NBA 2K14 News Post

Here's some gameplay video posted by Bug (@Weezyy_F_Baby) of the final moments of some first half gameplay between the Thunder and Bulls -- you also get a peak at the halftime show in NBA 2K14 next gen. At one point, you see Derrick Rose being interviewed as he walks off of the court.

What do you guys think?

Live on the other hand always has felt like you were in more control, but the trade off is the jerkiness and the lack of smoothness to everything because they want to give you control. It's crazy, but I don't see this changing that much really anytime soon because the majority of people who want to play what they see on tv outnumbers the people who want to play a videogame.
It's not even the animations, but the tuning and speed of those animations along with just poorly tuned player physics and a clunky momentum system. Couple that with the poor passing system and congested court spacing, the game is going to lack fluidity and freedom. The dribbling system is a good start, albeit one that was taken from other games, but being tuned around the current physics system give it a sense of unresponsiveness as well, especially when going from an iso move to trying to beat your man off the dribble. Most of the times resulting in that awkward step/gather motion before gaining any real speed or burst and once you reach a full speed, it is incredibly difficult to make any quick lateral moves. Again everything feels very methodical.

Live's problem is the exact opposite. They have had the issue of animation speeds varying from movement to movement. Players exploding to the rim from a dead stop, or dribbling animations all of a sudden being drastically slower because of ratings.

From a aesthetic standpoint, 2k's animations have always been on point. Their motion capture game is serious. It's about tuning those animations to make them more functional in game situations. You can have the most beautiful passing animations in the world, but if the ball is taking 3 seconds to get there and another 2 to catch and gather, then what is the point?

On the new topic tho, that Real Voices looks legit. If they in addition say they have in-game wired audio, then kudos to them for that level of detail.

And Thibs looks like a cancer patient lolol

Side note: Are we ever going to see skin tight jerseys?

0:51 - did I just see good spacing in a 2k game?

Foot planting definitely noticeable. Jump shots look nice but still look like they got that automatic feel to them.

Thibs didn't look good at all.

But minus that, the real voices looks awesome.

Only problem…. D Rose looks way too skinny still. He has a good bit of muscle definition IRL.

There were a couple passes that seemed to glitch in between players and go the opposite direction the player was passing, and the movement seemed kinda unnatural. Not saying the game looks bad, just I was impressed one bit.

It looks good, I was just expecting more after seeing the trailer. I'm sure it will look much once I have it in front of me and play it myself.

Dream on... when you will see longer gameplay you will see that it is the same gameplay than in current generation. I don't know where you see some improvements in animation. I see exactly the same movement..

worst players ever on the sticks

but i see great gameplay.....players dont "Warp" towards blocks and defense anymore

i see real risk behind reaching for a steal....once a ballhandler leaves you behind....its over bro

I agree.

One thing I'm wondering about, will Eco-Motion handle injuries too? See someone writhing in agony with it all over their faces as they clutch their shredded ACLs wondering in their heart of hearts "Is this the end of my career?" Teammates feeling despair deep in the pits of their souls at the loss of...

Something or other.

WTF is Derrick Rose still malnourished?

# 260 Hockeynut99 @ 11/08/13 10:00 PM
Spacing is still bad in my opinion. Especially when the defender should have stole the ball so easy when they are that close.
