WWE 2K15 News Post

GameInformer published an article today with a few details on the PS4/XB1 debut of the WWE 2K series. There are several interesting tidbits in the article, here are some highlights:
  • Visual Concepts is taking a much bigger role this year in the game's development. One area they are particularly involved in is the face scanning process, which is the same as NBA 2K.
  • Face scan results are all said to be quite impressive.
  • Visual concepts is working towards more realistic match pacing and flow, the goal is to mimic WWE TV broadcasts as much as possible.
  • There are 5x more animations than in 2K14.
  • WWE 2K15 features five times more audio commentary lines versus last years game.
WWE 2K15 is set to launch on October 28, we are expecting more info on the game to start arriving soon!

Something of interest that was confirmed, or debunked I guess:

Quote:
Former WWE and WCW wrestler, Goldberg, has confirmed that we will not be in WWE 2K15.

A fan asked Goldberg on twitter if we will be a part of the WWE 2K15 roster. Goldberg blatantly said: “If I’m not mistaken, I’m not even in the game”. This is a strong indication he will not be in the game, so people will have to create him in the game instead.

Goldberg was a part of last year’s WWE 2K14 game however. He was playable and gamers could even relive his last ever WWE match against Brock Lesnar 10 years ago at WrestleMania XX. WWE also released a special Goldberg DVD last year for WCW fans to reminiscence.

With Goldberg not in WWE 2K15, this could mean the rumored “WCW-mode” will not be in the game too. Goldberg was a huge part of WCW and it wouldn’t make sense to not have him. Goldberg joins Jim Ross as one other big name that will not be a part of WWE 2K15.

This does not mean the game will not be featuring any legends. We do know that Hulk Hogan will be in the game so older wrestlers do have their place. It’s possible Goldberg had to be dropped in order to get Sting in the game. Sting has not been confirmed yet, but Jim Ross thinks he’s in the game.

It could also be a ploy.

I loled at this though:

Yeah, I was going to find the tweet but got lazy about it.

Some writing on certain sites is terrible.

There's a certain few on the examiner that I cannot stand.

Nice. Hogan was my favorite so I'll enjoy it.

Maybe we follow Hogan from WWF days to WCW days before and during NWO and then back to WWE.

So this is kind of interesting.

Why is Heyman doing mo cap? Making better, superstar/manager entrances orrrrrr?

Clearly that Heyman mo cap is for his entrance with Cesaro where he reminds us that his client Brooooock Lesnar conquered the Undertaker's undefeated streak at Wrestlemania.

Reed is comin' atcha!!

I wasn't sure where to put this but so with the "later" cut off date in terms of the roster. So Wrestlemania in the past has been the day when the roster would essentially be finalized. We have had three PPVs since Mania, Extreme Rules(May 4th, 2014), Payback(June 1st), and MITB which was June 29th. We have Battleground next Sunday on the 20th.

Anyone have a clue about what the cut off date is since it is later this year? I would think MITB since WWE is touting that as a major PPV but I only say that because that would at least have the Shield broken up.
From what I understand, they extended it one month.

If that's the case, that sucks because it means the Shield will still be together.

Probably is June or something. Cause in NBA and NHL, roster cutoff dates for the original release are around August. Commentary from the game is as recent as around August too(so NBA2K15 for example will have commentators talking about Lebron going back to Cleveland). I know WWE game is diff, but hopefully since it's released around similar time as NBA, the cutoff date is similar too.

Just thinking out loud, I've got nothing to back this up with -

I fully expect Cody Rhodes to appear as himself and not as Stardust. I'm preparing myself for that disappointment now, lol.

I'd love for 2K to bring in legitimate Alternates.

I fully expect him to be part of the free DLC they usually release.

It should be the "Cena wins lol" game mode and can be exactly like the streak mode from this year's game. You'll be raging every time Cena kicks out at 2 after your finisher in "Defeat the Super Cena", or better yet he completely vanishes and reappears with 3 finishers exclaiming that 'you can't see him'.

This has probably been answered. But it takes these guys on websites an hour to create pretty detailed CAWs. Why is there an issue adding a guy last minute for THQ in the past and 2K now. I'm not bashing the developers just don't know why it seems like there is a cut off well before release.

Note: I understand developers add more than just the wrestler and they add commentary with the name plus entrances, ect.

We don't know that 2K can do yet. Last year's game was a THQ/Yukes game with 2K's name on it.

2K has extended the cutoff date that THQ set for Wrestlemania. They could have potentially extended it to a month or two before the game is released.

There was a rumor that 2K was going to have something similar to weekly updates.

The biggest difference is that the developers have to build each part of the superstar separately like the boots, shorts and shirts. We don't have to do that.

I would assume he won't be in the game unless the WWE reaches some type of agreement with him.

Since we haven't seen CM Punk since the Royal Rumble, and his WWE contract has officially expired. Will we have to rely on CM Punk CAWs to play as Punk or will he still be in the game?

I'm guessing no since if the roster cut off date is later, and he hasn't been seen since January, I guess not but just curious. Maybe his character can be moved to being a locked character that you earn through career mode or something.
I'd bet on Punk not being in the game; but despite all the reports we really have no idea what the feelings are between him and WWE.

If WWE wants him in and Punk wants the royalty checks, who knows?

I'd say the only way he gets in is if they come to a deal. Despite what the guy did and for the brief time I got to actually see him (few months) I liked him so if he's in great, if not oh well.

Reed is comin' atcha!!
