NBA 2K15 MyLEAGUE Interview

We recently had a chance to interview Rob Jones, Sr. Producer Visual Concepts and Erick Boenisch, Sr. Producer, Visual Concepts to talk about a new mode for NBA 2K15 called MyLEAGUE, exclusive for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Before we get into the interview, here is a quick rundown on some of the options. In a nutshell, it’s the Association Mode that we all know and loved on old-gen consoles, on steroids.

MyLEAGUE offers both a single season or up to an 80 year franchise experience. You will have complete control over every aspect of how your league plays out.

Just one quick question regarding MyLeague: How much more of a role do "non-financial ambitions" play in where a player decides to sign, particularly with aging veterans? Teams like the Heat (and now the Cavaliers) pretty much rely on veteran role players taking substantial pay cuts in order to fill out their teams. Will this be a reality in MyLeague?

Yes I know I can tweak the slider for this, but I'm more focused on the mindset of older players as they are much more likely to chase titles instead of money. I don't want to make EVERY player think this way, and that's what I would be doing by relying on the slider to get these results if they're not in the game by default.

They still have yet to release any details on their "improved Online League functionality" or the Next-Gen "Crew" replacement

And then there's MyCareer, additional MyLeague news, ... Oh, and gameplay improvements, if you're into that sorta thing..

As in love as I am with this feature/announcement, I want the FIBA tournament and national teams incorporated into this game for MyCareer, MyGM and MyLeague. This needs to be hammered home. It's been too long since those teams were in a game.

EXACTLY! My idea was to add this customization, have the game automatically progress a player's influences from selfish at the beginning of their career (money, wanting to be "the man", personal stats/touches/etc.) to more balanced in their mid/late 20s and early 30s and then to have a higher tendency to choose titles over money in their mid 30s and on, and/or break down the influences/ambitions sliders into separate age or years of experience sections so you can make large scale changes at once.

For real, why even have MyGM if MyLeague is in? It seems like MyLeague is the vastly improved version of MyGM anyways. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the differences are, but I believe MyLeague will get the vast majority of my playing time.

@LD2K, i wanted to know since we not getting online My Leagues, wanted to know will 2k give us the tools , we need to the Online leagues, so it can be competitive all year long, like save options, playbooks, etc., appreciate you giving a response, Big kev, kevmasood2k, twitter

MyGm is probably still going to try to focus on the interactions between you, the owner, the players, etc. If they can tune it up and make the interactions better (and reduce the VC usage), it could still be a nice counter-point to MyLeague

nother question for 2k...

IF manual injuries are added, will it be only to myleague or will it pertain to roster editing also?

also, has the sim engine been changed to allow for more than a block or steal average greater than 2?

But if your looking to play the CPU this mode is for you , personally i can score over 100 points with my MyPlayer a game on HOF 12 min QTRS for 4k VC. The CPU Isnt Competition to me , My Friends and other NBA2k fans in the Community are. @ChillionaireNW , @NBA2kPodcast

I was looking for 3 main things out of this game...

1. Return and improvement of Association Mode
2. Players that play like their real-life counterparts (sig moves, dribbles and motions)
3. Tweaks to gameplay and elimination of unstoppable moves (the runner that always goes, post shots that never miss, dunks through 3 defenders)

One down, 2 to go!

I and a few others suggested body part durability last year. I can't believe 2K actually did it.

I really hope custom POEs are extra slots to create your own defensive settings as a POe.

Defensive strategy on next gen was almost nonexistent last year.
