Honestly......It's not really that bad. Granted I'd never pay full price but it's still a decent game. I truly think they have something to build on. Commentary needs a ton of work. No excitement from them at all. You can easily tell they were in a studio reading a script. Controls are great in my opinion. Yes they advertised it like crazy, but there's something really nice there. The graphics need a lot of work and it looks bad close up. For a ps4 game, it sure doesn't look like one

My last reply is no excuse. I do ultimately believe if EA wanted to put major resources into there NBA live franchise it would have shown in this release. I don't blame the Dev at all because it out was of his hands.

The game is just bad. I could say what's wrong with it, but it's been said to death in this thread. I honestly can't name one positive in this game, not one. Maybe some of the presentation elements.

The two biggest features they touted, dribbling and syngery are absolute flops in my opinion; And I state that again, my opinion.

The dribbling and overall player movement is just sluggish and unresponsive. I've seen better player movement from 12 year olds playing a pickup game at the park.

Now, this synergy data was supposed to make the gameplay realistic? I've seen nothing but the CPU AI standing around while one of them just ISOs the entire time. One game against the Knicks, Carmelo really received the ball with his back to the basket, didn't make one move, dribble, anything. He just did a quick turn around jumper. He did this 5 possessions in a row. All from the same spot, all at the same time in the shot clock, that's pathetic.

That hop step, clip through your defender with no consequence to get a free drive to the hoop, I won't even comment on that..

There is no contact in the paint, none. If a guy puts a shot up in the paint it's going in, one way or another. Usually by some nonsense dunk through a defender standing his ground.

Jumpshooting, it's all over the place. I honestly feel like too many jumpshots are being missed, from all star shooters with wide open shots. This is only a problem from mid range and 3, because as I've said, mostly everything in the paint is automatic. Maybe I need some more time with the game to get jump shooting down, but it was a problem for the CPU too.

The game moves and operates entirely too slow, it's like they're moving in molasses. The graphics, I won't even comment on this, and it's supposed to be a next gen game..

I'm not trolling, but I wouldn't even pay twenty dollars for this game. It's a horrible and embarrassing representation of the sport I love.

I would honestly agree with IGNs review. Whether or not it was written in a professional matter is not my point, but in my opinion the game deserves a score of 4/10 , and I'm being generous with that.

After I finished playing my nightly game of the "other" basketball game I decided to see what Live was all about. The Presentation at the beginning of the game seemed decent enough, but once the game started I couldn't even get through the first quarter. Maybe it's one of those games you have to grow to love or something, but I just don't see it.

Just finished playing a game. Thunder(me) vs cavs(CPU). Game plays just as sorry as it looks on streams and YouTube. Graphically I was expecting it to look better on a 1080p tv. But I was wrong. There's nothing good about this game except for the Christmas jerseys and the sound track is decent.

What a joke. There's nothing about this game that screams next gen. Nothing!!! The game plays sluggish and the animations are from ps2. Played one game and won't be playing another

Call me crazy, but I'm getting it. It's not as bad as these reviews make it out to be. It's actually pretty damn fun.

Obviously, it's not as good looking graphically, but I like the gameplay better than 2K, always have. It's a little rough as far as animations go. While it does some things bad, it does great things too. Dribbling, floor spacing, A.I. intelligence are all great.

If they build off this, this series will be revived.

He says Floor Spacing!

Yea because the players don't even move around! I think what you mean is wide open lanes to the basket. Even Elementary school children could play better help defense.

The A.I. Intelligence he says!!!

Intelligence is not the right word. How about A.I. Stupidity? There is literally nothing intelligent about this game. I know it's your opinion but you just said you like the gameplay better than 2k. WOW! I need a moment to think about that one!!!

I fully agree with the negative comments. And I also see a lot of people who seem to seriously want to love the game and are pulling at whatever they can to like it even more. I have to be honest and say that this game is a true Live Next Gen disappointment and I really wanted to love this game more than or just as much as NBA 2K..............

2K has never played realistically, and it never will. Players are uncontrollable because they are to loose, once you get going one way, it's impossible to go the other. Players sliding around the court, getting sucked into animations, making every 3 you put up, ghost fouls, I could go on and on.

After spending some more time with the demo I am done with this this game. It was fun at first but compared to the other game I just could never make a purchase on this. I think sales are going to be very bad, seriously doubt the suits at EA will want to continue with this series.

Really is a shame too because Live 10 was one of my favorite bball games. If only they could have continued from there they wouldn't be in such bad shape. I truly hope this series continues but I think the public perception is going to be very negative.

Does the game have some issues? Absolutely. The most important question is did you have fun playing? For me, the answer is yes! I played a full game and I did enjoy myself.

No speaking the truth around here. What the hell is wrong with you.

Some just want change. 2k is good but has its issues also.

Live is not very pretty but like I said before has some potential. Im waiting on confirmation on synergy working.

"Truly immersive NBA atmosphere" Really? Oops!

# 76 pdawg17 @ 11/20/13 02:42 AM
One thing positive about this game is the crowd audio is better than the other game. The crowd explodes on a big shot, they yell "3" on a three point attempt and get silenced when the road team hits a big shot. The other game hasn't quite gotten that stuff nailed down.

First impression: This game is clunky but there are some good things I saw on it. I don't know for you guys, but I couldn't steal. I don't think steal mashing is good in this game, that's a good thing.

Players have weight to them, but its not a good weight. They all seem sluggish to a degree. It's very easy to get in the lane. No interior defense whatsoever, no collusion detection as well. I was at the top of the key, practically trying to hump raymond felton and No bump collision, no nothing.

I don't know if its synergy or the difficulty, but carmelo(CPU) took most of the shots. All but two shots. I left my man wide open to see if the knicks would acknowledge and swing the ball to the open man....AI does not detect that I left him open(I am hoping this is due to difficulty) it was almost like the AI thought he was guarded.

I'll have to play with it more and lean the learning curve. It sucks that in the game, you ccannot pull up the controls unless you have the full version.

We'll have to disagree on AI. Left me guy open, on the other side of the floor, JR smith if I recall correctly, CPU never swung the ball to him and carmelo forced a shot in the paint that he ended up missing. There are no defensive rotations. I could be wrong or it could be the difficulty that the demo is on.

Its different and it has a different feel. it has faults, but to call it 4.3 heh I dont know. I need to play it more. The entire game seems like its built for half court basketball. I'm playing with GSW and it feels like I"m playing with the spurs.

Are you actually serious? Please tell me your joking.

"2k has never played realistically, and it never will."

Firstly, I know probably about 2 million people who disagree with you. 2K is not perfect by any means but you better be damn sure it plays realistic. Especially when you are comparing against NBA Live. Don't try and act like you have a brain and say Live plays more realistic. That would be hypocritical. Secondly, do you have a PS4 and NBA 2K14? It is easily the most realistic basketball game ever made. I don't even need to back this up. All you have to do is play it and you'll understand. Saying "and it never will" makes you look like the biggest live fanboy to ever grace the earth. You are literally saying NBA 2K will never play realistic because your love for Live won't let you believe it. Sad..sad...sad.

"Players are uncontrollable because they are to loose."

Mind explaining what that even means? Sounds like the last NBA 2k you played was 2k3. Tell me exactly how they are uncontrollable? The control list in 2k14 is the deepest in any basketball game ever made. If I want a player to do a between the legs, spin move to a step back jumper, I CAN PERFORM THAT EXACT MOVE!

What does "to loose" Even mean? Firstly, you are forgetting an o, but that's beside the point as it seems basic knowledge escapes you. Having the players feel loose and uncontrollable are pretty much two opposites in video games. If a player is loose it means they are free to perform any action at any time which is the opposite of uncontrollable. If you had actually played 2k14 you would know they have almost nailed this aspect perfectly. Much Better than any NBA video game to date, by about 1000%.

"Players sliding around the court, getting sucked into animations"

I take back what I said earlier about you playing NBA 2K3. I now realize your last game was NBA 2K9. I will be the first person to say that game was a slippery can animation disaster. Sure it was fun, but it wasn't realistic.

IF YOU PLAY NBA 2K14 FOR PS4 YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT TELL ME THAT PLAYERS ARE SLIDING AROUND THE COURT!!!!!! You just can't.

"Players sliding around the court"That is an absurd comment. Even more absurd when we are mentioning NBA Live in the conversation. Heck, I'd even say 2k9 has better foot planting than NBA Live 14. I played the demo for 2 hours tonight and didn't see one movement that resembled human physical structure and anatomy. You actually want to bring up foot planting and compare Live to 2k. You Sir, you have gone full ******.

"I could go on and on"

Oh please do, it gives me an opportunity to practice my writing skills and have fun at the same time! It's a win win situation. At least for me that is.

# 80 magicman32 @ 11/20/13 04:15 AM
Yeah I can say for certain after playing both live and 2k next gen that live 14 has way more sliding than 2k14. Way more. Live is slowed down though. But it's very sluggish. That Eco motion foot planting is the real deal. I had no idea until I played it.
