NBA Live 14 News Post

Kind of like Derrick Rose's season, NBA Live 14 might just be a lost cause at this point.
It has been 64 days since NBA Live 14 has made its return to sports gamers’ living rooms, but that still doesn’t say much as the franchise is struggling to keep fans interested in a game that lacks both quality and accessible gameplay.

NBA Live was met with backlash when it was first released, which you might say was well deserved.

The gameplay was clunky, the player models looked strange, and the overall feel of the game lacked the fluidity that the game’s main competitor – NBA 2K – seemed to have nearly mastered. After an endless string of bad reviews, EA Sports announced that they would take on a massive project by attempting to fix NBA Live on the fly.

Live feels sluggish for most gamers, but I can see what EA is trying to accomplish here. True to life movements. Still a ways to go though.

I guess this is just a preference thing, but for me it looks like about half of what I see on TV and real life...

I actually just got back from the gym...won 5 games straight...but got ran off the court by some younger guys who basically ran their break to perfection the whole game...I don't see this in Live '14....our big guy couldn't stay with their smaller, more athletic big guy....he couldn't really score because of his foot speed....this wouldn't matter in Live '14, as the bigs have guard handles...and lord knows he couldn't spin move through double teams to win us the game...

as far as impossible movement...I have never seen someone euro step from 15 feet and throw in a layup with their off hand IRL..

It's 100% fine to prefer this game, but I think it's only fair to hold them to the same standard if were going to make these types of comments...

I have to agree regarding the euro step. That needs cleaned up right now.

I very much enjoy NBA Live 14(ps4). I find the pacing to very realistic. I play 12 mins All-star difficulty and i absolutely love it. I also play the other game but only mycareer, when it works... lol but iam really excited for the next patch/update for this game. its not the graphical marvel that we would expect from next gen but we also see what all graphics and nothing else gets us... vc, no servers, and a headache... #GoLIve

I roll with the Heat and only recently noticed that Battier and Allen have the same shot

Sad, because IRL no two shots are further apart than those two.

Hadn't noticed that...

That's funny because Live '10 probably has the best Allen shot in NBA video game history

I think people need to understand that operation sports does not make up the total buying audience that Nba Live is trying to target. You guys like this game, which is fine but its not going to change the perception of this title outside this forum unless EA does something jaw-dropping. The competition has slipped up again with their online issues and VC micro-transactions, but what if they scrap and repair those issues for their next game this year? The pressure to make NBA live great Next gen sports game might be too much for the Live team.

They just said on their Facebook page that details on the next update are coming soon, so keep it locked.

Hopefully by the weekend we'll have something to go by. My job is about to get crazy busy, so hopefully it'll drop prior to the 1st weekend in February. After that I'll basically be unable to play extensively for a while.

let me get this straight..

OS, as a community is all about post release support. articles, posts, etc complaining about the lack of post release support. EA is finally doing that here and now we see a write up stating to stop post release support and just focus on next years game.

LOL. what?

I'm kinda indifferent. I've not actually played the game but I've seen a lot of gameplay and it doesn't look that bad but it doesn't look that good either. Looks pretty mediocre to be honest. I really like the ESPN presentation though. Here's hoping they can make a more solid game in the future.

Sure, if you want to take the most simple approach possible. I think there's a significant difference between looking for post release support for things in a game like The Show but saying cut your losses in moving into February trying to FIX a game like say....Space Jam. There's a difference in that and I know you know this.

I'm assuming you just got the general idea that someone was saying something unfavorable about Live and posted this, without reading the article..

That's not what he was saying at all, lol

Gotcha, I don't necessarily agree with him to the fullest, but I understand his point...and I think it's a fair one...

I have some major issues with this article. I find this thought process kind of half hearted. The reason I say this is I but 3-4 games a year and this year NBA wS one of them. So now I have a game I spent 60+ dollars on that has MAJOR issues and with out any type of compensation the writer has a view point of just moving to the next version of the game just so a cycle date can be met. I do understand that we as gamers are used to this habit. But for me I totally disagree. If I sold you a car that only works on Mondays but I advertised it to work everyday. I know so e one would fix the car to a workable state.

I'm sure we all have different views and opinions but EA has got my house hold for sim City, NBA live, and Battlefield 4. I'm a bit sick of buying games that are critically bugged.

I don't think it's time to scrap Live. I think they should work on upgrading Live 14 as they promised and use roster updates to keep things fresh. Live 14 tanked but from what I have heard, read, and seen it seems Live is making small improvements to make the game more enjoyable. If they were to scrap Live 14 do you really think they would make any money on Live 15....sure some fan boys and 2k haters would buy it but EA would stand to make more money with what they have now.

The expectations for Live are low, nobody expects a mind blowing experience most people just want a different experience than 2k offers and with 2k being riddled with game breaking issues this is the perfect opportunity for EA to stay the course with Live and build on what they have now.

They have lowered the cost of the game, they have maintained the promise to continue to upgrade the game, and honestly SOOO many people are complaining about 2k right now that if Live ever finds it's stride the competition will once again ramp back up.

I honestly think if 2k Sports and EA stopped doing yearly releases and focused more on a two to three year window we wouldn't be seeing all these issues.
great post! starting next year i'm going to start buying games every 2 years. tired of roster updates made out to be a new game

Rumor from NLSC it is that the big patch will come out mid Feb around the All Star break. Here is the link to the podcast if you have time to listen.

Is OS pretty much the only forum that actively talks about NBA LIVE 14? Our impressions thread has more posts than entire Live forums combined

No that's what you want to believe because you don't agree with what he wrote. Nice try though. One game has nothing to do with the other.

I speculated that a few weeks ago already. Pretty sure they will be showing off the updated version to players and fans during all star weekend. only makes sense.
