The gameplay is just so bland and dry. I don't see why they didn't release this for current gen.

and this is why not being able to edit jump ratings or shot block ratings is a bad thing IMO.

Why wouldn't they?

I gotta disagree. The game has some type of Synergy data already. The biggest problem is the lack of animations. Kobe wont play like kobe if he has no animations. He can take the shot from the same spot on the floor as in real life, but it won't feel like him because his movement is off. Graphics and animations are the main need for live next year. It looks like they got the game up and running to a point where it plays sound. Once that was in place they had to work on presentation, rising star mode and the other game mode. They couldn't ship bare bones like the start of last gen. The game feels cold cause everyone moves the same due to the lack of animations not DNA data.

And has Anyone noticed the weird arm/wrist movement on the players. It really bothers me when they shoot.

I was pleasantly surprised at game play. As always the presentation is top notch, although the awkward pauses in commentary should be looked at. The fundamentals of basketball are there, and I think that when Synergy is part of the game it will play better. I loved how the players setting the screens looked, really planted into the ground, also unlike 2K it seems that the pick is set on the player, not a piece of the court which is great! Even the rebounding looks pretty damn good. The thing that sells games nowa day unfortunately is graphics. I have to admit the graphics don't look great and the movement is a little awkward but EA are clearly looking to future and I think Live 15 could be unreal if they can enhance the graphics, player movement and physics. Kudos EA, kudos.

We'll just agree to disagree on a few different points here.

For one, Kobe WILL play like Kobe, if the DNA is implemented and he gets his shots in the right spots, isolates the correct amount of time, posts up and shoots fadeaway jumpshots, etc. There's more to nailing the realism of a player than just animations and graphics. The fundamentals have to be there. DNA will take care of most of that.

Second, I don't think the game felt "cold" at all. All of the players were decently represented, albeit with limited player DNA, but you could tell that Dragic was Dragic, Griffin was Griffin, Crawford was looking to score, etc. It played decently enough that I'm truly excited to see what it will look like when the game is updated with proper DNA and the controls are in my hands.

There were more possessions than not that the only one moving was the person with the ball -- that is just inexcusable. As far as I'm concerned, that's a game-breaker, and nothing else really matters.

You have to start somewhere. There a few things that aren't bad in that video.

Hopefully Live 08 will fix some issues like movement, animations and physics.

You don't start by making ridiculous claims, you don't start by having your PR guy talking trash about the other game, you don't start hiding the game days before release and forcing sites to not release reviews, you don't start saying the game was made for next gen and it would not be possible on current.

Not aware of everything and don't count me to take EA sports defense man.

I did not have any expectation for this game, I thought it was gonna suck and it does. Just saying it ain't all completely worthless either lol.

I did expect it to move/play at least like Live 10 - and better. Unlike some posters here, it looks to me A LOT more like Live 07 than Live 10.

The way I see it: the moment Live 10 was done, EA guys tried anything to make a game that was different than 10 and more similar to their older versions. I think it was extremely hard for them to market Live 10, because judging by how much effort they put into changing everything from 10 - they really disliked 10.

I will never understand how some guys think that 14 looks/moves/animates... - plays better than 10, but to each their own.

Anyway, I do respect other opinions here, and if you decide to go and buy the game - enjoy it. That's all that matters - not what someone else on an online forum thinks.

I don't see where a basketball simulation comes into play here...Blake Griffin literally hop stepped and just dunked it. Same with the guy on a fast break, he absorbed contact with the guy taking a charge, yet performed a monster slam? Man that was disappointing...

Looks like garbage.

I think it looks alright. Some of the player faces are inaccurate. However, I really like the presentation and the gameplay looks okay. I'm not a big graphics guy anyway so I may very well check this title out sometime.

Just like I said before live is where FIFA was in 08. Looks like it could be fun once updates and synergy are implemented but expect big improve ya every year. I like the approach they took. The faces look really good but it's very very detail like 2k. The dribbling looks more realistic and easier to control than 2k but the defence looks wack I must say for this and 2k. They both need to come harder in those categories. I'm buying this either way. It's a good start but like said they're going to keep adding layers of improvements physics scenarios and animations every year now.

2k has the same issues every year with passing defence controls and stupid CPU AI lmao. MyCareer is most likely going to be wacker than be a pro once live comes out. Not feeling the fact I can't edit my face -_- at least implement the ps cam so I could face scan

Seeing as how that's the only other game to compare it to, what do you expect?
