Madden NFL 15 News Post

EA Sports has just released another Madden NFL 15 trailer. This one focuses on the War in the Trenches 2.0. Check out some of the new screenshots here and the official blog for more details.

Quote:
In Madden 15, you’ll deliver on defense with more effective tackling and pass rush tools that put you in control of each play, all from a new perspective.

See your defensive gameplay from an all-new perspective. By pressing left on the D-Pad, you’ll activate the new defensive camera angle, putting you right in the action. To lock on to a specific player using the defensive camera, press right on the D-Pad.

The core of football starts at the line of scrimmage. The addition of War in the Trenches to Madden 25 overhauled the offensive line play by giving offensive linemen the intelligence to work as a team and create an authentic passing pocket.

What I'd like to see this team do more, as well as marketing, is show examples of how the game has improved over last year with footage. Like set up situations and say this is how it worked/looked in Madden 25, this is how it looks/works in Madden 15. It would certainly help us see the differences better. For me that is always the best marketing.

This. Thought I was the only one who noticed. Also was not a fan of the Drew Brees pass -- confirmed that sig QB animations are on the back burner another year. I can't jump back in til those are addressed...not when other sports games overwhelm you with signature anims.

Playing Dline is already OP in madden 25. now they just made it more cheese and stupid. Sim game players are going to have to have rules against using dline to even make this fair.

Honestly man I applaud your enthusiasm, but hearing a 3 yr or I have to wait for all the changes 2 years from now is something I don't want to hear before the newest madden is even out. I cant go tell my boss tomorrow, u know wait 2 years from now I'll have it down. It doesn't cut the mustard, if there was another game in town there knees would be knocking. I'm not saying this to be negative or anything I actually really liked last years and thought it was the best in quite some time. I am excited for this years just due to the graphics, pres, & lighting effects, besides that it won't be much different. I have just been a disappointed customer yr in an yr out and just also say well its madden again, it is what it is. When will this game be ground breaking and know that this the best football series ever? Baseball- The show Basketball- NBA 2K Now those companies blew up the genre of sports games. I'm sad to say madden never will.

They haven't worked on the tackling in forever it seems, the same boring tackles over and over, needs work. I never watch real football and say, hey I seen that in Madden! Its why isn't that in madden and wish it was in madden.
Its time to get things right and stop saying next yr next yr.

The best part of all of this is going to be the ability to steer the o-lineman into holes or outside to hold an edge in the running game or qb containment. I just hope its not gonna be overpowered one way or another.

Anybody notice the lack of the 3d grass in those screen shots? Have they finally given up on the grass pitch? lol

Nah they have "infinite grass" tech this year.

I agree because we've been thinking that way far too long now, its time Tiburon puts in mega work to get the game right this year, not next year or the following year. The Capital that EA has these days leaves no more excuses for these tedious steps each year. Now is the time to bring it and bring it hard. So enough with the waiting..we've waited far too long for a game the represents the real thing.

I will say this though...i do like what i see, i absolutely love the huge visual upgrade, i absolutely love the more robust gameplay elements...now i just wonder about those very aged Animations and the pokey AI logic...while it is good in some aspects..other times its dodgy.

I really hope they impress us because i am almost out of patients but again, i like what i am seeing here!

This guy lol. Didn't you say the same thing about Madden 25 next gen? Hmm.........Think about what you're saying for a second JP. So in the next 2 years which will be 2016, the game will finally be amazing? Are we supposed to be excited that we might finally get a great game after waiting for so long or should we be more angry that we might FINALLY get a great game after waiting for more than a decade? Just trying to understand your logic

@1:09 (Rams vs. 49ers) - what the hell is the middle linebacker doing? He takes a couple of steps forward at the snap to meet the fullback in the hole, steps that almost looks like a read steps. Then inexplicably (probably to get the draw play to work) he takes a bunch of steps back just as the ball is being handed off to the back, allowing himself to be blocked. I know this is "War in the Trenches 2.0", but where is this player sense I keep hearing about?

Looks like that issue with the linebacker reacting to the draw play is still there.

Those QB passing animations...ouch

Drew Brees' throwing motion looks like Tim Tebow

# 73 NicVirtue @ 07/09/14 10:50 PM
It just seems like the bare minimum. Nothing screams "This is a 2014 Football game on PS4 and XB1". None of these things make me forget about what we were spoiled with a decade ago. They should be doing things that are miles beyond what we had....but instead it just feels like I'm being spoon fed $60 worth of football in little tiny bits each year. Why even have QB throwing motions in the game if they don't work? Why even have physics if the animations over ride them? Why even have the rights to ESPN if you don't use it in Madden?

The struggles of a simulation football gamer Maybe if I just give up, throw all my football knowledge out the window and set my expectations below dirt, I'll be happy playing Madden.

I'm afraid with this new war in the trenches mechanic that it will be way overpowered. This is my early prediction. EA wants this feature to be cool and effective and allow the user to use it and make it work. My future prediction that to battle this, is to bump up the cpu offensive line slider to max to combat the over cheesed mechanic. If its still there, the list of sliders keeps dwindling down to nothing. But I hope I'm wrong.

Everything I've heard from people who actually played the game, is that it's a much more balanced game between offense and defense. I'll keep saying it til people see for themselves, this is just the foundation. Once they get the fundamentals in, they'll really start to go after the "cute" stuff as Rex calls it.

Need to see how this plays/feels/impacts the game before I determine whether this is a positive, but generally speaking I like the ideas they show. Seems like this is a good step forward for making every position a playable position, worth playing, and having an impact on the game. Realistically we should see 11 vs 11 games this generation and making each position more realistic is one step towards that reality. Have to admit, it would be cool as heck to play on a football team with a full league/team of players. Though I bet it would be hard as heck to get your games in! From past league experience just getting 1vs1 games in can be tough.

This

All EA is going to give us is maddenball. Expecting anything else by now is just plain stupid to me. Been saying this the last three years now.

I agree 100% at the end of the day it's a video game. I love that they are adding to the much needed defensive side of the ball.

Sadly, they haven't made any improvements to the Online Team Play mode since it debuted in Madden NFL 11.

At the very least, 7 vs. 7 would be a lot fun, since everyone could play a skill position.

There are enough people on this site that we would have no problem fielding a full club. We've been able to play full 11 vs. 11 matches in FIFA 14 for the last week, and that game has a much smaller following here than Madden does.

Years ago, people would have thought this looked amazing.

In 2014, no matter what they do, people are gonna just gripe and complain, endlessly. That's more disturbing to me.
