NBA 2K14 News Post

Here's some gameplay video posted by Bug (@Weezyy_F_Baby) of the final moments of some first half gameplay between the Thunder and Bulls -- you also get a peak at the halftime show in NBA 2K14 next gen. At one point, you see Derrick Rose being interviewed as he walks off of the court.

What do you guys think?

The weird gather animations before dribbles and the rotation logic on defense still not working. Speed and agility still looks misrepresented and passing around the perimeter still looks too slow.
That was user-controlled Noah doing his best to block that shot haha. BUT, I agree that Boozer should have contested. But I don't see the "clunkiness" you speak of. I just don't think this gameplay is long enough to make any serious determinations of what this game will be.

Yeah that would be my complaint as well...nice that they have interviews back...the cam needs to be a bit closer to the interviewer and player but then again I remember the bad lip synching from NFL2k and it looks like its the same bad lip synching but then again it's a start!

Looks like Jeremy Lamb is the go to guy again....game will play badly for us offline users if the rosters tendencies will be out of wack.....

I still think it looks great, but some people here think it's right to bash it for whatever reason.. lol

interview was cool..did seem quick but some interviews are..other then that its same old halftime show since i don't know when..they just re-did the overlays during halftime..the gameplay may feel smoother but i wouldn't know unless its in my hands(its next-gen so it should be) but from what i can i tell the gameplay still reminds of current gen..just alot more animations!

He WAS open a lot. I didn't see anything virtual Lamb did other than shoot open shots. Only time will tell though.

I watched OKC 2 nights ago and saw Lamb throw up 2 threes and a jumper in 3 minutes. It happens

EDIT: And I do understand the problem with Lamb in CG 2k14. Hopefully it's remedied.

Just curious, for those saying "gameplay looks like current gen". What would have to happen on the court for you to say it doesn't look like current gen? Serious question because I don't watch much basketball. Can someone give a specific example of something that could happen on next-gen that could never happen on current gen? (If thats what you mean by looking the same)

The rest is personal perference imo. You can speed up or slow down the game.
But before he gained control, Noah didn't even look to rotate or front the post. Was just following his man aimlessly. He didn't take control of Noah until Lamb was already past. And again Dunleavy didn't do anything, just stood there.

The rest isn't personal preference. Maybe in regards to whether or not people enjoy this game and this style of gameplay. The way the current physics system works, it prevents the game play from having any fluidity or explosiveness that you see in real life NBA basketball. Everything looks so clunky and unresponsive, as it has for the past few years now.

The possession that starts at 1:34 pretty much sums up 2k basketball as it has stood for some time. Slow rotations, a bunch of running into the invisible defender wall, an easily blocked paint shot and then another block on a jumpshot, that if the passing physics were tuned properly should have been off before Boozer ever ran from all the way across the court and blocked it. This also is because of a larger issue of congested spacing and player size in relation to the court that haven't been resolved for some time and also animations that take way too long such as the gather and catch animations.

So you are looking for perfect execution from all players? Even on pro difficulty? If everyone was always in perfect position, made the perfect pass, made the perfect dribble moves. It would look like good but that doesn't seem realistic. I agree that you never want to see a player to look dumb but I didn't get that feeling watching that but like I said I don't watch basketball like I'm sure most of you do. Thanks for the explanation though.

you now that i think about it..it really doesn't matter what system it is on when it come to this game..its just that that it is being made the same ppl so certain things that ppl want changed or fixed haven't been done yet so ppl say it still reminds them of current gen version..not so much because its next-gen cause the things that ppl want could be change or fix on any system really...alot ppl will buy this game on any system

but for i would like more control of my player which i can't tell if this game on next gen is like that or not cause i haven't played it, like for the players to act like they have a brain and think like nba players, referees making the right calls..just somethings i would like to be fix or change but i haven't play the next-gen version yet
