NBA 2KTV Reveals More NBA 2K16 Details, More Classic Teams, 3D Scanned Shoes & More

2K Sports released a new episode of NBA 2KTV today, complete with some of the first details of this upcoming year's game. Here are some of the highlights:

There will be more retro/classic teams in this year's game. Three teams were revealed: '99-'00 Raptors, '07-08 Celtics, '00-'01 Lakers. Based off of Scott's response, more teams will be revealed at a later date.
Some new shoes have been confirmed for Dwyane Wade and Klay Thompson. They are currently trying to get BrandBlack and Jamal Crawford's shoe in the game. Shoes are getting 3D scanned, so they should look a lot more realistic this year.
Reshot all of the crowd animations this year. A lot more exciting and pumped up animations to take the atmosphere to the next level as well.
Mike Wang: Biggest and most challenging year with gameplay yet. They're working on something big, it'll make the game look significantly better than any game before it.

At the end of the Mike Wang segment of the 2K16 preview, he says two words which the editing cleverly covers up. The details in the video are certainly solid, but we're even more anxious now to hear what else the 2K crew has up their sleeve for this season.

Any guesses on the 'big thing' they're working on for this year?

Isn't mike involved with animation and gameplay? So I doubt it's a mode. I'm gonna go with something to do with physics. Could really set the game apart from other sports titles

Ps4 classic teams and legends don't look nor feel right. I wish they would put more effort into it, as I'm still going back to last gen for them as they looked and felt waay better

My guess is this is something that has to do with Physics and momentum.
My second guess is this could be something that has to do with signature movement that has something to do with some improvement in physics.

The stuff about body scans that is the easy stuff. I don't think the stuff Mike Wang is talking about has to do anything with scans. It has something to do with the way the players move around the court and interact with each other.

Unless there is significant to both overall gameplay and online I'm good. After not playing 2k for a few months online I jumped on and was tickled at how pathetic this game plays online. The latency was inexcusable in 2014, and its still inexcusable in 2015.

I hope they can add 06' or 07' Rockets with Yao and T-Mac to 2K16, then I will bring this team to MyLeague mode and bring this duo a championship.

FINALLY they have the 01 Lakers, not sure why they had the 98 Lakers instead of the 01 team for so long...

I hope they scan the shoes while on the player's feet, tied up, as if they are about to play a game and not off the player's feet, untied, as if they are on display.

Really excited to see the classic teams and the crowd will be huge if done right. The shoes don't do anything for me but I know it does for a lot of people.

I hope they can scan accessories too, particularly arm sleeves because they just look painted on.

I hope they do have one of those teams. Yao was in myTeam this year after all.

Edit: I just checked those Rockets teams. It shouldn't be hard to get that team in-game. Most of the important guys are still in the NBA or are on other historic teams.

This was some good information. Mostly everything mentioned interested me. Shoes, 2001 Lakers are going to be sick, can't wait to do a teamup w/ them playing as Kobe and having someone as Shaq.

Definitely excited about the crowd. I am hoping they got it right this year since he mentioned the playoffs, so hopefully it's hype. The things Mike Wang said. Happy about it all so far.

Man, I hate that team. I guess it's cool since they aren't a current team anymore, but I hated playing them back in 2K8 or 2K9 days?
