WWE 2K15 News Post

GameInformer published an article today with a few details on the PS4/XB1 debut of the WWE 2K series. There are several interesting tidbits in the article, here are some highlights:
  • Visual Concepts is taking a much bigger role this year in the game's development. One area they are particularly involved in is the face scanning process, which is the same as NBA 2K.
  • Face scan results are all said to be quite impressive.
  • Visual concepts is working towards more realistic match pacing and flow, the goal is to mimic WWE TV broadcasts as much as possible.
  • There are 5x more animations than in 2K14.
  • WWE 2K15 features five times more audio commentary lines versus last years game.
WWE 2K15 is set to launch on October 28, we are expecting more info on the game to start arriving soon!

Visual Concepts taking a role in development takes away the role of Yukes, so it's pretty much impossible for there not to be major improvements.

Sounds good so far.

This looks to be the first major overhaul since the first Smackdown vs. Raw game. 2K has the best motion capture and commentary in sports gaming. I'm excited already.

Yukes is not completely eliminated from the game, yet.

That all sounds very very good.

A new months-later cutoff date for inclusion of the latest WWE content will help ensure that the game is that much closer to the latest roster and storylines.

This is also good news.

Sounds good for the little tidbit of information provided. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Good to see Visual Concepts take a bigger role in the game than whatever THQ did after 2006. I had high hopes that Visual Concepts would take a big role and it seems to be coming true.

From what I have heard around the internet, SummerSlam will probably be the time frame for all that to be unveiled.

I need to see it in action. I can't wait to see the flow of the game, now that it was mentioned that its not a fighting game in a wrestling game setting.

I haven't gotten a WWE game since SvR 08. I'm keeping my eye on this game for sure.

In some capacity, yes. They are no longer the sole developers of the series, however, and 2K is said have an increased influence over last year.

I wonder if the commentary will be more Universe mode friendly and more responsive

I just keep thinking we're going to get some kind of "John Cena Legacy" mode. They did something similar with Lebron James in NBA 2K, and after John Cena said he added some touches of his own to this game, that's what comes to mind. I don't mind if they add something like that as long as there is some kind of story or career mode included as well. It's been long enough since we've gotten a true story mode that things could be fresh in that area once again.

John Cena saying he added his touch to the game just makes me think there's going to be some John Cena-type Soundtrack options.

I sure hope not. Really holding out hope it has to go with Monday Night Wars. Unless thy have both like Beat The Streak and 30 Years of WM. Then I don't care.

I can't wait till they are. Wrestle Kingdom "Next-Gen" needs to happen soon. Or better yet, Yukes and *Insert publisher* make a TNA game. *Dreams*

But that's cool with the scanning and such, but show me improved gameplay.

Features

Collaborative Development: WWE 2K15 will see Visual Concepts join forces with long-standing developer Yuke’s to bring the WWE video game experience to next-generation formats. Praised for its efforts on 2K’s prominent NBA 2K series, Visual Concepts will bring its established pedigree to WWE 2K15 through design processes, gameplay innovations, commitment to sports simulation authenticity and more.

Gameplay Enhancements: WWE 2K15 will significantly improve the core gameplay experience through key additions and improvements designed to elevate the franchise now and into the future. From brand new motion capture technology to animation advancements to a host of to-be-announced features, WWE 2K15 will deliver a premium sports simulation in line with WWE’s television and live event offerings.

Next-Gen Superstars: WWE 2K15 will take advantage of the high profile capture technology seen in the NBA 2K series, with focus on the head, body and signature facial features, to create an unprecedented level of model authenticity (PS4, Xbox One only). Additional presentation improvements, including lighting changes, will dramatically impact the appearance of featured WWE Superstars and Divas, resulting in a highly life-like and natural look.

Feel the Noise: WWE 2K15 will further replicate the WWE television experience through extensive improvements to audio depth and quality. In-game commentary will see more than five times the amount of recorded lines in comparison with previous franchise iterations. In addition, all in-ring sound effects will be overhauled to further enhance the action.

New Game Modes: Stay tuned as we near launch to learn more about new game modes and surprises making their debut in WWE 2K15!

New game modes, and surprises? So there's more than just Sting? Looks like in just 1 year, 2K has turned what THQ was making a stale repetitive game, into a game that can feel like a new game.

Well this is what happens when you remove THQ and the incompetent idiots like Ledesma are removed from this series. Already it seems like 2K is putting in three times the effort that THQ had been putting in throughout the entire 360/PS3 generation..
