NBA Live 14 News Post

Of the 428 players currently included in NBA Live 14, just 32 players have received an overall rating adjustment since the game's November 19 release.

That means a meager 7% of the game's roster has been updated over the past 3 months.

I would assume some people from EA watch these threads and complain about the bashing. Oh well. Stop charging 60.00 for an early beta copy of your title.

King, I saw the same issues and bugs in 2k, year after year, and for the first time this year they actually addressed some of those issues. That's what I'm referring too.

What's wrong with us? We buy a game that doesn't deliver and we're trying to be vocal with our frustrations and the issues with the game, so the devs can get it fixed.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with anyone, besides the devs not addressing real issues.

I'd disagreed there. Unless I am misunderstanding you.

They've addressed plenty of bugs over the years....some successfully, some unsuccessfully, some even resulted in new bugs.
There are also some long standing bugs that haven't been addressed, granted. Point is, they put out 1-3 bug fixes a year, and have for the last 7 years, as have many other sports games. The point is that Live didn't address ANY. Not one complaint in the Bugs and Glitches thread. That's crazy to me.

If Live has tried, my attitude would be completely different.

No there is definitely something wrong with a lot of people. People voicing their frustration and calling them out on things they were supposed to be doing being met with people like you coming in talking about getting on 2K's case too is a problem. First, this is the NBA Live forum, not the 2K forum. If you have a problem with what 2K is or isn't doing, go over there and post about it like the rest of the OS community. Nobody is over there talking about how it's DRM and VC is cool because at least it's not the problems Live has and rightfully so, it's the 2K forums and even if Live is around or not, it's a problem that needs to be addressed. If 2K Sports curled up in a ball and died right now and never released again, NBA Live is a turd of a franchise at this point in time. It's flaws will still be there. So bringing up 2K everytime someone calls out a problem with Live does absolutely NOTHING to correct that issue. The only thing that strategy has shown to accomplish is that you'll continue to get crap served to you for 60 bucks a year. Harsh? Possibly. Truth? Absolutely.

If EA knew anything about marketing, they'd sell Live 15 for $20-30 on Release Day like 2k did with 2k5.

I can't even imagine what Elite and Live 13 would've been if Live 14 was an upgrade that actually released.

the lack of support and addressing real issues with live 14 is another talk, which I'm sure we can agree on.

but the fact the live 14 exist, is the only reason why the other game has supported their game after release.
No offense man, but are you serious?

All I wanted was to be able to adjust the roster and ratings.... It's 2014, how the hell do you leave an option like that out of a sports game!!!

I was fortunate to go back and play NBA Live 10 today, and all you can feel is dissapointed when you compare it to Live 14. They degraded Live 14 so bad its not even funny! The damage they placed on themselves is irreparable IMO. I don't know where their future stands with their basketball franchise.

I think at this very moment the biggest letdown for me is yet again I feel abandoned by EA ala NCAA Basketball 10

A few months back EA producers/Dev were on here chiming in and now that we have SERIOUS CONCERNS, questions about features/bugs that haven't been addressed they go MIA and I'm pretty confident we won't hear from them again until Live 15 and I'm not even holding my breath that Live 15 is gonna happen now after yet another abandonment.

I love competition between titles but hell this ain't competition. This is comical at best

At the end of the day my "Word, Commitment" on different life's encounters with people means everything. No matter how big/small it may mean to someone. If I give you my word I follow through and if I can't you better damn well believe I'm gonna contact you ASAP.

Another thing that dissapointed me was the lie they said about this being a new team. Well I checked those Live 10 credits, and its pretty much the same guys with a few new guys added for this Live 14 project. You cannot buy all the excuses or pleas these companies are trying to feed us. The company and team have been lazy with no true work ethic or vision for this game's future.

Wow, you sure called them out on that! But really; who is held accountable? Is it the Devs or the Suits?
cheers

Can't vibe with you on this man. The devs are not lazy or lacking of work ethic. I don't believe that. I think that these guys are talented, they do have a passion for what they're doing and they do want to make a good basketball game. The problem I think is that they're also full of ego, arrogance and a certain level of stubborness. Over the summer just like every other team at EA since Live 10 and like the team's on Madden, these guys were talking about being up for the challenge of saving/changing the franchises and they understood people being skeptical and so on. Then as soon as the first sign of criticism comes their way they're making excuses and getting upset and blaming review sites and calling people that didn't buy the game "non-hardcore" basketball fans and all this stuff. Every opportunity they've gotten they've made it about us not knowing how to play their game or not playing their game the way they envisioned the game to be played as opposed to making the game the fans have wanted. That to me screams ego and pride more than a lack of work ethic or vision.

They know the game they want to make, the problem is it's really not the same game that it should be.

Wasn't live 10 still updating years after until they removed the patches and shut synergy down?
They updated it the year elite was canceled one last time.

This also is inaccurate. They didn't update Live 10 flawlessly. It was updating, but the rosters still weren't right, hence the OS community members that were constantly doing roster/ratings updates here. We've yet to have a basketball game get default rosters and roster updates correct. The difference is the teams weren't dumb enough to completely eliminate roster editing of any kind from the game. Live 10 was good and all, but let's not let all the pitfalls of EA Sports basketball since Live 10 cloud the picture of what Live 10 really was.

Maybe I'm harsh with my words, but I'm exhausted with how this series has been mismanaged to death. You want to have hope for them and the game, but there has been nothing but disappointment with two games being canned and a game that is seriously outdated. I challenge them to make a great game to win the community back, but I don't think they can accomplish that.

Work ethic = making promises and then actually doing what you say you will.

Lazy = talking things up and then doing nothing.

I will let these quotes speak for themselves:

"Our connected experience doesn’t stop at player ratings – data will also affects the way each player looks. If Derrick Rose drops a new colorway for his sneakers during the season, the new kicks will be updated in NBA LIVE 14. No waiting for a roster update, no special patch, just another piece that gets automatically updated each day. Same goes for new accessories or gear, even haircuts. Anytime an NBA player changes up his look NBA LIVE 14 will be there to make him look right in-game."

"I want NBA Live to be relevant to the NBA fan throughout the entire NBA season, providing data and content updates that keep your gaming experience fresh and in lockstep with everything that's going on in the real world NBA...I'm really excited about being able to update our game within an hour of something happening in the NBA. We're going to be making an enormous investment into this connected experience."

No need to show me the quotes, believe me I already know them. However that doesn't make them lazy or lacking a work ethic. At the end of the day, you have to have a decent work ethic to push a sports video game (any game really) out of the door. We all know the sort of work that EA workers put in. They promised something and aren't delivering. That doesn't mean the guys making the game are lazy, it means marketing is full of liars and telling you whatever they think you want to hear to get your 60 bucks separated from your wallet. There's definitely a difference. Please, don't make me defend them.

The head developer is the guy who made the promises!

Barely a single player's rating edited all season = lazy.

Not even a trade deadline roster = lazy.

Guys on IR for months before being taken off = lazy.

There's just NO other way to say it except that the entire team are either completely incompetent or disgracefully lazy. Roster editors on this site make rating changes for the 'other' game for free / in their own time. These guys at EA are getting PAID to do this. In the time they have been on twitch and facebook, they could have done a roster updated with UPDATED RATINGS. Anyone here could do it in a few hours. There's no other way to describe this other than they took people's money, laughed and left.

Maybe we are naïve thinking these guys give a crap. I mean, there's barely been a single rating edit. Trades weeks late at times. Maybe they are not "lazy", maybe they just don't give a crap.
