NBA 2K16 News Post

The 2K Pro-Am is coming to NBA 2K16, but what does it mean exactly? It obviously has something to do with professional and amateur players, but to what extent? There was nothing related to a 2K Pro-Am in the NBA 2K16 achievement list, which revealed quite a bit of information, so we are left scratching our head until 2K gives us more details.

We will update this post or create a new one when more details become available, but until then, what do you think this could be?

I've been saying since 2K11 it's too easy to become a star.

And really, ever since they brought in the story stuff it's even easier and that's without VC. Buy VC and you're better than MJ or Lebron wished they coulda been their rookie year.

The game will never be balanced in these modes until 2K creates some HARD caps:

NO centers with over a 70 shot, speed, or ballhandling.
NO pfs with over an 80 shot, speed, ballhandle, and a max of 6'11.
....
Small forwards need major work. If you got a 95 speed, you can't have a handle like AI and a block/rebound like DeAndre. And no way you're over 6'10.

I could go on but I'd be sitting here for an hour typing out stuff that's too late to happen.

THERE WILL BE NO TRUE COMPETITION until VC and hard caps are introduced.

When everyone is a 7 foot god, real basketball is already gone. The realism has left instantly if this remains and the best-experience we could have in this mode is tarnished.

Like I've said many times. Your weight, height and wingspan should effect ratings. If my wingspan is max my ballhandling should suffer but my block and steal rating should increase. If I weigh 285 lbs and I'm a SF my Speed cap should drop every time increase my weight and height.

They need a stride rating but they won't have that. Really the physical aspect should actually matter other than whether or not I'll get a pushed over animation on a box out or I'll dunk on somebody.

I think that MyLeague and MyGM are the modes where one can look for realism, every other mode, not so much.

I don't know. Something needs to be done but you can't sacrifice fun. It is a video game after all.
I feel like these contradict each a little bit. Yes there are guys who like playing both Park and MyCareer. But there are those that also just want to play in the park with their buddies are whatever. Your system of capping ovr until your 4th year or x games played wouldn't be fun for the guys that just want to play in the park with their friends. And that in turn is killing the fun for them because they have to play at least 328 games in order just to start to upgrade your guy.

Lol dude you named ONE guy out of 300 plus NBA players with the size and skill set that he has. Many players? Not really. That's the problem with 2K.

It shouldn't be that easy to have a guy that's 6'11" have that skillset because it's so rare. How many other players in the last 20 years are as tall as Giannis at the SF position that can actually handle the ball like that?

Not to mention the kid is good but he's not a superstar by any means and probably will never be TBH. Good player on a good team but that doesn't mean there should be guys with 99 rated SF that can dribble and pass like Steve Nash just because ONE guy in the NBA can do it.

It's already a nuisance in the online modes already. To the point players are just making 7 ft PGs again. We're trying to not have a repeat of the things that ruined some great modes.

You dudes cried like some little girls when 2K made the MyPlayer ascension to the top a little more realistic. Ever since then, they made is too damn easy.

So blame the community

I don't miss the 45 OVR thing, I miss the grind of gaining OVR, but I don't miss the stupid low OVR at all. You'd be a top 5 pick with a lower OVR than the bottom 5 picks.

# 88 HowDareI @ 07/18/15 12:41 AM
Why do we have to blame the community? lol I'll put the blame on 2K because it's THEIR game they have the ultimate decision.

It was more balanced when you started as a low overall. It was more balanced when you could be a 99 in anything you wanted.
Why?
Because you got less skill points per game, and you had to play your games to get better.
Forget the hackers for a minute, when you played legit players they were usually really good at a couple things. There were rebounders/inside scorers, there were shooters/wing defenders, passers/dunkers...combinations were endless but at the end of the day these people had to use their skill points on certain things so they had to choose their playstyle carefully.

You had to play through 2 full seasons to even get a 90 overall lol you think people now would be in the 90s online? These lazy cheesers would be 80 overalls online and that cheese they try and pull would be useless against us guys who actually play.

We all have different ideas on how to balance the game...but we all want it balanced better, we agree on that.

So 2K, just know if you leave it like it is now, it will just be 90 overalls on day 1 learning the exploits and ruining your modes for you.

I don't understand why 2K can't come out with some in-game scan tech. Which would be somewhat like their face scan tech. But it would require a scan of your height and arm width, to finish the MyPlayer scan entirely!

That sounds cool in all, but i'm 5'8 I really don't want to play a game where I'm restricted to be that height as well.
If this were true there would hardly be any Centers or power forwards in the game. Heck even small forwards.

Dude, millions of people play this game we know as NBA2K. Plus the majority of those millions are playing MyPark. I'm almost positive there would be an equal amount of "real life bigs" scanning themselves into the game. Sorry but you, me, and many other real life shorties would be equal. Unlike how park is now with real life short people making big men.

I agree there should be caps, but they should be randomized so, for example: one in 30k centers have a cap of 70 stealing, one in 40k have a cap of 80, 50k 90, 100k 99.

This allows realistic ratings but leaves room for unique players and genetic freaks.

Then everybody would keep starting their guy over until they got that one in X player. Just leave it the way it is.

+1. I like to create a big stretch 4 or defensive 5. Cant see me being 5'10 playing the 4 or 5 spot?

So you blame a company, who has a goal of making the most possible $ as possible, for listening to what their fans are crying about. Ok.

at those odds a person has a better chance at winning the lottery than getting a majority of his stats to be special. And if a person does, how many will be able to replicate it? Not enough to ruin the mode.

Can't really blame 2K and that isn't really game killing. It's the gimmicks people find. A 90 rating isn't really nothing after a month. When most people is there anyways. It is kinda bad from the jump for people like me that loves the grind and cannot really playing online without being at a big disadvantage.

It's very good for their business though. I hate it, but I understand it. They are making so much money from that. I actually think the setup they have is pretty cool though with you not being to upgrade until certain amount of games. Just find a way to counter people just fouling out of games. And make it a little longer to get to 90. Should only be somewhere in your 80s at the most your first season.

If you want a 7ft 3 center , then your vertical , speed and quickness should have a lower cap than 6'10 center but you can had the advantage in shot blocking and rebounding.

Every individual rating should be tailored to a players bodytype and playstyle chosen when creating. I can guareentee you wont see many small extremely tall small forwards if they cant rebound like Dwight and run like CP3.
In the older games, increased height used to be balanced by making it harder to earn team mate grade/skill points, at least for certain things (rebounds and blocks come to mind)...however with VC that approach has basically gone out the window.

Right now I feel the best course of action is:

1. Return to the method of player creation where you chose a play style(slasher,3pt specialist, defensive, etc.) and that affected your max attributes.

2. Get rid of the attribute grouping and go back to having to raise skills individually.

3. Makes badges harder to get, and perhaps insitute a cap on the number of GOLD badges you could have.

4.. Allow people to make a separate character just for My Park.

5.Players that have played enough games in My Career would also be allowed to import their player to Park, perhaps with a slightly higher OVR cap. This could only be done after they having played a high number of complete games in my Career(think several hundred);games would have to be played on at least 10 minute quarters, and fouling out would not count towards the number.

I was with you until number 5, I love playing online with my bros but I would never get that chance with the way I work if I had to play over a hundred games just to get online. I agree with the thought but that just seems overkill.

Maybe I didn't word ti right...you could make a separate online player just for Park any time you wanted to, number 5 would only apply specifically if you wanted to use your My Career player in Park.
