NBA 2K14 News Post

Ronnie2K just tweeted a new MyGM screenshot, with promises of more info on the mode coming this week. In the tweet, Ronnie called MyGM a "re-imagination of what a franchise mode should be."

The screenshot above appears to show a conversation with your owner about the upcoming year's expectations, with an option to respond to his requests via the new conversation engine. In the screenshot linked below, you can see a conversation with a player (Steve Nash) about the direction of the franchise.

What do you think of the screenshot and the potential of MyGM's Conversation Engine?

The same goes for one of the previous screenshots with corey maggette. I'm pretty sure that was in live 10 as well, when you'd have to guess what a certain free agent would find most important.

Smdh. This is getting dang ridiculous man. I'm starting to get insulted. Really thinking to switching my preorder to Killzone or AC4.

Is Erik Boenisch just a placeholder or there will be fantasy owners instead of real ones?

How is something that more accurately resembles what real GM's do (who are mostly old dudes) targetted for a "much lower target age"? Seems like it's the ADHD kids who won't want to sit through chat dialogue boxes and manage staff and personalities.

Also you can turn all that stuff off. You can stop being astonished.

It's kinda weird to have a Next-gen Michael Jordan and don't use it to promote the game....
Come on 2k show it

In all fairness I hope this mode grows next year. I'm disappointed that 2K has dropped the ball on the D-League and really implementing the Euroleague into this mode and Association. And Summer League my goodness what about summer league?! This mode could have many layers to it with adding real GM's and owners of teams as options for people to control all of basketball operations.

How about hiring a coaching staff or moving your assistant coach to the head coaching gig? How about hiring a training staff that could help a injury prone player?

So many things that this mode can do and so much control that people could have with this thing. The possibilities are endless. If you give people options.

Well, lack of information aside I really hope this mode turns out to be awesome. I also hope that our conversations with everyone are more than just blocks of text that we read through.

Also, I might get some slack for this, but when I first saw the screen it looked like a CG screen of the game to me. Nothing about it screams Next-Gen to me, especially not the poorly designed UI, which we've all become accustomed to but still.

Leftos confirmed that there's no need to deal with all that stuff if you don't want to. You have the option to just play the game and forget about the rest.

Alright, I'm gonna say why I like this, and I would hope that other sim guys who strive for realism can agree with me, if not, I'm really not sure what people want anymore.

Looking past all the negative comments in here, i'll say this, some people might NEVER be satisfied. Saying that, here's why i'm on my way to satisfaction...

This screen tells me a few things. You'll have dynamic owner goals presented to you. This means that sometimes you'll have to change your strategy for the upcoming season to please your owner, or, you can do things your way and risk him getting pissed at you, but i'm sure he'll deal with it if you can still win a title.

Second, it forces you to rethink the way you play basketball video games. Your owner wants you to get younger? So he asks you to make some trades to acquire high draft picks? If you want to please him, what do you do? Do you give up some key veteran pieces to get some high picks in the draft? Or do you stick with that old core and try to make one more run at a title?

Maybe the owner wants you to bring in some veterans before the deadline to make a big playoff push? You never know how these dynamic owner/player/coach/media interactions will affect the entire makeup of your team. Personally, that's the big picture with all of this and i'm looking right at it; And i'll tell you this, I'm more than excited to find out what else is in store for this mode.

I'm just afraid that after 6/7 months all the dialogue will be always the same, I played many years with Football Manager and at the end of the day i spent so much time to discuss with agent, players, assistant coach and after some weeks i knew how to make players happy, just give them the right answer also if it was not wath you are thinking.
I think that user like me (and you) would prefer to have accurate ratings and playbook instead of such discussion and feature.
Hope you can understand what I write... My english is always so bad !!!!

Thanks for the information (i did not read about this).
So you also know if should be possible to use custom roster (i.e. Bedwardsroy) ?
And i'm also afraid about the translation of the dialogue... We always have terrible translations in italian...

I'm with you. Very excited to see the potential of this mode if its handled properly and the GM AI across the league is good. My frustration is with the trickling and teasing of information rather than the direction that 2k seems to be headed.

why do we have to satisfy the owner now didnt have to worry about that with 30 team association. Im not liking my gm right now. I just hope they dont take away custom draft classes.

do they realize that all of this info and pics about things other than gameplay and videos are doing nothing but pissing loyal buyers off??? These things are doing way more harm than good...

Why do GMs have to satisfy their owners in the real life NBA? How do you think Lakers management worked for all those years?

And if you saw the screen and info, there are options to tell him to basically shove it and you're gonna do what you want. This adds an entirely new dimension to association mode and i'm so upset more of you "sim" guys aren't seeing it.

I don't see why we shouldn't be allowed to use custom rosters (custom but not hexed), but I guess we won't know for sure until november 15th.

And dealing with translations I have no idea because I always play the game in english. The Spanish Translation is quite awuful.

That's pretty much what I was getting at, as well. It's not that I'm upset or being negative towards the game, I'm just beat down by the marketing at this point. I'm still excited, I just want to see more so that I can get more excited.

As for MyGm, like Gosens I think that this mode has the potential to be awesome. However, there's so many questions and unknowns that I'm starving for info. The only thing we know for sure right now is that we can't control every team like we could in the past and we have to make our owners happy.

Other than that, we don't know if past Association issues have been addressed (player morale problems, teams loading up at unnecessarily positions, trade logic, etc), or if thing like Custom Draft Classes and the real life draft order are in. These things are extremely important, especially since we can no longer control more than one team. Until we get some details I believe that a little skepticism is warranted. Again, not trying to be negative.... Just impatient.
