EA Access News Post

The official EA Access twitter account today confirmed that the platform will only support six hours of Madden NFL 15 gameplay. Considering EA Sports Season Ticket offers Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 users access to the game for three full days, this news comes as a disappointment for Xbox One fans.

Without a Madden NFL 15 demo, EA Access and EA Sports Season Ticket is the only way consumers can play the game early. Unfortunately, EA Access is exclusive to the Xbox One, which means PlayStation 4 gamers are left out in the cold on any early access period.

While EA Access certainly has its benefits with The Vault, the sports gamer looked at the deal as a no-brainer, since it offered early access to games. However, with time limits set to just six hours of gameplay, that could deter many of them.

While EA Sports has confirmed demos for both NHL 15 and FIFA 15, we would like to hear from the community concerning the six hour gameplay limit for Madden NFL 15 on EA Access.

Sound off!

You are only getting 6 hours for Madden so EA can control the flow of opinions of the game before the game hits shelves. The less time you have with the game prior to release, the less you can pick apart and broadcast your opinion to the public which is why there is no DEMO for the game this year either. They took a look at how much chatter happened when the Live demo dropped last year before it hit shelves. All the negative backlash about Live demo/early access or whatever you want to call it had a major impact on sales and Scott O'Brien was having to spin a PR nightmare even before the game actually went on sale. THIS is why you get no demo this year for Madden. So why the 6 hour early access bone? Well its for XB1 only and thats because of the triangle deal between EA and the NFL and now XB1 and the NFL. I think EA had to "give them something" but they gave as little as they could to control chatter before they got your 60.00. I'm not saying Madden is going to be bad, I'm just saying they want your money before a ton of opinons can be hatched to influence your decision to purchase. Why do you think no major online video game pub puts the Madden review out before it hits shelves? Because they are asked not to by EA Sports.. its a one hand washes the other... online pubs play nice with EA and EA will keep them on the "A" list for interviews, preview content, stories, etc. Without that kind of access to the likes of EA and other big game developers online places like IGN, Gameinformer and even here would start to die.

I don't understand why y'all thought something like this wouldn't happen. I only buy Madden because there's no other option. As soon as the exclusive license is up, I'll be the first one out the door. Guaranteed.

MUT is a cash grab.

We should all contact EA. They left this information out in order to get people to purchase a product. Then after they sold it barely announced it. This is ridiculous.

This thread has already run its course. Sorry guys. People can't talk about this issue without gloating, insults, trolling, and the rest no reason to keep it open.

After some talk in the back, this thread is going to be opened up again. I will say this though. If people can't express how they feel in a mature, respectful and adult manner the hammer will be swift.

I don't want to see anything like what I saw this afternoon. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and they should be able to express that without insult, gloating, whining our down right being rude to fellow posters.

So with that said, this thread is back open.

Disappointing. I am not interested in the other vault games, and have BF4 on my PC that I still play. I was only going to buy this for early access to Madden and perhaps other EA Sports titles in the future. But to put a limit on the # of hours I get to play it after having the Season Pass previously is something I am not willing to pay for. Saved my $ I guess by finding out about this before purchase. Oh well, I will wait the extra 5 days and enjoy Madden on the 26th.

It's amazing how things have changed... All this nonsense about EA access wouldn't have mattered a few years ago because the game would usually release the Tuesday after the hall of fame game.

By EA deciding to delay the release to the last week in August and having no demo this year has frustrated a lot of gamers including myself because the pre-season has started and everyone wants their football fix.. i miss the good old days.

I mentioned in the other EA Access thread a day or two ago how the wording on the EA Access app was ambiguous. I pretty much agree on both sides of this argument: those who feel cheated for whatever reason, and those who say that EA made their intentions clear with this "limited" wording on their app. Most of us just feel as though they should have been much more clear about everything as soon as they released the app, especially when "early & limited access" used to mean: "try the game for the entire duration of 3 days before release." Three days was still a limited time, but there was no time limit within that time limit, if that makes sense.

I feel bad for the people that paid for this just to get Madden 15 a little earlier, but I feel 2x as bad for the guy that bought this service and doesn't frequent Twitter or any online gaming site (including OS). That guy is in for a rude awakening when he starts playing later this week, only to see a counter ticking the time away. If EA were upfront about this from day 1, no one would be able to complain about being misled.

The hysteria is relative, game could come out after the Super Bowl and the circus (trying to find an early copy, the dust-up over early access, etc) would follow.

After having time to think all of this over, I will say this.

A. EA Access is either $5 a month or $2.50 a month if you do a year. So with the vault, if theres something in there you want to play and not buy, you can pay a monthly rental fee for it. I'd rate that B+ (Will be an A+ when it gets really full of titles)

B. Limited trials were discussed up front, but they were not clear as they should've been with sports titles. Everyone assumed that it would be 2 hours or limited with the story mode games, and Battlefield, but not sports titles. I'll rate this C- (For EA not being up front, nor following the EA Season Ticket.)

C. EA Season ticket was 72 hours of gaming, and EA Access is 6 hours right now. That 6 hours is weak compared to the 72 hours. Now had EA given us 10 hours that would've been even better. Most gamers play 2-3 hours a day, but with it being on a weekend. 20 hours would've been the target number. I would be perfectly happy with 2-4 hours per day of gaming given out. F-

Wish everyone would just offer demos to those who pre-order. Seems that is fair...

# 278 Flightwhite24 @ 08/18/14 08:11 PM
I was hoping to enjoy the EA early access for 5 "FULL" days instead of "Clock Watching" for 6 hours

I can't say I'm not disappointed but it's still worth its weight and gold for what I'm currently getting from it in BF4 & Fifa 14

The NBA Live 14 demo released on November 19, which was the exact same day that the full game went on sale at stores.

NBA Live 14 also was not shown to the public prior to its release, apart from E3, where all they had available to play was the one person practice mode that was later patched into the game.

Meanwhile, multiple games of Madden NFL 15 have been streamed in full, and most of its modes have been demoed on Twitch. There is plenty of footage out there for people to make an educated decision on whether or not they will like the game, which is pretty much the complete opposite of how NBA Live 14 was handled, prior to its release.
