Highly Realistic Golf Simulation Game - The Golf Club - Tees off Today on Steam Early Access

HB Studios Simulation, Complete with Course Creator and Social Features, Now Available on Steam Early Access for PC

Canadian video game developer, HB Studios, today announced its next generation golf simulation, The Golf Club, is now available on Steam Early Access for PC. The Golf Club features pre-designed courses as well as a Course Creator that allows players to build brand new courses and share them online within seconds. The Golf Club Early Access is available for $29.99, discounted from $34.99 for 7 days. Scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One soon, The Golf Club will redefine the genre across both console and PC platforms. For more information, including a host of instructional videos, please visit the official website here.

“With a heritage deeply rooted in building some of the most fun, intuitive and critically successful sport franchises on the EA Sports label, HB Studios are now excited to roll out the first phase of The Golf Club,” said Jeremy Wellard, President of HB Studios. “With integrated social features, a massive online multiplayer mode and a Course Creator that will provide players with endless challenges, avid golfers and gamers can now access The Golf Club on Steam Early Access.”

The Golf Club is designed for 1 - 4 players locally, (from single player to 4-player sofa play), or in an asynchronous online multiplayer mode that allows players to compete against “live balls” and “ghost balls” from other players. Early Access of The Golf Club comes complete with three modes: stroke play, match play and 4-ball, and no loading times between holes.

The Course Creator allows players to build an unlimited number of golf courses which can then be shared and played with friends online. New courses can be generated in a matter of seconds by selecting a theme (Rural, Alpine or Autumn), terrain features, number of holes and difficulty. Players can then enjoy a full suite of editing tools from changing the time of day to placing hazards and objects to create the ultimate golf challenge. Players can also discover new courses built by friends and the community by filtering through rank and difficulty, as well as interact with new The Golf Club members through the Message Center.

Additional social features enable players to challenge friends and attempt to beat high scores and best their own highest recorded rounds. Add to this a myriad of statistic tracking tools, notifications, challenges and much more, and you have a golf club truly worth joining. The Golf Club was developed with the Unity games development platform.

Love this game, but I can only play for about a round per session due to the unstable framerate. Makes my head hurt.

Shot 79 on Sky's course, could have been so much better but I bombed the back 9 pretty hard. Really fun course.

Just about done my US Open course. Still haven't figured out what to call the place but after about 3 hours I'm just about done. I just finished playing the entire course and I'll have to tinker with a couple of hole locations.

I think this course plays much tougher than my Vancouver National course. I designed and shaped each green with specific landing area's around the pins in mind. If you fall short or fly the ball past the pin you will be faced difficult long putts. Some greens I easily spent a good 20 minutes on getting the slopes right and making sure the putts were as fair as possible. Some earlier slopes I had made the ball nearly impossible to get near the hole without the ball rolling back 25 feet lmao...

The front 9 are the easiest as the pins are a bit more accessible whereas with the back 9 a lot of the pins are cut near bunkers and hazards. High and low draws + fades are a must. Also course management is important. You need to know when to attack a pin and when to aim to the fatter part of the greens. Better make sure you're accurate off the tee, with these hole locations it's important to be in the short grass.

Here's a screen shot of the approach to 18.

I should have the course published tomorrow night after I get home from work.

Busting your balls bro - nice course. It was challenging but fair, and had a championship venue feel to it.
LMAO...
Glad you liked it my man.

In the middle of my next course. Have the bulk done and just tweaking some things. Should be done in a couple days if not sooner.

Hey new guy here. After 50 hours of working on it, my first course is finished. The guys over at The Golf Club forum seem to really be enjoying it, so I figured I would share it with you guys. It's called Blue Ridge Plantation. The design is based on some of the mountain courses I have played in western North Carolina. Here's a link to an imgur album with photos of each hole, to give you an idea of the course.

I think 6 under is the best score that's been posted so far. If it looks like a course that interests you, give it a go and let me know what you think.

Second time through Falcon CC did wonders for my confidence. Ended up with an 80 and an Eagle, which is my first of hopefully many more. Came from about 120 out in the rough. Vid below if you'd like to see.

That looks awesome. I'll give it a try tonight.

I know another guy is working on a website, but I think I am gonna create one as well to keep track of os tournaments and tours as well os members and have a section for os created courses, maybe eventually making it where you click the course name and go hole by hole with pics and description.

When r we looking for console release? No Mac support???

# 191 TheBleedingRed21 @ 04/25/14 07:20 PM
Quick glimpse of the website I am working on. This is just the home page, trying to decide how to do everything, but any suggestions on the layout would be great! (This is not a seperate club, this will have events of every OS tournament regardless of country club, just will need the owners of those clubs to message me details, etc.)

Well, couldn't take it anymore. Just snagged this off Steam. Looking forward to playing some of the courses designed by OS'ers.

Changed a few things on the site to make it look a little neater, IMO. This is a temporary hosting spot until I get more into the site and get a hosting site. Just used the temp account to let you guys see the homepage and navbar for now.

I will have more finished hopefully shortly. If you have any ideas for it, let me know! Also, my screen is 1920x1080, so that is what I am doing it in, let me know if it looks funny on a different screen size! Thanks.

I'm really digging the look and feel of the website. Keep up the great work!

Thanks man. Working on a drop down nav bar right now and then gonna figure out how I want page transitions.

Just curious, would you guys rather have a free domain (usually contain ads only downside) or maybe get an actual hosting site with our own domain name (say... OsGolf.com)

If the latter, it's $40-50 a year. Would anyone be willing to donate say $3-5 to get it? Figured I could pay the rest of whatever is needed.

Of course I want to have it fully ready and let you guys see it before we even discuss donating for a website but just curious.

I have the specs to play this game but I don't have an HD monitor. Would it be a mistake to buy this game without one? I've never been a PC gamer.

How are y'all going about predicting shot distances? I know the game gives you the "on the fly distance", but I can't help, but think its off. I just hit multiple irons off the tee multiple times with different distances each time. For example, I hit a 5 iron off the tee around 208 w/ 1mph wind at my back. The same hole, same wind, same club, same exact shot (strength and line) went 190. Is there something I'm missing?

Greatly depends on your lie and I think how straight your swing line is plays a role.
