Madden NFL 15 News Post

EA Sports has just released another Madden NFL 15 video. This one features the new Gauntlet mode. I had fun with it at E3, so I might be able to answer a few questions. Otherwise, ask away and I'll get some answers from the Producers.

Quote:
The Gauntlet is available as part of Skills Trainer in Madden NFL 15, which has received a major upgrade of its own. This year Skills Trainer will feature 48 different tutorials, drills and challenges, encompassing not only tradition in-game skills, but football strategy as well. Players can learn basic concepts like what a Cover 2 defense actually is, as well as what kinds of plays are designed to beat it. This expansion of Skills Trainer provides something for almost everyone, from brand-new Madden NFL players to 25-year vets. Once you’ve mastered Skills Trainer, put your newfound knowledge to the test in The Gauntlet!

I had a lot of fun w mini camp drills in '05 and '06 and this tells me they are getting to those fundamental aspects that marketed well.

Its not meat and potatoes but it is what is: a nice liesure mode to have fun w while you polish your skills.

They are not marketing this game for the 30+ age demographic guys: we gotta adjust to this the older we get.

If it were not for the mature gamers I gamed w in my early twenties: my Madden growth would have been stunted - most of these kids & teens will grow-up continuing to love this marvel until they too shed their adolescence.

Im done expecting the game to mature and evolve to fit a grown mans needs: Madden was never published for that purpose.

you are right......I have been very frustrated with the last few videos i have seen. I have to get over the fact that im over 30 and this game is not made for my age group. Us buying the game is a plus to the company...but if that is the case and you know you are not going to make a full sim game, then decline the license....OH wait...that dont make business sense......we lose!!!

Not sure why they even bother with this. Are they not aware the rest of the game needs a lot of work?

whats with all the reporters in one of the drills

cmon EA you can't do this and not put them in practice unis like FIFA and past Maddens.. it just looks silly with guys in full uniform and pads scouts huddled around. Just takes you right out of the immersion.

Now despite that, glad they added some practice to teach football instead of Madden.

Animations looked kind of bad, unimpressed by how the game looked.

Looks interesting enough for me to mess around with. Not sure how much I'll play it, unless its somehow tied to CFM, but I could see having buddies over and competing for high score.

I feel the same. It looks like some type of backbreaker tackle alley game and a few others. I enjoyed tackle alley and loved the ps2 Madden mini games so I like this mode in theory but watching this video just reminded me how badly this game animates. It just kills it.

"WE ARE SERIOUS ABOUT MAKING MADDEN A SIM GAME" - Madden devs every year.

I swear I knew madden 15 was going to be that game especially with no ncaa coming; that would be more budget in madden...WRONG.....FIFA is EA's number game now so dont expect much from madden for this generation. Fifa on next gen a large overhaul...even hockey got a large overhaul...PLEASE someone explain to me why not madden...im so confused and frustrated....cmon man, practice with full uniforms on..REALLY!!!

Would be more interested if it was part of CCM as a training camp feature or draft combine feature.

# 31 MAGboyswifT27 @ 07/11/14 02:54 AM
It looks fun but how long will that last? I do like the idea of this feature being involved somehow with your player or career mode mixed in with the draft, training, team, etc.

# 32 friscob @ 07/11/14 03:06 AM
Ill never touch it unless its tied into ccm and im forced to.

Really dont know why they cant just bring back classic mini games like rushing attack that could be playable online with friends. I used to love playing the ncaa mini games like tug of war, special teams challenge, option dash, etc with friends. If they would create the ability to play those online im sure a lot of ppl would love it. They could even sell it as dlc to make an extra buck. Or only let you use layers youve unlocked or bought since and go all 2K with it

Er... I just registered here to say that No, I am not interested.

Whomever this video is aimed to... I know for sure it is not aimed at me.

Atrocious, grating, tone-def voice taunting me for a challenge that looks hilariously bad, with clunky movements and 'pop-in' audio collisions effects that belong in a bad 90's arcade game.

Seriously ?

Looks like something I might try once and then probably never again. More into just playing actual games than this type of stuff.

Looks like a interesting way to get the feel of the game and as a intro Segway thing, and this is aimed at the casual gamer of course who needs the help with passing or running the flare is for the people who like it come on y'all lets put on our business savvy hats with our hardcore gamer glasses. Ea has to do both appeal to hardcore gamers and casual ones alike that's why this stuff exists why the game will always have some of the same issues and why they will market the way they do.....so please stop with the 2k this's and that woulda coulda shoulda this is the game you got love it or not it's what we got might have pissed off some of y'all oh we'll tired of reading all the negativity on this site about it EA there not a perfect company but the amount of whinnying that goes on is annoying when all the other games have the same amount of issues 2k be all mlb the show both great gamers have there legacy issues and there short comings but don't get half the grief madden does not a homer not like that just tired of all the damn hate I see on this site every time madden puts news up roast me now or whatever continue the cycle

The mode is clearly aimed at the younger demographic, probably under 12. Nothing wrong with that imo

At some point, we have to remember EA has to make a game that's appealing for all audiences and that's just the nature of the business. If you look at this from the "they should have invested those resources on gameplay or cfm" perspective, you're doing it wrong or you're new to the business world.

That being said, I'm sure this mode wouldn't bother anyone (from the older Madden demographic) if the resources they do invest in gameplay/cfm were properly utilized :/

I'd take 10 different mocap RB styles over this any day of the week.

How hard can that be? One for guys like Marshawn Lynch and Frank Gore, another for guys like AP and Shady McCoy, and another for backs like Woodhead and Sproles.

Yep, totally agree here, I'm seeing the same type of comments when virtual trainer was introduced five years ago.

Skills trainer re-skinned with voice over work? Yet the only mention of Franchise mode has been a more "fleshed out practice"? Come on man, this is what Mr Dickson puffed his chest out about and told 2K to buy up the licence for? Just
