I almost hate that I played this. The player movement and ball physics are top notch and have that old PES feel to them. It really is unpredictable and special. My issue is the same as others have mentioned. The lack of fouls and stoppages just give it too much of an arcade feel. If by some miracle they address that in retail, then I may make the switch back. I just don't see it happening.

According to their official twitter account (@officialpes) referee's are still being worked on, so hopefully a release day patch can sort out the lack of fouls be given issue.

I got fouled outside the box at around the 8 minute mark. This is the US Demo by the way.

I didn't play the demo yet but from reading this thread the three biggest concerns are....

1. No fouls

2. Lack of fouls

3. Not that many fouls

Am I missing something or did I nailed it?

# 105 IowaAJ @ 08/14/15 07:43 AM
Overall I thought the game play was very good. The lack of fouls was disappointing but some of the things the computer did with the ball was incredible. I didn't play last years game but the Soccer ball just has a different feeling. I was playing Bayern Munich and I can't remember who it was but some one in the box tipped it off their knee then flipped the ball in the air and shot on goal. I probably need to tune the game speed a little. The physicality was also very good I felt like I really had to fight the computer for the ball.

The one thing I love about PES is the Superstar players look and play like themselves.

Lots of battling in the midfield (ignore the lack of fouls - that is a problem). I do not see the same problem last year where you could just pass through the midfield right to the forward and have them control the ball. You can try it this year but centre backs or defensive mid either intercept or close down too quickly for you to do anything with the ball. I achieved this kind of play by using fluid formations. Making it so I had all my mids on offense while in possession and then when out of possession set them to be all behind the halfway line in set lines. They seem to keep shape pretty well while staying aware of runs being made and offensive players approaching with the ball. The first half is on normal speed and the second half is on -1 speed. Check it out and let me know!! I think it has potential and I love the collision system this year (other than no fouls again) and some of the little touches PES has for nifty passing and such. Pass accuracy didn't seem to crazy either which a lot of people have complained about but goes down when you set your formations correctly. haha. Anyway, I am long winded. Check it out and let me know! and everyone else here! love people's honest input. Especially enjoy Matt's because he knows what he is talking about.

Hope both games are good but i know you will stick with FIFA because of how much you can manipulate the game and make it what you want. For some reasons I just prefer PES animations, I don't know why because I know people who are complete opposite but FIFA running just bugs me a little bit. ha.
Hey man - sorry didn't respond earlier.

Okay, from what I see, it looks great. I love the reactions by the defenders and the overall attitude to build up a defensive midfield. The slower speed looks sublime.

Did you change just the user's fluid formations? And this is how the AI played? If so, I could definitely get on board with this. Fluid formations had good intentions last year, but it didn't produce the desired result. This looks more like it. Less playing around with the ball in the back and proper pressure where needed.

Thank you for the video, I hadn't gotten a chance to try Fluid formations this year yet. That video looked great. I hope you can produce more so I can watch them and analyze.

For those that don't know, and not to plug myself here, I analyze PES videos because I'm truly a PESfan. It's what I started doing to improve gameplay since I was 15 (I'm 30 now) and it will always be my game. Lately, especially since Fox Engine, the series let me down immensely. It's hard to trust KONAMI sometimes, or even EA, with the impressions they leave of basic football knowledge. I'll always accept there is a workaround, it just depends how easy and globally acceptable that workaround can be applied. I really hope someone comes out with a PC global editor this year unlike PES 15.

I play with fluid formation a little and can get solid defensive results on PES.
I'm a huge FIFA guy, huge, but I am a football fan first and I'd have no problem switching allegiance if I felt it was warranted. That said, here goes

As I've said, I've not spent much time with PES over the last bunch of years, so I'm reserving a lot of my gameplay comments until I have a better feel for the controls and what you can actually do.

What I will comment on here however is the tactical menus, and the menus and options in general, they're terrible. Terrible and in complete need of an overhaul. The tactical system while relatively deep suffers badly because of how counterintuitive the menu system is. There's a lot to like here, fluid formations, differing lines and pressures but it's all buried in sub menus, shame really.

The game options suffers from the same thing, I feel like I'm playing a PS2 game and in 2015 this is just inexcusable.

Graphically, I have no complaints really. The art style is a bit different from FIFA, but the game still looks great while playing.

I love the new physicality, although I'm still coming to grips with how to combat it(any help?). I also like how active everyone is, another plus.

Pass speed for me is too fast and the CPU too accurate, so fast and accurate in fact that it's nearly impossible to sit back play space and intercept passes. This forces the game to at times devolve into a tackle fest which unfortunately exacerbates the issue with fouls/referees

Skill moves, I'm still trying to come to grips with the system which for me is too complicated for its own good.

Ball physics, and physics in general is better, but still behind FIFA 15.

Anyone who knows me knows that I wasn't "raised on the game" like some of you, I'm a relative rookie when it comes to positioning, assignments, things of that nature, that's my partner's area of expertise(Matt10L) so I'll defer to him in this area.

Finally, the fun factor. All in all, I really like the game so far, it's not perfect of course, but no game is or will be. In the end whether I buy or not depends on the improvements to Master League, if option files are, well an option(PS4), the leagues available in ML and to a lesser extent the commentary.

Basically you came here to boast much how better Fifa is by doing it in slick fashion or so it seems. Kidding bro. LOL

Pro Evolution Soccer ‏@officialpes
@crunkboy2 We're still fine tuning the referees and other details for the release. Thanks for the feedback!
The referees are broken in this demo. I expect lot of changes in the full game. But atleast this is the closest to real life football game we can have in a long time. Imo PES 16 replicated the sport more than any football game i've ever played. Yeah there are lack of fouls but i'm sure they are still sorting it out.

Guys sends your feedback to PES official twitter Adam doesn't listen to feedback.

# 110 Keirik @ 08/14/15 12:25 PM
I like it and actually have some faith in the foul department. Itll be tweaked and hopefully since the ps4 has some sharing capabilities maybe it can be helped via edits.

Game needs to be slowed down. No idea how anyone could play this on default speed. -2 or -1 are a must.

# 111 L4velle @ 08/14/15 12:56 PM
Fouls will hopefully get tweaked before release. I suggest we all tweet @officialpes with feedback in the hope of it getting sorted. Don't bother with Adam Bhatti he throws a wobbly if you dare suggest a change. Not a very good community manager he just accuses you of being rude. The user controlled replay cameras are awful but hardly a game breaker. The only other thing I can think of is if you foul someone and advantage is played they never go back to book player. They could learn from fifa in this department. Imo this is the best pes for many years and a definite buy. I won't choose between pes and fifa they are both good and different in their own ways so will get both. It's a bit like forza and project cars. Forza has all the licences but project cars has a bit more of the intricate details.

This is why you are the best Matt. You just love football and football gaming.

I will record another video showing what I did with the fluid formations to achieve this. I did go in and change not only my human teams formation but switched sides and changed their formation and then switched back to my human side for the game, haha. It was a lot of fun to play though. It is interesting because it has some of that FIFA feel from sliders that you guys had last year but those PES animations and just feel (whether that is good for some or bad for others, for me personally - good).

I am glad you take the time to watch and listen to others because a few comments right after my video were "i can't sit back and intercept passes" but if they watched my video they would see that you can!! haha. Just a little frustrated when people only sit back and talk but never listen. Look forward to more of your thoughts on PES and FIFA when it comes out! I will definitely come out with some more videos too for you and hopefully more people on these forums to watch.

There are also def awareness problems in this goal as the 2 CBs should try to close down. I understand that they keep an eye on their markings but this is really bad coding.
The collision system doesn't kick in if they don't actually collide. Besides, it's Havok that is responsible for the collisions/physics/etc...

Posting/Interacting on OS does not mean that they don't have any idea about football. OS is a niche footy forum. Luckily we have guys like Matt & Orion making sliders that attract a lot more people.

He's been much better the past 2 years but I can't blame him at times. People are always coming at him via Twitter/forum/Youtube comments like 12 year olds with name-calling and just in-general internet tough guy talk.

Also, I've been booked plenty of times in 2015 & in the 2016 demo after the fact.

# 114 HenryClay1844 @ 08/14/15 04:23 PM
Overall it is a positive experience but the animations really need work. They are clunky and unnatural. Player movement is particularly robotic. PES menus continue to be terrible and there are no frills like players on the sideline or proper stadium atmosphere. (there is no difference between a game in Italy and one in Brazil) There is only night and day nothing in between.

It it weren't for the generally negative feelings against the EA FIFA team PES would get a lot less praise IMO. But there is a lot of fun in this game and I can't wait to try editing and play with proper South American teams that EA have been neglecting.

# 115 Ermolli @ 08/14/15 05:46 PM
Just played an entire 7 minute match doing as many ill-intentioned slide tackles as possible, got called only four fouls with a disappointing yellow card even though I went through behind and got Vagner Love injured. They definitely need to fix fouls as soon as possible; imagine playing online with people trying to exploit this, it'd be a nightmare.

Three ground passes were intercepted the ENTIRE game. But that's not why I'm responding, because really it doesn't matter how many passes were intercepted. What matters is that you're making assumptions about me, not cool and I'll leave it at that. No need to justify myself further because anyone who knows me knows better.
Now that that's out of the way, please continue to experiment, and continue to post your vids, I'm looking forward to them. You obviously have a lot of passion about the game and I can respect that, just be a little more mindful that there are others here who are just as passionate and want the same things that you want, two great football games.

I am sorry Orion. You are the man too. I guess I was just kind of trying to get your attention but in the wrong way. I am glad you watched though! I have followed you tons and watched your videos and used your slider settings. I was wrong. It was too rude. Hope you can overlook my dumbness.

p.s. i think the best determination of midfield pass play is how many passes in the midfield were intercepted (regardless of ground or loft - obviously excluding goal kicks) I counted 18 in the video watching it on fast forward. Some of them are pretty close to being either an interception or takeway so sometimes it is hard to tell. The other plus is there are just a ton takeaways in the midfield too which is a big positive They were also pretty evenly spread between me and the computer. Again sorry for being a jerk.

I am planning on starting a new thread where we can play with fluid formations and tactics and game speed and pass and shot controls and whatever else we can think of to see how good we can get this too play and how realistic to how each team plays. Kind of annoying with the demo because it resets after each game so I have to go back in and change my info and then switch to the AI and change theirs and switch back. Hopefully you join and Matt and some of the passionate PES guys I know. I got couple sick videos I am playing on posting there today.

Idk if it works for the demo

I looked everywhere. No such luck. Check out my new thread though for videos and how I am setting up my fluid formations!
