WWE 2K15 News Post

GameInformer published an article today with a few details on the PS4/XB1 debut of the WWE 2K series. There are several interesting tidbits in the article, here are some highlights:
  • Visual Concepts is taking a much bigger role this year in the game's development. One area they are particularly involved in is the face scanning process, which is the same as NBA 2K.
  • Face scan results are all said to be quite impressive.
  • Visual concepts is working towards more realistic match pacing and flow, the goal is to mimic WWE TV broadcasts as much as possible.
  • There are 5x more animations than in 2K14.
  • WWE 2K15 features five times more audio commentary lines versus last years game.
WWE 2K15 is set to launch on October 28, we are expecting more info on the game to start arriving soon!

I hear that Universe Mode has all but been confirmed because it's mentioned in the product details of the strategy guide on Gamestop's website:

"In-depth look at creating your own WWE Universe, complete with tournaments, rivalries, and more.
Tips and tricks for getting the most out of your own custom Superstar or Diva.
Collect all Achievements and Trophies.
This WWE 2K15 strategy guide receives our signature series treatment, featuring a premium cover, making this a must have for any WWE fan!"

I really hope that's the case. I traded in my Xbox and all of its games so I could get a PS4 (something I'm regretting. I wish I kept the Xbox because I miss playing WWE and NCAA.)

Anyway, I'm so psyched for this game. I don't currently have a console wrestling game, so I know that I am going to play this game a lot. I know the graphics will be awesome because it's next-gen. I know 2K is actually going to put its stamp on the game this year, rather than just releasing THQ's product for the most part last year. I really just want to about Universe Mode. I'll buy the game regardless, but Universe Mode will make or break my experience with the game. I hope they either made the rivalry maker much better (it was so redundant and glitchy in 2K14; every week, the participants would face in Extreme Rules/submission matches, for every rivalry. I'd love it if the game-makers watched WWE programming and saw how WWE builds rivalries, and even somewhat incorporated that into the game.

Or at least how WWE is supposed to build them ha. No, seriously I agree with you about the Universe mode. As much as I'd like to have a 2k style career mode in the game, if there is a great way to build my own universe and it has a large number of angles and feud possibilities, I'll be thrilled. The idea that they want this to be a true wrestling game and not a fighting game featuring wrestlers might just be marketing speak, but I hope it shows in the game.

Not for sure how credible this is but, http://segmentnext.com/2014/07/18/ww...ock-confirmed/

Basically roster wise, HHH confirms

himself
Stone Cold Steve Austin
The Rock
Undertaker
All Legends in WWE universe

RVD confirms himself.

Summerslam is the 17th right? So that's par for the course.

They have always done the roster reveal the day before Summerslam at least since Smackdown vs Raw 2011

I wonder if they will stream it live on WWE Network.

Also seeing DX together in that makes me start wondering if it is possible that we will see the Monday Night Wars theme for the game.

I would assume we will know some details about the theme that night or can make a good assumption based on the roster.

wasn't Monday Night Wars already the theme in WWE '13? like I know they mostly did Attitude Era in that game but I doubt they would put a whole WCW roster in the game.

A Monday Night Wars and Attitude Era are two completely different things. The Attitude Era is a WWE Era, the Monday Night Wars is WWE vs WCW.

Other than having the ratings and mentioning they won the war, there was nothing to do with the Wars in WWE 13.

Exactly would love to chose a side a recreate or change history in the ratings war. However I doubt it's possible to create dynamic ratings based on your booking. But I would take playing major events in both companies.

Well they're not completely different. The Attitude Era is the WWE side of the MNW.

The Attitude Era is not the Monday Night Wars though. The Attitude Era is a WWE Era.

An Attitude Era and Monday Night Wars Game Mode WOULD be two completely different modes.

Same here. For all of its maddening flaws, Universe mode sells the game for me. Rivalry mode was a great addition last year, but the implementation left a lot to be desired. Like you said, too many head-to-head matches between the rivals, and for some reason half of them were submission matches and falls count anywhere matches. If you did a 12-week rivalry between Undertaker and the Rock, it often meant that they would just fight each other 12 times (or I guess 15 times with PPV matches).

Instead, I'd like to see a rivalry sequence like this for example:

1. Heel calls Face out after a random match (rivalries sometimes started this way in 2K14)
2. Face vs. random opponent; Heel does a run-in and causes a DQ
3. Heel and Face have a match, but Heel weasels out of it, sending a lackey to fight instead
4. Tag team match where Face partners with another face and Heel partners with another Heel
5. Face vs. Heel at PPV

The Attitude Era happened during the Monday Night Wars. It runs almost the same exact length of time as the Monday Night Wars. If you had a Monday Night Wars mode you would have A LOT of the same matches on the WWE side as you had in the Attitude Era mode.

You wouldn't have to have a lot of the matches. Yes, some would be necessary but you're still talking about what would be roughly half of the game mode. There were matches left out on the WWE side (due to contracts), as well as matches that could've been deemed unnecessary.

LOL that's the point I've been trying to make and you said they are completely different.

The Attitude Era and the Monday Night Wars would be TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAME MODES with TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PURPOSES.

If you don't understand, move along.

He doesn't get it.

Moving on.

IGN (as terrible as always) apparently looked to fuel the fire. They're listing Jeff Hardy as a rumored character for 2k15. They must not know he's under contract with another company.

Add me to the list of people who think the Attitude Era was the WWE side of the Monday Night War.

Nobody said it wasn't.
