Passing looks disgusting. I mean, absolutely sulphur-dioxide-smelling RANCID. Makes 2K's passing look flawless (which it is FAR from being, it's a big weakness).

They both need to come harder in those categories. I'm buying this either way. It's a good start but like said they're going to keep adding layers of improvements physics scenarios and animations every year now.

2k has the same issues every year with passing defence controls and stupid CPU AI lmao. MyCareer is most likely going to be wacker than be a pro once live comes out. Not feeling the fact I can't edit my face -_- at least implement the ps cam so I could face scan
Jesus ****ing Christ, can anybody, anybody give their own, honest impressions of Live without including 2K in the topic. It's a joke how so many cats can't give a critique about something that's wrong with this game without trying to justify it by including how 2K handles the same issue. The goal is to help Live be better over here, not 2K. Whether 2K handles something well or not is irrelevant especially so when it's still handled like rancid garbage in Live. Stick to Live. Live.

I mean, It wasn't terribad like Elite 11 frm jump, but i has serious rough edges. Now in this vid, there were some REALLY good looking things in the gameplay(That Dragic spin layup o CP3 was awesome, Blake dunking from the post). Then there are serious negatives (lack of first step explosion from anyone, seems like no turbo). All in all, I just want to try it out in the demo to see how it plays and if I could dedicate time to it when Idw play 2k. Because it isn't worth 65$, but later down the road when the price drops it may be worth a pickup if only for presentation alone.

Commentary is horrible

Was just about to mention how dead the game feels without the commentary!...Beat me too it!

Presentation is nice tho,I like the Espn style Scorepad, and the Espn music!...Look NBA Live is not quite to the level that 2k is obviously but certainly looks like a solid building block to build around!....Hopefully they can get a Franchise Mode happening and build a healthy competition between the 2 Basketball Brands!

I can't stand the movement. Still looks way too herky jerky for my liking which IMO is inexcusable on CG let alone NG. Commentary is OK when they are speaking but there is too much dead air and no real flow to it. Feels like Breen reading his line - pause - JVG reads his line - rinse & repeat.

Unlike Madden I think the players are too small for the court which creates artificial spacing. IRL there isn't that much open space on a NBA court considering the size of the players and their respective wingspans.

Defensive player awareness seems a half-second off. There was a plain the 2nd quarter where Jamal Crawford initiates a P&R. Len shows and just runs back to the screener leaving JC to just stroll down the lane. No coach in their right mind would teach their bigs to defend the P&R like that. If you're not gonna have your guards fight through the screen than the bigs have to either show hard or play off and force the guard into shooting a jumper.

Graphically it still doesn't look like a NG game to me and the animations look very poor.

If there's a demo for the XB1 I'll give it a try but if not I'll pass.

I don't understand how people who were involved in the game development of the Live series not getting fired from their jobs already. I mean how many shots can you give them? Must be nice to have a big developer like EA to have enough budgets year after year to cover their mistakes. The players still move like Live 10 with little to no improvement on graphics. When I first saw the Kyrie Irving promo videos, I thought they final came through and made something decent. But damn, I was highly disappointed. Live is done as far as I'm concerned until they replace everyone from the team and start from scratch.

I think there are things that NBA Live seem to be doing better than NBA 2k. It is obviously not going to be as good of a game, but I really love having some variety. I do think the game looks kinda ugly, but it looks like a nice brand of basketball underneath it.

I've always thought that players move and cut off the ball with conviction in NBA Live, and their floor spacing is great. 2k just hasn't improved much in a while, so I am really really hoping that NBA Live stays around and keeps getting better.

Not a fanboy by any means. I wasn't the guy going around saying live sucks. Chill out I'm a fan of both. I can say what I want about both games cuz I do so in moderation.

I think the game is very fundamentally sound, from a basketball standpoint the game ran well, I caught myself talking to the screen "like pull that CP3!", it felt like the players actually thought. Solid base, just needs more animations all throughout and I can already see the game being 20 times better.

Overall they're headed in the right direction, under the hood stuff seems good, just gotta make it look pretty now. Momentum shot animations, contact animations (on and off ball), rebounding animations, post animations, and all sorts of subtle animations.

I would definitely buy it though, maybe not at $60 but buy for sure.

They're the only two basketball games on the market, they're both the same price, except one is dramatically better than the other, so of course people are gonna point out the fact that Live just isn't capable of competing with the other product.

If a ferrari and a ford pinto are the same price, which one are you buying?

EA Sports has some work to do in this next year, I got Madden on PS4, its nice and all, but feels like a port with some new texture, I got Need For Speed on PS4, and it very much feels like a port with new textures. Now sure Madden has some of its current gen flaws fixed like screen plays, kick returns, and what not, but still it feels like a port with better textures and a improved crowd. And as for this NBA Live game, meh it looks like a port. If you ask me it looks a lot like Live 2002 ported from PS2, or maybe Live 2005 ported. By the videos it looks like they have the presentation down pat, and the crowds look great. Commentary sounds horrible, players look more like robots then anything.

But I hope EA has a plan with this game and hopefully they build on it. I really don't understand or believe they spent 3 years working on this game, it looks more like they ported an older version of Live then added in the same crowd that Madden uses, and then maybe worked on player faces and that's about it. Cause if they had 3 years or so to make a PS4 game it would have to look better then this. It should be looking as good or better then 2k14, and it doesn't look close, then again none of the EA games look good as 2k14 does...

And I'm sure your going to tell me in Live 10 or Live 09 that you saw a AI controlled player put up a triple/double on you right???

This is why I don't get excited over EA Trailers that hype up their basketball games.

There's nothing in that video that I saw which looks anything like the player movement in the trailers.

To be honest with you and not to be rude or anything but the players move like little kids on the floor as opposed to graceful NBA players.

That looks like something you'd see at the local YMCA with kids or old farts in a 40 and over league.

It's looks totally awful! Fisrt NBA Live 14 trailer not even close to what I just see.

As always EA sport is trying to fool own customers.

So, I went through and watched all four videos and was EXTREMELY disappointed. Poor graphics. Crowds are awful. And the commentary? Short choppy, mostly generic. Hey EA, pick up The Show or 2K and listen to how it actually CAN be done.
Then I start reading some comments and some people say this game looks good?!
So I went back and re-watched them. All. Thinking maybe I had missed something.
And guess what? I didn't.
I honestly think this is very early PS3-quality stuff.
25-year sports gamer here and always was a big Live fan through the years, but this is an embarrassing effort. I truly can't believe EA spent all this time and this is the result. It's time for EA to cut their basketball losses and bow out.

The visual presentations were impressive.

The commentary, especially the loooooooooooooooong gaps, is awkward.

The graphics are heinous. Blake Griffin is comically odd looking.
