EA Access News Post

The official EA Access twitter account today confirmed that the platform will only support six hours of Madden NFL 15 gameplay. Considering EA Sports Season Ticket offers Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 users access to the game for three full days, this news comes as a disappointment for Xbox One fans.

Without a Madden NFL 15 demo, EA Access and EA Sports Season Ticket is the only way consumers can play the game early. Unfortunately, EA Access is exclusive to the Xbox One, which means PlayStation 4 gamers are left out in the cold on any early access period.

While EA Access certainly has its benefits with The Vault, the sports gamer looked at the deal as a no-brainer, since it offered early access to games. However, with time limits set to just six hours of gameplay, that could deter many of them.

While EA Sports has confirmed demos for both NHL 15 and FIFA 15, we would like to hear from the community concerning the six hour gameplay limit for Madden NFL 15 on EA Access.

Sound off!

Just curious if anyone knows if EA has responded to the criticism (via press release, social media, etc.).

How did you supposedly know that you it wasn't going to be? Did you think that when 3 years ago they rolled out season ticket and promised 3 days early access? No more then likely not because we took them for their word. Now EA has lost all of the little credibility that they had and replaced said credibility with a massive heap of uncertainty, dis-loyalty and concern

I was waiting for EA to go heel again. They didn't disappoint! lol

First off, this is not a "demo" to decide whether or not you wish to purchase the game or not nor was it portrayed as that..

Secondly,
That is literally exactly what the Early Access part was portrayed as.

No, sir. Last week they stated that they were not releasing a demo, so that they can focus on the full game

Their PR team is probably working on a response right now.

Like I said I'm happy with the 6 hours, but it'll be interesting to see if all the negative reaction affects their plans.....

Yes, but the Early Access was clearly for customers to test the games before they buy the full game. I never said if it was a demo or a full game. I know they said it was going to be a full game, but it was always going to be used to test games.

Yeah it disappoints me but i still sold bf 4, Madden, and FIFA for $80 and still have them from the vault so it's not like I was only buying it for the Madden Trial, I was planning on buying madden anyway so oh well... :/

Secondly,
I'm going to start here. We won't be referring to anyone as 'son' any longer. If you would like to engage a conversation on OS, you will respect it's staff and members.

Also - It's not a demo. But it also isn't a full game purchase. It is easily access to the game as part of a subscription. Demos are notoriously 2-3 month old builds of games that are not full featured, nor do they normally have the ability to play full games. It was portrayed as 'early access to full featured game with a time limit'. It constantly said 'limit' in most of the releases they gave.

EA has once again played us. This along with NHL 15 not having OTP/Clubs for Next-Gen (xWON/PS4) is completely unacceptable and inexusable
You may not care, but I've been playing Madden 25 and Peggle 2. I have friends who did not buy Battlefield that are really enjoying it. I had someone tweet me today that said it was worth the subscription just to play FIFA 14 because he isn't a big enough soccer fan to warrant a full purchase. He is playing the FULL game now for $2.50 a month.

Guys, WE ARE THE MINORITY. Hard-core/sim gamers are a vocal minority, but we are still the minority. This subscription service may not be for all of us. But just because you don't like it doesn't mean others aren't loving every minute of it.

Yeah and down the hall to the left, the finance department is looking at more projections. lol

As I see it EA has two options to escape this waist high quick sand they've willing and over confidently jumped into:

1) Issue an apology for not having the customers wants in sight and add AT LEAST 10 hrs to the 6 hr restraint

OR

2) Issue a full statement explaing the stipulations of the 6 hrs. Is it only on field time calculated or does the timer start as soon as you push start from the load screen. And if it is 6 hrs only for full access, atleast keep other parts of the game open like practice mode, gauntlet, roster screens and other smaller pieces of the game

One thing I can say is it's obvious why EA would not want to release a game 5 full days in advance if there is a campaign mode. (Because people would play nonstop until they beat it, obviously).

But with a sports game, you can't really "beat" the game. Like I don't think anyone will play CFM and once they win the Super Bowl they will never play again. I think that is a legitimate point to be made (I can't take credit for it, read it somewhere else by someone who was complaining lol)...

Don't expect an apology to be coming. Peter Moore has tweeted what I would consider the EA stance on this in the last 40 minutes.

Thanks for the heads up. Yeah I don't expect anything either.

If the census follows through with their threats of canceling their subscriptions, I''d love to be the fly on the wall in the next shareholders meetings. lol

"Peter, you told us that it will be a hit!! Peter!!!!"

The good thing is we're just a week from official release. Once the game drops, this will just be a slight bump in the road.

I'm not sure it is going to be as bad you as you may think. Again, I have found more people that are happy with their one year subscription than I thought I would.

People like cheap games. And when you put AAA titles up (even launch titles) many casual gamers will jump at the chance to play them for little cost.

I'll say it again, we are the minority. Once we understand that, the business model they are using is very solid.

If they never go back on the 6 hours I wonder if the program might evolve and end up making it a permanent offer... A month from now if someone is interested in Madden then $5 gets them the 6 hour trial and access to the vault and discounts. Several months from now $5 gets you a taste of a number of franchises as well as access to new vault games like NFS and PvZ. The perk would stll be valid for 'early access' but remove the end of it.

I agree, I'm just peed off right now. lol

And your point is very valid if you visit 'mainstream' sites

Exactly, long gone and forgotten. More like crossing the white lines to change lanes.
