I'm starting to gather that you have to plan every strike before throwing it. I haven't lost to Gus since I changed my mindset as far as how Jones fights. I've even KO'd him within 30 seconds. I think it will grow on me by the time the 17th arrives. I have played nearly 100 fights trying to master the controls and I'm starting to feel a bit better. Btw, I hope that is the case with Buffer sounding off to me. I'm just saying, if I were the dev, I would've made sure that the demo displayed my game in all it's glory. I would've included the best intros, the best Bruce Buffer intros, the best commentary, and made the fight a title fight. I hope they limited the demo so that our expectations went down considerably, and then when we get the retail we will all be happy with the things that were left out of the demo...if that makes any sense...

He sounds fine but his intro's are probably exactly the same for title fights just like they were in the other UFC games. I hope it's not the case.

People expect games to play a certain way and if it doesn't fit their mindset, they become disapointed. This game is being built for the masses and many of those people don't want to grind it out. They want fast paced action and big hits. Until the game is released, many of us won't know if certain settings will adjust the cpu agressiveness. My hope is that it will, but I don't expect it to.

I enjoy the UFC and am excited to get my hands on the game but I have tempered my expectations knowing others have a different set than many of us.

Playing sports video games since the original Madden I have learned to deal with nuances and frustrations they bring. CPU agressiveness will only get in the way of having fun with the game if you let it.
However, some of the expectations were set from the way developers talked about the game and ways they were telling you it would work. People were expecting a very realistic style gameplay. People were expecting that each fight would be different and in fights where you had the same opponents if you attack the CPU differently they will adjust their gameplan.....it doesn't. We were told it was only for next gen because ONLY NEXT GEN could pull off the things they are doing in this game.....other than graphics the game plays in most areas, WEAKER than last-gen/current-gen.

I was expecting the game to be rough but not be almost laughable. When I see things like spinning cartwheel kicks fighters doing things they have never or would never do in a fight it makes me so upset.

Developers and game companies need to stop cattering to the casual fan. What you do is alienate your actual audience. We should not sit here and have to turn a SERIOUS FIGHTING SPORT LIKE MMA into a Tekken/Street Fighter/Def Jam NY/WWE game where the object is to spam the special move until you win. Let them buy the game and sink or swim - if they can't spam their way to victory and do not ever buy the game, OH WELL!

EA is becoming a company I can't support when it comes to sport games. I would go out and buy every NCAA AND MADDEN every year at midnight, now I MAY go out and rent it off gamefly or redbox for a few days until I see that they are still making arcade games. I want pure simulation style games - they need to stop going out and showing huge lists of things they are doing and how the game and AI works without it actually being there. It is a slap in the face to the fan of the sport. Without the REAL UFC/MMA fans you would not be MAKING THIS GAME - but when you release a demo and instantly turn a game that was a must buy for majority and they see it is a casual game the fans realize that $60 would be better spent somewhere else than a game that will be on the shelf in less than a month.

Maybe our feelings and negative remarks are too hasty, but the "it's an early release, it's just a demo" is said way too often when it comes to an EA Sports game. Too many times the final product is almost identical to what we got in the demo.

Sure we may have had higher than achievable expectations, sure we may have put this game up there to extremes that could not be met, but if it comes out and is a game that still delivers in the SPORT OF MMA and not a Tekken/Street Fighter style then maybe fans will cut them some slack and want to continue to support this franchise, but sadly with this demo it is hard to want to do that.

Calling it Tekken etc. is a bit much. I do agree that the demo does not live up to the hype, but it isn't entirely flawed.

Right now, the demo's flaw is on the difficulty setting. It's the equivalent of playing NBA 2k on its easiest difficulty and being able to drain 3s all day.

A 3 round fight from the demo. Forgive the two capoeira kicks that I threw with Jones, definitely not intentional. I have no idea why they added that to his moveset.

Re: EA Sports UFC Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (Xbox One, PS4)

The ps4 version is somewhat better for some reason. The graphics are a little cleaner but not that big of a difference. The weirdest thing is out of 25 plus fights on the X1 last night, I wasnt able to stop one takedown. On the Ps4 I was able to stop 3 in the first round of my first fight.

Another strange thing is the ps4 version has Mario Yamasaki as the ref.

I see your point. However, the developers themselves billed this out of the gate as a REALISTIC MMA GAME NOT AN ARCADE SLUGFEST."

That's an exact quote.

Yeah the Tekken comments are ridiculous. The kicks are bad but they arent that bad. This is generally why I avoid impressions threads as a whole. I realized a few years back that i know the games that I want and reading impressions threads either 1) make me aware of "flaws" that I wasnt seeing in the first place or 2) annoy me when i read posts exaggerating how bad or good a game is.

The only reason I posted in this one was because 90% of the people who regularly visit this forum are great posters and will have honest and good takes on the game. Its just that damn 10%. Unless I get the game early, I promise I wont be posting in the retail impressions thread.
