EA Sports UFC News Post

EA Sports UFC patch version 1.02 is available now, which includes 3 new fighters (Takeya Mizugaki, TJ Dillashaw and Tyron Woodley) and quite a few fixes (as seen above).

EA Sports has also released a new trailer featuring the new fighters here.

Key Gameplay Updates:
  • Touch Gloves: Users will now have the ability to manually make their fighter touch gloves (or choose not to touch gloves) before beginning to fight by pressing L2 on PS4 or LB on Xbox One. This can be done at the start of every round, or anytime the ref stands the fighters up.
  • Finish the Fight: During a knockout, the attacking fighter can jump on their downed opponent and “finish the fight” by delivering extra strikes as the knockout occurs.
  • Sprawls: The defending fighter now sprawls when successfully defending against a power takedown.
  • Clinch Break from the Cage: Fighters now have the ability to break out of a clinch when pressed against the fence by pressing the L3 button.
  • Power Takedowns and Sweeps: Power takedowns and side control sweeps have been removed from fighters who would not normally have them.
  • Stamina: Stamina no longer regenerates if the user holds block. The user will also take a larger stamina penalty if hit while weak blocking.
  • Sweep Defense: The dominant fighter in the Full Guard position now has a larger window to reverse the Full Guard sweep to Mount.
Play a few matches and let us know what you think.

Yes but u have to mix in some rest with the step back and side steps. Plus the stamina penalties are much higher for the spammers so making them miss will eventually put u at an advantage.

Gotta adjust my man. I bet we will all have to adjust next patch too depending on what they change.

- Seeing the CPU regularly stand up from dominant positions like mount and side control. This is happening with guys like Guida who should prefer ground and pound.

Not related to this patch as this was happening before but still good to point this out. So dumb... Hopefully the AI changes which should come next will address this.

Anyways, I do worry about the giant window to block the full guard sweep. I would argue that the window should be put back to the original setting and instead replace non BJJ ace movesets with a standup move.

Anyone else noticing that Woodley seems really weak? I've only played 2 fights with him, but I played on beginner and fought Demian Maia and Pascal Kraus (wanted to get some highlight KO's). I was repetedly connecting to the head, but both fights went the distance and ended in UD's (I even somehow lost the decision to Maia ) I probably should test it more, but he just doesn't feel powerful. Anyone else notice this? Oh and the stand ups have gotten ridiculous, I get stood up while pounding a guy in full back control wtf.

I welcome the changes but I still long for the day when the guy that decides to throw special hit pays for it. I still don't see that. When you use that kind of energy, you should be highly susceptible to a KO.

WTF ? Woodley is a beast. Haven't lost with him yet. His leg kicks are powerful and so are his hands. To me Woodley is a straight KO artist in this game. I love playing with Woodley.

Has anyone figured how to touch gloves on Xbox One yet? I had my first title defense against Chuck Liddell and he reached his hand out to touch and I was like "oh snap....how do???"

Reed is comin' atcha!!

Side step, backaway, parry. Weak block is exactly what it says, weak, enough to block 1 shoy while getting your bearings for your next course of action.

I played a quick match before I went to work and I liked what was patched in. Props to EA, there's hope with this game because changes are actually being made.

Hold in the left trigger and walk toward your opponent. I think it is an allowed animation anytime a round starts or you are pulled apart by the ref and start back again from your corner. The window to touch gloves closes after the action begins.

If the EA developer is here, he can discuss it with us. My opinion on the sweep from guard is that the problem isn't really the big time to defend because is a rare move, but the lack of other options from the guy on the bottom.

Bottom guard should be able to go near the cage to get up using the walls and more ways to get up even in the middle. Also, if you pull a submission you can make the opponent run, like pushing your arm in the arm bar, so guard guy can get up and continue the fight.

At least this is what happens in reality.

I agree with full guard having no options now. I would have preferred an animation change that had the swept fighter regain guard. Even if it didn't look rightn for balance purposes. Right now, guard is like being mounted except that you can throw up a sub.

I don't mind guard the way it is, the kick off animation is not the realist by any stretch but I think in the context of getting the fight back standing it does the job well. Once I have someone in my guard my first move is to look for the opponent to try and pass to half guard which will give me my window to click L3 and get the fight back standing (If I want it standing). Its when people freak out and just click L3 over and over again, they gas themselves and will easily get GnP out by me.

Last night I took Cormier and the other guy took Bones Jones. I thought to my self a quick sec "Damn of COURSE they will take the highest rated guy in the weight class, it is every single championship fight, so annoying fighting the same guys over and over". Then I stepped back a second and thought "well this fight might really happen sooooo".

I stepped out and the Jones throws a flying knee off the bat, right as he lands I go for a power take down and slam Jones. I block several get up and pass attempts then move to full mount while he is gassed. I then posture up and start raining down blows so Jones panics and starts trying everything to get out which only equaled to him eating heavy shots. Less than a min in the fight I TKOed him, he threw one single attack and then got destroyed on the ground.

The changes are good but will take a second to get adjusted to. One other area I noticed is you can get rocked way easier so defending and not standing to exchange like rockem sockem is critical to survival.

I hear ya, you just don't even have to do that much you can shoot the standard double, which has a smaller window to defend, and just posture, punch, punch stop escape repeat, never get stood up, and eventually cause enough damage to get a tko. The person on bottom is losing stamina every time you land or they block, so you are never at a stamina disadvantage and don't have to worry about subs if you are at leas semi competent at escaping them. Right now guard dominant, is a very dominant position and you have no reason to pass. Its easier to keep them while in their guard than it is to keep them in any dominant position. From a game balance stand point this might end up geing a problem.

I mean as a ground and pound guy, I love it. Easier for me, but it is a pain in the *** to be stuck in full guard, where you should be neutral and defend easier. That is not the case so much. You can be very content to raindown punches in the guard. Also, never stack, you can actually be swept from the stack and thst is a difficult transion to read. It's a problem when being stacked is safer than having full guard.

Spam still happens at lighter weights. This moron used Bruce Lee throwing nonstop spinning crap etc. I evaded pretty much all of it. Yet in third round he probably still had 80-85% perm stamina so this crap went on the entire fight.
