Highly Realistic Golf Simulation Game - The Golf Club - Tees off Today on Steam Early Access

HB Studios Simulation, Complete with Course Creator and Social Features, Now Available on Steam Early Access for PC

Canadian video game developer, HB Studios, today announced its next generation golf simulation, The Golf Club, is now available on Steam Early Access for PC. The Golf Club features pre-designed courses as well as a Course Creator that allows players to build brand new courses and share them online within seconds. The Golf Club Early Access is available for $29.99, discounted from $34.99 for 7 days. Scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One soon, The Golf Club will redefine the genre across both console and PC platforms. For more information, including a host of instructional videos, please visit the official website here.

“With a heritage deeply rooted in building some of the most fun, intuitive and critically successful sport franchises on the EA Sports label, HB Studios are now excited to roll out the first phase of The Golf Club,” said Jeremy Wellard, President of HB Studios. “With integrated social features, a massive online multiplayer mode and a Course Creator that will provide players with endless challenges, avid golfers and gamers can now access The Golf Club on Steam Early Access.”

The Golf Club is designed for 1 - 4 players locally, (from single player to 4-player sofa play), or in an asynchronous online multiplayer mode that allows players to compete against “live balls” and “ghost balls” from other players. Early Access of The Golf Club comes complete with three modes: stroke play, match play and 4-ball, and no loading times between holes.

The Course Creator allows players to build an unlimited number of golf courses which can then be shared and played with friends online. New courses can be generated in a matter of seconds by selecting a theme (Rural, Alpine or Autumn), terrain features, number of holes and difficulty. Players can then enjoy a full suite of editing tools from changing the time of day to placing hazards and objects to create the ultimate golf challenge. Players can also discover new courses built by friends and the community by filtering through rank and difficulty, as well as interact with new The Golf Club members through the Message Center.

Additional social features enable players to challenge friends and attempt to beat high scores and best their own highest recorded rounds. Add to this a myriad of statistic tracking tools, notifications, challenges and much more, and you have a golf club truly worth joining. The Golf Club was developed with the Unity games development platform.

There isn't a career mode or anything implemented in the game.

There are not attributes. Everyone's same level of playing field.

Wow, so no upgrading your player at all? Can you get better equipment if attributes don't change?

# 225 Skyboxer @ 04/27/14 07:53 PM
No and yay for the game not having "attributes" or any other leveling up.
Just my opinion but I like the always level playing field and playing the course and putting on good swings the best. .. deciding the outcome.
Very refreshing

I would like real equipment options but that would mean more costs to develop the game. Maybe in future releases.

Nope.

On PC now all you can do is hop in and play a course - or create one. No stats tracking or anything (outside of ghost balls being saved for others to play against) is implemented yet.

Right, well... I think of my tee shot as a flyer lie. I hit my long irons like 5-10 yards further off of a tee than off of the ground, even when i hit them "perfect" from the fairway.

Played 4 rounds tonight! Needless to say this game is great and will have tremendous replay value with user created courses.

I truly can't wait until we can get a little season going on with this!

Okay, I think I can definitely save you some coin. Your card, according to the performance comparison charts at gamedebate.com, is the equivalent of my Radeon HD 7750 1GB DDR5 RAM card. I have to run the game at 1600 x 900, in low detail. It's really not very flattering of the game and the frame rate is still right around 30 FPS, which on the PC makes the interface feel considerably more sluggish than it should. If I cut it back to 1280 x 720, low detail, I get closer to 40 FPS and the interface feels livelier, but the game looks like something out of the early 2000's, at that res and detail.

This early access stage of the PC version is not ready for prime time, IMO. I can slowly see it getting closer to it, although I doubt it will ever be graphically impressive AND playable on my PC. That's why I plan to play the XB1 version when it's released.

Just finished my second course. Re did most of the greens, I made the breaks on the greens not as harsh as they were before. I think it makes the course play a bit easier than I wanted too but I don't want to artificially create high scores.

Give it a play and let me know what you think!

Course Name: Meadowlands CC
Par: 72
Length: 7310 yards

Sinister, what's your Steam username? Finding courses by Friends is easier to use and I'm lazy

I just typed Meadowlands into the search and it showed up.

I'm going to play it now.

I can already tell that the placement of sand traps is going to make me angry lol

You got me on the first hole already but I nearly aced hole #2, sadly my ball hit the incline and it got ugly from there.

I really like the fact that you took the time and placed objects on the course, such as the bag and gazebos.

The course is tough. I'm playing through somewhat quickly but even if I wasn't, I think my score would still be up there as I'm currently on the 8th hole and sitting at +5.

Your course is making me actually think about club selection, even on the fairway. I have found myself on a couple of holes so far splitting the distance in half and laying up as opposed to going for the green, or changing from a driver to a 3-wood in order to avoid a mid fairway bunker.

I tried to save a couple of videos via Nvidia's Shadowplay but I hit Fn+F10 instead of Alt+F10

Nice job !

Sorry, I'm adding to this post as I play. I will be adding this to my favorites. It will give me something to improve on.

Oh, and I think my final score was +15. Go me!

Changed website program I use so I am re-doing the site totally. Way different layout, but I think in the end, it will be much nicer.

So jealous of you guys and PC's. I want this bad! Almost as bad as I want The Show.

# 240 rolltide1017 @ 04/29/14 09:31 PM
Same here, The Show and this are my most anticipated PS4 games right now, well and The Last of Us remaster.
