MLB 14 The Show News Post

The OSFM Hybrid V2 is now released and in the Vault - I have included the description of the roster from the V1 thread below with some updates.

Version 2.1a has been placed in the Vault, called OSFM Hybrid 2014 v.2.1a

It is a slight ratings tweak with +5 added to discipline thanks to Waittilnextyear who came across and found this - it basically get most offensive categories as close to real life as you could want

What is the OSFM Hybrid you ask?

It is the OSFM Full Minors with a full ratings re-rate. It gives a uniform blanket rating system that brings everything together and makes very realistic game play.

What does this include?

The roster is based off the OSFM, which if you don't know is a collection of great contributors, run by Knight165 who create minor league players and major league players who were not included in this game. It is also based off of Knight's OSFM Player Ratings Charts

We have re-rated all stats for both minor leaguers whom we had info for as well as all the SCEA original players who came in the game.

The stats we use are ZiPs preseason ratings created by Dan Szymborski, they are gathered into a spreadsheet and formulated to match ratings values in the game.

All hitting and defense ratings have been changed as well as pitcher ratings including pitch type, control and velocity updates using Seanjeezy's pitch edits

Potentials were also reviewed and altered where necessary.

The roster has accurate 40 man rosters to today's date, as well as accurate as possible hitting lineups and pitching lineups for all levels. Players who are currently on 60 day disabled lists or suspended are not included in their respective teams 40 man roster and can be found on the A ball roster.

Also we have added many AAA and AA players who were not included in the OSFM - some prospects may have been removed or been put in the FA Pool to make room for players who should be in the roster - you really don't want very young top prospects playing in AAA or even AA.

Stance, Motion and Equipment updates were done where we knew changes needed to be made or could be made.

PLEASE DO NOT LOOK AT THE OVERALLS FOR PLAYERS AS A WAY TO GUAGE THEIR VALUE Players overalls are weighted by a variety of things based on the position they play. With this re-rate most players did go down in overalls, and really the league balances out to where it should be. Player ratings are what they are. We made some adjustments to physical attributes but the pure stat based attributes are the same base across the board.

This is what the Overalls should represent

90+ - All Star and Superstar Caliber

80+ - high end regulars and All Starts

70+ - everyday players and bench players

60+ - Bench players and career minor league players

50+ - low level prospects and Organization fillers

NEW players updates were included in this roster with the exception of pitchers at this time - aprx 200 updates were applied in this release

A roster like this can't happen without the support of many great individuals whom deserve a ton of credit - I hope I remember everyone and spell their names correct

ttbucsfan001 created our ratings spreadsheet
teeds - my partner in crime, created a ton of players, handled the transactions and organizing of players we needed to create and replace
cultbuscus - spent countless hours creating and helping input ratings
sky63 - assisted for several days importing the OSFM players
DarionC14 - did 90% of the hitter re-rate
mmorg - did most of the OSFM re-rate
totte - helped with testing the roster
davis25 - helped create players
shaneomac - helped with rating and player creations
authentic - ran the pitch edits
Iliveforthis - also on pitch edits
Waittilnextyear - assisted in running a ton of tests and finding/compiling needed corrections
Seanjeezy - his pitch edits make those possible

I ask that if you have constructive criticism that is fine but do not use this thread to complain. There is well over 100 hours poured into this project and several broken relationships and marriages.......lol

The roster is a little late this year, but I am very proud to put my name behind it. I hope everyone enjoys this.

Thank you to all the helpers and the community for helping us along the way with suggestions, transaction updates and just entertaining posts.

Note it is recommended that you play this roster with 30 Team Control - more info to be included shortly

The roster can be found in the Vault under the following name:

OSFM HYBRID 2014 V2.............psn Crapinmyshoe

How to use 30 team control is below

You set you profile up as you want - I tend to leave the banking and crap at auto but any player stuff is set to manual

Setting 2 should be set up as follows

Manual Control - 40 man roster, lineups, trades, waivers, rosters

Auto Control - Banking, Training, Management, Transportation

You can go into Gameplay setting and change injuries on both profiles to manual if you want to do the injuries yourself, off or CPU

I tend to do manual to start the year and disable any players out for the season

If you want to let the CPU make trades - when you start your franchise put CPU trading on but also turn off instant trades - check the transactions in your franchise every day - skim through and cancel any stupid trades the CPU wants to make.

Remember you can change on of the player 2 or your own settings anytime during your franchise

The odd player gets overrated just because something like speed is hard to truly rate. I won't be involved in the next update but hopefully teeds will take a look at these guys. In the case of Fuld - he has the legit speed just doesn't play regularly normally.

Thanks!
Before you start your season go into the roster and add the players to the 40 man roster. They should make their respective clubs

Was wondering if there will be a draft update? I just read that Willard is done for a while, but I figured I waited this long to start a franchise, might as well wait a Tad bit more IF there would be a draft update. With transactions and small kinks update and if not, if anyone knows where I can find it. Just curious. Thanks.

I use auto baserunning and I am seeing decent steal numbers. Now if you are controlling the baserunning and stealing all the time, then of course you will have high steals.

For what it's worth, in sims stolen bases are not too high at all and are actually a touch low by 5-10%. I don't think speed is an issue after playing ~10 games with this set.

Firstly that actually sounds like two requests, lol.

Secondly, this is not a request a CAP thread. There are a few threads dedicated to this kind of thing and this thread is not one of them. Check those other threads out and maybe one of those skilled guys can help you.

99.999% sure this doesn't happen, so I'd just start your chise if I were you. Adding the drafted players would pose several issues such as how to rate them appropriately with ZiPS when none of them have pro stats. Also, we'd have to delete players from each org to fit them in and agree on which ones. There's no plan to do this.

If you want to include the drafted players in your own personal roster set, it would probably be best to download the CAPs that people have been making (look around for a 2014 MLB Draft thread in the roster subforum to see who's been created and uploaded) and import them specially into your roster.

And just to be clear, I believe the 2014 MLB draft thread for rosters is in the current gen forum, not in this one.

But I would need to control all 30 to do that or do that with all 30 teams correct?

teeds used to do this - not sure if he has it planned this year or not - what I do is if the player signs byt he time I am done my first season of the franchise I try to create the draft picks for my team over the fake players drafted in the game - ratings are a pure guess at most with these guys

You do it with the actual roster - save it and then use the roster you did adjustments to for your roster in game - to give an example - my personal roster I import a bunch of CAPs I did that did not make the actual Hybrid release, save that roster and then use it for my franchise

Guys, I've started to do accessories and some motion/stance updates. I'm thinking I'll stick to MLB players since MILB should be kind of close to what they wear or their stance/motion. I don't know if these guys were planning this version or have started but it shouldn't take me too long.

Makes sense... I was just hoping to not have to do it since I'm pretty bad at editing which is why I appreciate these rosters that much more... I just wanted the more noticeable prospects from the draft.. Not all...

I've been working on the next version of this roster but can't give any definitive release date. As of now I'm the only one working on this thing as Willard takes care of other, more important things at the moment and a few of the guys that helped earlier are enjoying the actual playing of the game.

My editing has been slow but not fruitless. I've been coming home every day after work and putting 3-4 hours of editing into the game. And I'm not exactly a ball of energy either. I've edited since the day of the ps3 release.

I'm currently focused on the NL west. The Giants in particular were riddled with errors (ht/wt, age, faces, positions, equipment, etc.) and required a good amount of time. The Padres and Rockies I think are set after I edited inaccuracies, created a few players and shuffled guys around to their correct level. Still have to go through the Diamondbacks but I did create David Peralta, he's in the vault.

I edit faces of players as I go along. Joey Gallo and Ryan Rua of the Rangers have been redone. There are a bunch of other guys too that I've spent time on. Minor leaguers are being rerated as I see fit.

If any OCD inflicted roster editor wants to help feel free to PM me.

Think you could upload Gallo and Rua to the vault?

Has anyone who plays with classic pitching and timed hitting found sliders that workwell with this roster, so far I'm not seeing nearly enough offense using armor and shield/Marino's set.

Although I am playing as the mets

Have you tried the sliders that willard suggested?

I've been using the roster with timing hitting, and have bumped contact and power to 6, for both the user and cpu. Seems to be working.

The nerve of actually playing the game, lol, We should know it's there to be edited.

...if there's anything I can do to help or if you want to delegate anything mundane, just let me know.

Has anybody using these rosters encountered any issues with pitchers stamina? I am playing my franchise as the Astros so my pitchers are sub par but I am frequently encountering my guys being out of energy around 75 pitches. My bullpen is pretty taxed haha .. So just wondering if my staff just has really low stamina or is this across the league?

Yep very much so....AI pitcher fatigues as well...so I am guessing the stamina they gave the pitchers have a bunch to do with it. I have tried to bump that starter slider up a few

Really Appreciate the overtime on this so much. I won't ask for an eta, but will ask for updates whenever you can as I will be checking for the progress of this update. Thanks for all the hard work...

Another thing is that the "he's getting tired" message doesn't even mean you need to sub out. I've pitched on fumes more than once and they lose a bit of movement after awhile, but you can still get guys out. Haven't seen any injuries related to keeping pitchers going on fumes either. I usually get the getting tired or out of energy messages between 70 and 95 pitches, but it really depends on the stamina and the type of outing. Almost had a complete game shutout with a 70 STM pitcher yesterday. It can be done, but you can also use the starter stamina slider to make it how you want it.
