I think EA, in all their departments (maybe except Fifa), that sometimes, bad fights/games/matches whatever, happen. Gray Maynard vs Guida happens. Lawal vs Rampage happens. Not every fight is a barnburner. That kind of variation in games like MLB The Show make the experience for me.

Hopefully we get varied results in the retail version.

Yeah it is so annoying. Anthony Pettis does a kick where he bounces off the cage. Now, everyone can do it in the game, although it is a rare occurrence in real life. EA does great with big moments, like David Tyree's catch in the superbowl, but that only happened once as well. Now everyone does it. Classic EA MO.

I will still get the game, but I hope since the sequel will release in two years the devs will listen to our feedback, and look at our wishlist thread. Tons of material there for them to dive into. They seem to be proactive in supporting the game in between releases. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Even if Buffer didn't have time to do the voice work, EA could've easily and probably more cost effectively just cut audio from any UFC event and used it in the game and it STILL would've sounded better than it does in EA UFC. But that's just one part of my disappointment, and sadly there are many. I'm trying hard not to hate this game because just like Madden, it's the only UFC game we've got. Exclusive licenses are the true culprit with games not living up to hype. But, as I said, I will still buy it and I will still play it. I can only hope that my mind changes once I'm able to dive into career mode.
Buffer sounds fine in my opinion. He is calling a non title/non-main event in the demo. He's always subdued when he's introducing those.

I'm very concerned. I really had high optimism for this game with how much positive hype it had, and EA does have a history of being able to talk a good game without backing it up.

We can keep making the argument of it is only the demo, but there is a reason developer put a demo out, and it isn't to show you the flaws that will be corrected for the retail version of a title.
My only counter to this is EA MMA's demo was horrible but the retail version was much better.

My time with the demo has been limited. I'm waiting til the retail to pass full judgement on the game. I think one of the reasons for some negative views are the expectations set by the user. People expect games to play a certain way and if it doesn't fit their mindset, they become disapointed. This game is being built for the masses and many of those people don't want to grind it out. They want fast paced action and big hits. Until the game is released, many of us won't know if certain settings will adjust the cpu agressiveness. My hope is that it will, but I don't expect it to.

I enjoy the UFC and am excited to get my hands on the game but I have tempered my expectations knowing others have a different set than many of us.

Playing sports video games since the original Madden I have learned to deal with nuances and frustrations they bring. CPU agressiveness will only get in the way of having fun with the game if you let it.

How do you get into the crucifix position? Been trying with two controllers with zero luck

Great post.

This is the point that I am starting to come around to as well. If not, then I would only play text sims.

Is anyone else struggling with this game? I've played the demo for a total of about 4 hours and the controls are too much for me. I love the game but the controls may sway me from buying it (this was my most anticipated game too).

Even with Jones being rated a little higher it still seems way easier to win with him, like I'm fighting a nobody

Took me awhile, but after watching the tutorial videos I'm destroying the CPU in the first couple minutes

Can't say I'm a big UFC fan, but after spending about an hour playing, I am very interested in this. My brother and I played about eight matches worth and had a great time with it. Some of the animations were a little wonky and the speed at which those animations play out are a bit to fast, but overall it is very enjoyable.

I'm starting to gather that you have to plan every strike before throwing it. I haven't lost to Gus since I changed my mindset as far as how Jones fights. I've even KO'd him within 30 seconds. I think it will grow on me by the time the 17th arrives. I have played nearly 100 fights trying to master the controls and I'm starting to feel a bit better. Btw, I hope that is the case with Buffer sounding off to me. I'm just saying, if I were the dev, I would've made sure that the demo displayed my game in all it's glory. I would've included the best intros, the best Bruce Buffer intros, the best commentary, and made the fight a title fight. I hope they limited the demo so that our expectations went down considerably, and then when we get the retail we will all be happy with the things that were left out of the demo...if that makes any sense...

He sounds fine but his intro's are probably exactly the same for title fights just like they were in the other UFC games. I hope it's not the case.

Calling it Tekken etc. is a bit much. I do agree that the demo does not live up to the hype, but it isn't entirely flawed.

Right now, the demo's flaw is on the difficulty setting. It's the equivalent of playing NBA 2k on its easiest difficulty and being able to drain 3s all day.

A 3 round fight from the demo. Forgive the two capoeira kicks that I threw with Jones, definitely not intentional. I have no idea why they added that to his moveset.

The ps4 version is somewhat better for some reason. The graphics are a little cleaner but not that big of a difference. The weirdest thing is out of 25 plus fights on the X1 last night, I wasnt able to stop one takedown. On the Ps4 I was able to stop 3 in the first round of my first fight.

Another strange thing is the ps4 version has Mario Yamasaki as the ref.
