The Golf Club News Post

OK - I have just been informed that there will be an email sent over in the next few hours that will provide access to the Golf Club closed beta today. Myself and any others who were lucky enough to gain access will provide what information we can in this thread. Asking questions is not a problem, but understand we may not be able to answer them all. I will post in here as soon as I have the game installed and have spent spent some time with it.

We just ask that you be patient - Thanks!

Early access is steams way of developers offering alpha and beta builds to consumers to help find bugs or just enjoy it as it goes on. You pay for the game as normal and get every update including final game as you already paid, just get access now rather than later. I love the program personally.

It's only for steam so only PC. Consoles probably won't see anything until actual release date.

So if early access is.. lets say April 15...when would I be e pecting console release? Id love it if it would come out May 6th or May 13th. I could snag mlb and golf in the same trip!

I expect that you have to have a powerful PC or a very good laptop to be able to play on steam, would you know the min requirements for a laptop ?

I don't pay attention to any requirements as I have a gaming desktop and laptop that can run pretty much anything. If the laptop can't, my desktop will. Lol

I would assume once it's optimized, low wouldn't require too much as they'd want to get it to as many people as possible.

Bluengold, sure would like to see new gameplay videos of most recent build. Also, have you tried SmokinJo's no green gird challenge at Diamond Head?

Maybe you could record that round and post on youtube? As always, thanks for sharing info with us non-beta testers (step children)

I would like to add this:

Whatever country club we do, TOUR, tournament, whatever...

We need to have aids OFF as much as possible BUT at the same time:

If guys can only play on LOW settings, they will be disadvantaged at reading greens while my 1920x1080 resolution would allow better shading and breaks.

Since this is cross platform, consoles won't have to worry, but I would advise posting a warning for lower resolution players.

With the aids on, I think we will see -18 scoring, people will always figure out how much break it is cause of the arrows going slow or fast, without it, much more challenge and practice required.

I completely agree!

I'll be speaking with Anthony Kyne from the development team at the top of the hour. Happy to add some questions to my list if you have any you would like to get answered!

#1 question from me if you care..

Will they add more grass options/colors to the editor to differ the courses?

#2

Any estimate if we can get multiple pin locations?

#3

Any plans for 27 hole courses with options to pick what 2 9 to play?

#4

Been asked around community, but do they plan to have a true aim option? Where it does not zoom in and you have to aim from golfer's perspective?

Actually I literally just got done playing Diamond Head with no green grid on, and shot +3(should have been +1) I really enjoy the extra challenge, as it slows the game down and forces you to think. I will try to get another video up tonight, but the last couple of attempts have resulted in corrupted files -

Does anyone know if this going to be a retail game or strictly digital. It doesn't bother me either way, I'm just curious. Hopefully this comes out soon.

HBS has given us 'hard core" simulation guys the option to turn OFF four of the assists we wanted the most in the latest build released this afternoon: Overview/zoom to aim, marker view, shot suggestion (you have to pick your club and/or shot type chip, pitch, flop, normal, punch), and wind meter.

Thanks for letting us know John.

That was posted over at their forums! AWESOME!!!!

I have heard the same, but I am almost sure it hasn't been confirmed by the studious yet.

A new build dropped tonight, and I will make one last attempt at recording after I think I figured out what the software issue was tonight. They have increased difficulty on both drives and putts, eliminated the exact targeting zoom for drives, and a bunch more - hopefully the program records correctly tonight.

Hey blue, if you get a chance:

Can you play a round (with tougher greens, not so flat greens to test how hard it is to truly read them) that has ALL aids (zoom, aim marker, grids, etc) OFF. Keep wind on (unless you don't want to) as I think its fairly realistic to know the wind.

Would love to see the outcome if you get time!!! LOL

# 260 bluengold34_OS @ 03/28/14 10:04 AM
OK - Here is a 9 hole video of me playing a created course with no aids turned on, except wind meter and view of general location of landing.
