EA Sports UFC News Post


The EA Sports UFC demo is available now for Xbox One (queue it up here), it weighs in at 2.7GB. If you are up for it, you can also download from your PS4 by creating a European account, then downloading from this link.

UPDATE: The demo is now available for PS4 users in North America. Search for EA Sports UFC in the PlayStation Store or click here to queue it up.

The demo includes light heavyweight champ Jon “Bones” Jones vs. Alex “The Mauler” Gustafsson in a three round fight at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Nevada. The difficulty is set to normal with a walkthrough tutorial included.

I'm still not convinced that non-ground game stamina isn't going to be quirky. How can low stamina slow a guy's punches down but he still has the ability to shoot so quickly into a takedown?

There should be an absolute fatigue scenario where the fighter's ability to do anything is faulted when he is gassed.

I do enjoy the game and respect GamePlayDev for speaking on various questions. I am concerned though because the same aggressive tendencies and stamina issues that flawed FNC are manifested here in EA UFC.

They had his correct tights before, but then they took Nike out of the game, and gave him just generic tights, the same thing happened with Jon Jones, and i'd assume JDS is gonna have generic shorts on as well.

I really hope, they update attire, but i doubt it.

He shared a pretty extensive summary of a match he ran. In that I felt the punch output was high. And when I share my concern, it is primarily for online. I enjoy online head to head and hope it's balanced in that you can throw down outrageous amounts of attacks and see little stamina consequence.

If people online want throw an outrageous number of strikes, it'll be easy to win.

Whenever the computer is doing that in the demo, if you block and parry correctly, easy win. It's super easy to submit the computer whenever they're doing that, and if you counter it with a strike, it has a strong affect also.

So if people online want to spam strikes, i'll gladly take my W.

Would've been nice to have a different takedown animation when gassed, which should also be easier to defend.

In fact, they should add more takedown anims in general. To be honest I expected much more variety with this being a next-gen game, and it that regard I do feel underwhelmed, in the demo at least. GameplayDevUFC, are there more anims in the retail version, will there be variety among the different fighters, or do they all perform the same type of shoot/clinch takedowns? (suplex for everyone)?

I also feel like the trips from the clinch are too slow. It should have more speed and snap to it, more impact in the fall rather than what currently feels like a soft landing.

Ah yeah, the whole Nike ordeal.. I wish they could've at least kept the yellow/black color scheme though. Even an all yellow one like he has worn on occasion would look better than the generic black that they gave him.

I still think permanent stamina is not punished enough. and Temp Stamina replenishes too quickly. I understand being gassed puts that at risk to being hurt more. But I think there isn't enough of a penalty for not conserving your gas tank. And adjustments to those 2 areas would improve it greatly.

If you get it on Friday pick up an extra copy and overnight it to me.

It's times like these when I wish EA still had the Season Pass.

the number of flush power shots a person can walk through on this game is crazy. I'd like to see the heavy weights to judge further.

And in the demo, the penalty for loss of stamina is not as severe as I feel it should be. I can shoot with the same speed and spam jabs and hooks without getting arm weary...

It's tempting, but I wouldn't pay over 85-90.

I wish there was some spots to pick it up early around here, but BR's locked up tight..... It's going to be a long weekend.

In the UK it's £55 for the digital or £45 for the boxed. Madness.

Still undecided, going to wait to see what the impressions are first, but if I do it's boxed.

OK, our gameplay producer just got back from vacation today so I was able to talk to him about all things stamina.

One interesting tidbit that I wasn't aware of was that permanent stamina and permanent damage (yes there is such a thing) are tuned for a real time 5 minute round, not an accelerated clock. The reason is because we currently don't have a modifier on the tuning for real time vs. accelerated clock. So it had to be tuned for the worst case scenario, which is a full 5 minute round.

I cannot comment on anything about the future of the project, so don't ask me if this can be patched or tuned because I won't be able to answer.

I just thought this information would be of interest to you.

GamePlayDev,

Can you change weight classes in the Career mode like in UFC 3? That was actually pretty fun to do.
