I thought this was cool. Even though it wasn't an ideal off season for the Heat, whether serious or not, makes for great story lines. Especially with Kobe as his second greatest.
Slightly surprised they didnt convince him to change it to 6. Jersey sales would go through the roof (even more through the roof then they have/will be).
The only reason that is even a thought, not having his own legacy, is because the media and everyone is stupid.. Could have said the same about number 6 and living up to Dr. J and Bill Russell.. It's not "MJ" but you get what I'm saying.
Nothing wrong with this move by Bron. A number is a number. His rings/assists/points/etc isn't going to be worth more or less by wearing 6, 23, 32, 00 or whatever.
That said, does make that whole "23 should be retired by the league" thing look silly and just furthers the sham of how the big 3 got together.
Waiting for Three King to freak out about LeBron changing his number to 23 after saying it should be retired..we know that kind of stuff is serious business...

So in your opinion anyone can come out, say something and then do the exact opposite of what he just said and everything is cool ?
I don't think it's a big deal but it's still something to point out.
Personally I think it's perfectly fine that he wears 23 or that Jeremy Lin decides to wear 23. But Lebon really changed his mind on the subject it seems.
It's a uniform number, b. His legacy is in tact and his own with or without #6
I know, lol. Just saying that 23 will never be *his* number, I know other legends have had number 6 but nowadays people care a whole lot about this stuff so if he were to wear 6 it would be "his" number.
He said it because he was leaving to Chicago or Miami, IMO. Both teams have 23 retired, he was going to be forced to change it.

I'm pretty sure when he announced he was changing his number it was during the season, long before FA started or which team he thought he was going to.
It's not really a big deal, it just further cements the fact that athletes should stop talking. lol

That was in 09 when he said that, it's now 2014, people's ideas change over time.

Or maybe people should just stop taking what athletes say as an absolute truth of how they will always feel. Things and people change all the time
