Madden NFL 15 News Post

EA Sports has just released another Madden NFL 15 video. This one features the new Gauntlet mode. I had fun with it at E3, so I might be able to answer a few questions. Otherwise, ask away and I'll get some answers from the Producers.

Quote:
The Gauntlet is available as part of Skills Trainer in Madden NFL 15, which has received a major upgrade of its own. This year Skills Trainer will feature 48 different tutorials, drills and challenges, encompassing not only tradition in-game skills, but football strategy as well. Players can learn basic concepts like what a Cover 2 defense actually is, as well as what kinds of plays are designed to beat it. This expansion of Skills Trainer provides something for almost everyone, from brand-new Madden NFL players to 25-year vets. Once you’ve mastered Skills Trainer, put your newfound knowledge to the test in The Gauntlet!

Is this something you are interested in?

Everyone needs more details and a timeframe.

Clint just tweeted this week franchise info will be delivered in the next two weeks.

Not gloom and doom, yet. lol

The video narrator they chose is the epitome of what's wrong with Tiburon and Madden. Who is this targeting, 12 year olds? This direction carries over into what they choose to prioritize in game.

"Sorry, no realistic player momentum, we think people won't understand that."

"Sorry, no updates to franchise mode, we think people don't care about in depth roster management."

"Hey guys look how awesome our grass is! BOSS MODE"

And virtual trainer has already been scrapped. Do the RB's still have precision modifier moves? Or was that scrapped too? I think this would be cool but they should intergrate it into the Franchise. Have this be part of the offseason. Maybe put your new draft picks through drills or something. Instead of this arcade thing with an annoying voice.

And if something wasn't used often, it should be scrapped, that's marketing for you. New and improved.

I just put this quote in the Polygon thread, but maybe it should go here, too.

"As Cam and I crafted this vision to take the game toward 'more realistic and more authentic,' what we realized is, if we don't teach people how football works, they're never going to understand this game," Dickson continued. "That's really why the Skills Trainer mode was developed, is because I basically pitched that we need a tutorial system if we're going to keep going in a realistic, authentic direction."

That quote is quite funny

I am happy about the game play improvements on the defensive side as long as it is not over powered. Everything looks timing based which is not good, when all it takes is a bit of practice and you're dominating and getting 30 sacks in a season. To me that's not fun. While I appreciate the presentation improvements, if you play the game long enough it gets stale whether you like it or not. If they don't blow my socks off with franchise mode news I am not buying the game this year. I play franchise 110% nothing else, no MUT, no crappy skills trainer, no play now, and for my 60 dollars which for me is a lot I need to get my money's worth.

Thumbs down. Just stop it EA. Everything from the voice to some of the tackling on there was horrible.

sidenote: SMH I'm playing Madden 25 the other day and intercept a throw from Russel Wilson with Trent Cole. I'm running it back down the sideline towards Russel and he does a hit stick tackle on me and I fumble. I almost threw my controller at the TV.

If this is to teach the game, it could've been set up much more like a practice.

Is that the voice you'd hear? Why not a coach actually coaching?

Maybe they just didn't show much, but as is, it looks more like a distraction.

The narration made me want to punch the screen.

Looks like fun to me. I've always liked the mini-games in Madden and NCAA over the years.

That voice over after the 3rd time makes you either very irritated or want to hit something..

The animations, lack of momentum and tackling are laughably bad and stick out like a sore thumb especially now with the great graphics.

Yeah, if that narrator is the in-game voice-over for the mode then I won't be pleased lol.

I want to believe that they'll have Trey Wingo record some explanation voice-overs like they've done for the past two years, but I obviously have nothing to base that on beyond what's been included in the Skills Trainer of Madden 25 and the in-game help videos for Madden 13.

What's up guys? You honestly think we would create The Gauntlet in place of core mode improvements? Let's not jump to conclusions.

Also, the mode is really fun, if you want to take my word for it. Trying to get a high score is very addicting. Trust me.

Yes I absolutely think you'd create the Gauntlet in place of core mode improvements.

I think that some consumers face challenges with the title because resources and attention is put towards features/new modes, while the gameplay is ignored and remains the same with the same legacy issues and animations that make it seem like the same game year after year but touting new and improved grass textures/Playcallng screens/stadiums/living worlds.

All due respect, with how the animations look, yes I do think that is the case.

CPU VS CPU Oflline franchise should have been added into the game instead of the GAUNTLET Whistle Whistle
