 2000's teams or any true elite championship team for that matter. They'd lose in 5 games just like they did against the Spurs.

Handchecking doesn't make defenses superior and those Mavs teams played with zone and more watered down hand checking in '02-'03 in a strong defensive league. You've got 80's teams up there don't see how the Mavs don't excel in the more open, transition based 80's game. You do realize FG%, points per game, offensive rating anything related to offense was higher in the 80's than in any other decade in NBA history right?

A www mixed up my years... No need to argue. You have your opinion and I have mine. It's all good.

I was talking about the team with Ewing, lj, Houston, sprewell, camby though. It was helluva run. I was also mixing them up with 94 knicks that lost in 7 to rockets.

Nice additions, but I'll agree with a few folk here and say I don't really count the 2000's teams as classic or retro.

As always, the more older teams the better, but I'd rather see teams from the 80's and most definitely 90's.

Anyhow, still exciting news.

A young Vince and two versions of T-Mac, can't wait to use these guys in a legends myleague. Real excited to see who the rest of the teams are.

Call me old (I turn 33 in November), but I still want more teams from the '50s, '60s and '70s.

Heck, I'll take a Minneapolis Lakers team with the late great George Mikan, the NBA's first superstar.

I've always wondered how he'd fare in today's game. He'd be 6'11" in modern shoes, and LASIK would make him ditch the glasses...but he's been nowhere to be found since 2K12.

00-01 Lakers is the exception because 00-01 Sixers are already in, so that leaves a hole for one team to be from a year with no direct competition. A Kings Artest team would be nice, since Webber's Kings will not be coming back, or a 98-99 / 99-00 Knicks team w Sprewell and Camby.

Then the last 4 can be 03-04 Pistons vs. 03-04 Pacers + 05-06 Suns vs. 05-06 Clippers. 04-05 Suns might be better but that season has no great opponent then teams we already have classics of unless you take 04-05 Pistons and leave room for another 03-04 team like the Wolves, but then you have KG & Spre again.
I hope we get the 03-04 Detroit Pistons + 03-04 Timberwolves(My Favorite NBA Season)! For the other teams, possibly 05-06 Suns + 05-06 Heat, 02-03 Spurs and 01-02 Nets!

Like who? What "classic" teams from the 1980s-1990s aren't in the game?

Me too. Lakers fan, and that season it looked like KG finally had a good team around him. Shame Cassell hurt himself and was basically out for the WCF or Garnett might've won you guys a ring (at the least it would've spared us the embarrassment from that Finals debacle lol).

'07-'08 Houston Rockets
'99-'00 Toronto Raptors
'07-08 Boston Celtics
'00-'01 Los Angeles Lakers
'02-'03 Dallas Mavericks
'99-'00 Portland Trail Blazers

A fully fleshed out Kings team would be nice but if Webber is out it wouldn't make sense. 98-99 Spurs were terrific but I think 97-98 is in already, so it might be redundant. I'm guessing we're going to get the following:

1) One of the SSOL Suns squads
2) 04 Wolves
3) 04 Pistons
4) At least one other Spurs team
5) Potentially a Lakers team with Kobe/Pau?
6) Maybe a Big Three Heat team

Older teams would be nice too but since freelance offenses are becoming deeper and deeper, and rely on spacing, might not translate well. 83 Sixers and 77 Blazers would be good adds IMO if they go that route (and if they go way far back the 67 Sizers too, but cyber faces for really old teams don't come out great, in addition to the offenses being tougher to model).

Then you can play with 10 T-Macs! That sounds like a promo at McDonald's.
