There's some hope here and flashes of promise, I'm going to break this article down and actually see what's put into play and what's not when the game drops in August..

Everything sounds good for the most part. Great questions by the interviewer. A few disappointments that stood out were no CUSTOM CAM this year, didn't mention any NEW CATCHING ANIMATIONS, & it sounds like they didn't expand on DB/WR INTERACTIONS. I'm also disappointed that he didn't mention anything about running animations. Madden desperately needs SIGNATURE RUNNING ANIMATIONS / BALL CARRYING STYLES so that all players don't feel the same. Looking forward to seeing game in action.

RD: Due to the impact of the overhauled coverage AI, you will see defenders in much better position to make plays on balls. This includes jostling for position and aggressively moving towards the catch point. We definitely have some major plans around WR/DB interaction coming in the near future in addition to the great work that has been done this year.

What does this mean? Is wr/db interaction in the game or not?
It means WR/DBs will probably play the ball smarter but that overhaul we want in the interactions are not in this version.

Would have enjoyed a question on whether the precision modifier is making a return in 15. And if so, will it be toned down. Dynamic weather would be a nice addition. Maybe a question about the progression system since the XP system in 25 was kind of a nightmare.

I hear you. Unfortunately from the looks of the trailers, it doesn't look like they've improved smh.

They exist in 25, but only when a user controlled player is the offender

The interviewer should've asked if camera men & people in the crowd will still wear shorts & t-shirts during snow games? I hope they paid attention to detail this time around because things like that really kill the immersion.

Hopefully we can control all 32 teams in one mode instead of having to have 32 different CCM's. And hopefully we could edit the uniforms of the computer controlled teams.

And I know myself and DJ have asked for a reverse defensive camera for years and sounds like it might have finally made it's way to Madden.
I'm definitely excited about the Player-Lock camera for defense finally being in Madden.

I am anxiously hoping that this means pass interference fellas. I literally love all the stuff this guy says...but I will be mad as junk if we keep doing this penalty and slider reverse dance.

Last fall, he said in a interview they should be in a few years, so, we wait and see on that end.

Look at the VSN interview thread, it mentions this, the podcast itself goes into greater detail of what they improved.

Any news on locomotion and if all 22 players are now applying the same locomotion system as the ball carrier?

The biggest thing for me is that most of the features will be on current gen and not just next gen.

Listen to his interview, some of the things he says are music to the ears of simulation community players. His exact words were along the line of, "Our goal is 100% authenticity and simulation". That nips in the bud any controversy around whether or not Madden is marketed as a simulation game. The lead gameplay designer says it is. One thing he also says that is nice to hear is that the controversial review by IGN saying that madden 25 was too realistic for its own good was the best compliment they could have ever gotten. He also states that he's hard to please and that even when they release the game, he is never generally happy with it. I respect this type of mentality greatly and it was certainly not there in years past.

Yeah... Rex Dickson has the attitude I want for the people working on this game.
I just hope the engineers writing the code are the same way.
Completely agree with this. I've never questioned his plan. My biggest worry is whether or not they will be able to keep the same dev team with a common vision in place long enough to complete their vision. I like the direction they're going, let's just keep them in place.

Been down this road too many times, all sounds good but when the unedited footage comes out.....all hell breaks loose

Can't remember what year it was, but they were all touting how they had killed the roll n chuck...... And like one of the first gameplay vids we had was freaking Christian ponder throwing a 40 yard bomb off his back foot, 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage

it's one thing to say all these wonderful things about your game that you're supposed to be hyping currently, but from every video shown of a developer and coder has said the exact same thing.

"we really wanted to improve ____ this year, last year wasnt up to par but this year its different we promise!"

SIKE

question though, why was there absolutely no questions, or answers about franchise mode at all? do they believe that their connected franchise mode is perfect and they should just focus on other areas of madden currently?

.
Yeah I was really hoping we would at least see highlights from other games when in franchise mode. I really wanted a weekly wrap up after each weeks game like 2k5 had. Around the league highlights, stats, injury reports , up coming games and so on. Still don't understand why they leave this out when games like the show and nba2k are doing it. It's always next year, next year. Well some one else was doing it 10 years ago in a football game.
