Madden NFL 16 News Post

EA Sports has just posted their Madden NFL 16 presentation details. Madden fans will see "On the Field" cameras, which really get close to the action, during their biggest moments. Whether that be touchdowns, sacks or trash talking. They have also added a new Wirecam, which is similar to a broadcast Wirecam, but much better, since it is positioned right next to the QB.

Improving the crowds was one of the many improvements for Living Worlds. You will see crowd props, including rally towels for the stadiums that feature them, fan signs, foam fingers and female fans in the game. Crowd signs will be team specific, and you will see fans head track the action on the field. The stadium atmosphere has been improved with team specific chants and fight songs.

Everyone in the crowd and on the sidelines will wear official apparel from the NFL shop. This includes jackets, long sleeves, winter hats, and other weather-appropriate gear. Speaking of weather-appropriate gear, you won't see any members of the media wearing shorts or kneeling in the snow this year, you will see them in their appropriate colored media vests.

The Steadicam operator cameraman will be seen in various places during the game. He will actually come out on the field and get an ISO closeup shot after touchdowns. Some of the post play action shots will be seen from his vantage point.

Post-play behaviors continues to get a huge push with more signature celebrations and related content, as well as the addition of opposing team post-play interactions. There was a big focus on cleaning up behavior after the play, including pile avoidance, how players decelerate, and how/when they react with one another. The team also added new animations for when players are frustrated with whomever is on the other side of the line.

All-new “Drive Starters” add more context and storytelling to our commentary this year. Drive Starters take place on each change of possession, and provide storytelling commentary and visuals to highlight key performances and game trends. With more than 200 unique story types and hundreds of commentary improvements, Drive Starters tell the story of a game like never before.

On the audio side, the team went to great lengths to ensure Madden NFL 16 is the best-sounding game in franchise history. The return of EA Trax allowed us to implement several new events to play in stadiums during games, and new IR Reverb tech gives each stadium a whole new feel.

Even a ticker saying "so and so now leads NFC North" would be nice. Instead we get a ticker for XP.
I can't express how amazing something like that would be. It would really take franchise mode to a whole new level of immersion. Instead of just a bunch of isolated games, it would actually feel like it's a real league that we are part of....which is something that a basic feature like a score ticker would also help achieve!

That's understandable. I hope for the things that wouldn't require getting the rights they tried to do something for each team. "Let's Go Buffalo" and similar chants should be doable.

When I get my copy I'll go team by team and let you guys know what is in there, once I'm allowed to post about it.

I was wondering what they had to go through for song licensing. I know they had the Shout song in the game a couple of years ago, but then it disappeared. Figured there might be an issue. But fingers crossed that there is something unique for games at Orchard Park.

Thanks so much for all your intel, and what you add to these boards.

For the oldies, it'a a lot of cash.

I once asked a developer about Start Me Up on Packer kickoffs. Any songs from the Stones, Led Zep and other same type artist are too costly to incorporate into the game.

EA will not grow up and stand up,either. It's a mutual understanding and agreement (the license) between both parties.

EA won't jeopardize anything they have going on with the NFL.

Secondly, stand up to them? LMAO...huh? In the end, its an NFL product and they have a say in things. If EA stands up to them, they risk losing the NFL license....and for that reason, I hope they do stand up to them.

Seriously though...I dont really buy that the NFL is the barrier there, but I have no way of proving it, so whatever.

I don't believe that a company like Sports Illustrated would release a story and retract it should the information be wrong. This leads me to believe that the NFL really did tell EA to eliminate these features for whatever their reasons really are.

Fan signs, foam fingers and female fans.

Really? That's an announcement? That's a little embarassing if those things make the list of major improvements to the presentation of a new version of the game. Those are graphical updates to in patches to the previous game surely not back of the box overhauls to be trumpeted, no?

Overall, nothing really blew me away(not that I was expecting it to), but just a bunch of solid additions. Here's hoping that the score-ticker finally returns for next year!
Any chance for an upgrade on the ' Halfttime Highlights "

They were not trying to bring you earth shattering news by letting you know those three things were in the game. Not everything is meant to be earth shattering news. They were just being nice and letting you know that they made some changes to make things look more realistic.
I am not sure how often signs are used at NFL games. They are something I more associate with like WWE but foam fingers and females are in real life NFL audiences so they deserve a place in the games audience. That's all there is to it. Does not have to be earth shattering to be real.

For me another year of Phil "8 minute monologue" Simms and Jim "Dr. Robot" Nantz means another year of mute and Google Play Music.
LOL my little sh-peal about commentary.

I love commentary from the real NFL games of the past, and with some of the announcers that are still on air.

The thing with commentary in video games, or the lack thereof IMHO, is the some of the scripts that they have in the game. Live had a huge problem with the lack of dialogue last year which made the announcers sound like terrible and very spaced and spliced. NBA2k doesn't have this problem at all.

The show is even getting the some critics because people are claiming they say the same dialogue every year. They need to have a bit more interchangeable viable lines that can be used as well. I noticed that in the Titans video when Mariota comes out onto the field, they talk about how the Titans not making trades etc. While this is in fact a true story and a cool add into the game. What happens when you play other modes and actually have Mariota on the Buccaneers or the Seahawks, or are like the 4th season in with him, are they still going to continue the same story?
That line of dialogue is going to be off, useless.

I like Jim Nantz, and I don’t have a problem with Phil Simms although I noticed he actually stutters in the game. I don’t think he does this during his actual announcements does he? I do think it’s cool that he mentions his old time stories about playing for Coach Bill Parcels, they need more of this. But there seems to be no chemistry in the madden game booth vice real life. This is actually what kills commentary also in these games, no chemistry, no feeding off of each other, and/or what’s going on in the game/season. = bad boring terrible dead air dialogue no matter who they have voice it. It will still sound like SNES limited digitized short spurts of commentary.

I’ve noticed that just about every commentary team they have in the booth, they have one play by play announcer along with a former player/coach. Lot of the times it’s usually the former player/coach that ends up being the least favorite of the two+ announcing team. But I think they could make them work if they would add better dialogue.

Like you mentioned, I agreed about Al Micheals, they should bring him back because he is truly awesome and could actually do the game wonders. I could listen to him, Pat Summeral, and John talk for days. Don't get me wrong, I like Jim Nantz as well.

People think Jim and Phil are bad, they must have forgot about Gus and the other guy from Madden 11 or 12…… good god almighty. After listening to Pat/John and Al for many years, that made them look worse. (LOL anyone remember Jimmy Johnson football for the Saturn I think it was?)

Now I'm not saying that they've gone and revolutionized camera tracking or football broadcast with anything they've done, no, and I'm not even saying I prefer the do-anything approach personally, but I don't think it's universally a bad thing that Madden includes camera positions and sweeps which aren't possible in real life.
Beyond that, we only have wire cams in real life because of Madden and the XFL. They should push the envelope and maybe TV will catch back up with them.

This *is* the NFL we're talking about, here.

I agree, seems like something that should go unannounced and that we notice ourselves. Not only that, but I believe create-a-fan was in madden 2005 on the ps2 that advertised those same features. Not something that would make me want to buy this game.

To me, when I think of 'improved presentation', just look at the ancient game that shows this perfectly. There are nice stat overlays not only showing stats from players, but current standings, with commentary talking about this. Scores from other games also show up, with a decent weekly postgame show showing highlights from other games in your franchise. Things like this matter to me, and further draws me into franchise mode.

It also had multiple cutcsenes for different positions, showing head to head matchups, even some for head coaches, great replays where you see the whole field instead of seeing a close up of the ball carrier. And detailed commentary that has enough content to not get repetitive and actually flows well with the action on the field.

That's what I would like to see in madden 16, not female fans and foamfingers.

I do remember hearing how the NFL was part of the reason why many things were taken out. A lot of them are ridiculous, and it does sound like a call the NFL would make on most of these.

But they could of made it a limit on customs if they were really worried about the Raiders having a Pink helmet. Besides they have cancer awareness don't they? What the..... LOL

Makes me wonder why classic teams were taken out since 06'? Every since Madden hit last gen, classic teams got scrapped. PS2 and Xbox still had them in, and now they are just out. We have all of these classic players, but why not the old teams and stadiums? EA could of actually did a cool mode with them.

Create a fan was one person, not an entire audience. Please read my previous post on the previous page.

I wonder how many people on here complaining about these small additions to presentation were upset about "living worlds" and the crowd being lifeless, no females, and cameramen wearing shorts in the snow. Obviously there are more issues to be addressed still, but these are things many on here were asking for them to work on after Madden 15 came out.

I agree, maybe not the same people, but I clearly remember people complaining about how there are no females in Madden 15 and how there are no terrible towels etc... I don't care, I am looking forward to seeing the new additions and improvements except I don't care much for terrible towels

I get that plenty of people are amped for this game, but it's not fair to paint others as "complainers" simply for giving their opinion on what they've seen to this point.

Who would keep coming back to a forum like this if every post was: 'Yay love the additions EA can't wait to play the game!'
I wasn't saying they were complainers, just complaining about this specific thing, to me there's a difference, I'm just saying I wonder how many people that were complaining about that actually asked for these things last year.

I complained about living worlds if you were talking about me, as I didn't feel like the sidelines were 'living' as advertised, like sideline players not moving out of the way and instead gliding in a kneeling position completely unaffected by players running full speed at them. But at the same time, I didn't think that meant the addition of female fans with foamfingers either.

For me, my gripes with madden 15's presentation was covered in my last post. I do like that they're finally addressing how players behave after the play, and some of the improvements do sound good. Hopefully, a video will be shown so that we can see this in action.
