NBA 2K14 News Post

NBA 2K14 on next-gen looks great, plays great. Features are missing though.

To port or not to port? That is the question.

In 2006, 2K took a different approach to their first game on the next gen consoles. 2K simply upgraded the graphics and ported over all of the features in the current gen version. That was the safe approach and most people were happy with it by and large.

This time around 2K wants OS'ers to know one thing: The next gen version of NBA 2K14 is not a port. But is that a good thing?

Offline full control guy here.... Was really really really tempted after the amazing 2k trailer to break my rule and cop a next gen system before the bugs are worked out( 3 rings of death anyone ?)

So Thank you 2k for being upfront with taking out important features, I'll just wait till next year when hopefully they will be back, no biggie

Hi, The game looks beautiful ... But then ... what will be the game mode to play a full season with a friend to come home?

Man, the removal of features sucks, but that is to be expected with a launch game. I hope they add it back in future editions. still, you'd think practice plays would be in the game at least.

So I guess that if we are playing an association, and a trade happens in real life, the only way to get it is restarting the season??

The possible reason why they removed something is to put it in the future with some improvements.... thats marketing strategy.... they know that if they put some new features and some old features will still be there, what do we think we can get in the near future NBA 2K. for me its a good thing to think that when association will come back it will improve drastically...

Player Editing is the one thing I need to know about. If they've removed player editing, ala Madden, then 2K14 next-gen is a no-go....

I don't think 2k will go that far

Yea seems that way, for guys that like to replicate their season to rotations and trades or signings they see in real life are going to be unhappy.

Im one of those guys, We have no choice now but to join 2k's "My" revoloution. lol

Good write-up.

I'm still trying to find out if in this MyGM we can use custom rosters, custom play books and custom draft classes. If it's anything like Madden CCM and everything is sort of hard-coded based on what rosters 2K uploads to tie-in with their storylines and twitter feeds then I have a serious problem with that.

I never start an association with 2K's rosters because their player tendencies are always out of whack and they're constantly missing players.

And I think that they're trying to shove this whole My Player thing down our throats with MyGM.

I don't want to have to sit there and have a Q&A with my star player and if I answer incorrectly the dude is gonna want to be traded. Why all the role-playing?

Shiny new graphics vs several modes removed?

No thanks. I don't care how good it looks, taking out season/playoffs and association, not to mention custom music is just ludicrous. I can sleep easy that I now don't feel the need to rush out and buy a PS4.

First time I've been truly disappointed with 2k in the last 3 years.

Playing seasons or an Association with classic rosters is dead on this version.

I don't see how it would be possible without 30 team control nor a season mode for a single season replay roster set.

This is why I never go next gen at launch. It takes a couple of game cycles to get everything right....from gameplay, AI, modes and features.

No doubt this cements my feelings about sticking with my trusty PS3 for a few more years.

My association 😢

# 39 cthurt @ 10/24/13 11:58 AM
I hate that im getting a Madden CCM feel from the new MYGM mode in 2k, but its hard not to when they took away things thats been in the game for years, I never like EA's way of taking out old features just to bring them back later as new features, but this is a new system so I wont be to hard on 2k, if I can get a confirmation on custom rosters then I can get back to being excited about this game.

I'll just say I'm glad I kept my 360. I'll be playing a 30 team association with custom music and having a blast. I'll still get the next gen version for myPlayer. Don't why any myPlayer fan would not get the next gen version with all the improvements
