Let's not kid ourselves about compression of the video. The way it moves will still be the same no matter what definition its in. I am disappointed because the player movements are still the same. Yeah it looks better, but we knew that. I wanted the player to transition from animation to animation better. I know ima get hated on, but I keep it real. Its not a big jump as you guys made it out to be and now its hard to say the truth. Its still 2k14.
I have to agree with you. The "true to life" feeling that the trailers had, is a little bit disappeared in the gameplay footage
Maybe I'm the only one who plays in sideline view--lowest height and zoomed in all the way, but it allows me to see the details of the players, but still play the game. I don't play online often either.
To be honest, it looks like a port to me. A port with some improved graphics and a little better foot-planting. Physics look similar and still very animation based, the ball tangibility looks the same as it does on current gen to me. The way LeBron lost the ball in that bleacher report video looks exactly like the way he would lose it on current gen.
Now the game looks good don't get me wrong, and will probably be the first game I buy for next gen, I love the MyPlayer idea by the way, that's something I've hoped for in basketball game. Where you get in an environment and it's like an MMORPG with basketball players. So cool.
It just seems like Ronnie and LD sure do know how to hype up a game, especially the way they were hyping crews and it became so underwhelming. Overall it looks like 2k, not a bad thing in any respect, but I expected to be blown away by real life looking gameplay not just graphics. Can't explain what I mean but I just had an idea in my head and when I saw the gameplay it wasn't the idea that I had.
The battle between Live 15 and NBA 2k15 should be a dogfight. Will 2k be able to keep all of it's fanbase and run away with the crown? Or will Live be able to step in and offer the basketball gaming genre something fresh and unique?
Please let the online be playable! It's almost my only major concern, rarely will I venture offline, unless it's to build up my MyPlayer for online. Good servers 2k please!
Hats off to 2k for being the first Next Gen game to show us actual gameplay. Not sizzle trailers, not zoomed in gameplay with fancy marketing tech terms, but actual gameplay. I thought that 2k was already a good game, if they improved upon it, which it looks like they did, then good.
I don't know, I actually thought the graphics were going to be better. I know it is hard to tell on these compressed videos but after the sizzle trailer this gameplay footage looks way more gamey than I was hoping. I think a lot of people on his forum are biased. Not saying that this will look bad but the 2k fanboy is projecting an image that I am just not seeing.

To be honest, I have just about zero faith in any competition stepping up to offer something worthwhile. And that kind of bums me out because I would like to have the ability to pick and choose which type of basketball game I'd like to play based upon what caters best to my needs in various regards.
As it stands, 2K offers the only legitimate gameplay so if I'm in favor of non-RPG elements (i.e. a real Association mode, not one run by my MyPlayer) I don't really have any other option aside from moving toward a game that hasn't been able to produce a feasible product in years.
That was kind of the cool thing about the early 2000's. EA was the gold standard throughout the mid to late 90's in terms of simulation basketball. Then they began to drift a little bit, introducing some strangely arcade-like elements. I began to grow dissatisfied. Thankfully, there was an alternative in the relatively unknown (but steadfastly realistic and authentic) NBA 2K2.
The difference now is there's no real alternative. If 2K, with it's nice gameplay, decides to take their off court content in a fantastical direction with made up players, dramatic rivalry discussions, and packs of cards, I'm just kind of stuck.
I have a thought that the eco-motion engine was ported down to the 360 and not the other way around thats why they're making a big deal of it for Next Gen.

What does being first mean exactly ? I mean I didn't know it was a race and I'm pretty sure there was a sizzle trailer with zoomed in edited gameplay from 2K, maybe it was a dream ...lol
Unfortunately I think we're seeing the limits of next gen in sports titles anyway. Most of the gameplay is zoomed out and don't think we'll see a huge change with any game. Sharper, crisper ...sure. The details not so much from afar.
Haven't played since 2k12 so I am pumped for this!!! Looks great. I don't think we will ever get a completely smooth photo realistic game, the human body can move an infinite amount of ways and there is no way to capture all that for a video game

I guess 2K want to play it safe by not changing the game play that much and i knew they're going to keep the game play of the current gen. Why would they want to change the game play that get a high review every single year right? It is the reason i don't buy a NBA2k game after 2k7 because of the slow game play due to animation and physics. I was hoping this next gen w/ the supposed NEW ENGINE will break out of the current gen and take the game to a NEW direction w/ regard to game play....i guess i am wrong and that's why folks are disappointed. My hope and hype jump from 150% after the OMG trailer to 50% now. I really don't know how much the game play have advanced since 2k11. I didn't like how it was a bit slow in regard to responsiveness of the control due to animations or physics of the game.
With that said, i still probably going to get it due to the realistic of the graphics and overall look of the game but i still need to demo the current gen to test out the game play first.
That's hilarious, I never seen that! And for all the Live people, your game is coming out so BUY it and quit trying to inject negativity into the 2k. I'm happy 2k didn't change the gameplay nor the flow of the game, 2K is perfect to me. Also we have yet to see the classic teams and player emotions, that by itself is going to be awesome to me. NG MJ will blow you away EA
The game looks great. I was expecting it to play similar 2k14 CG as for a animations. I didn't expect 2k to change how the game animates. The animations actually look more fluid and detailed (ie. the pick by bogut). I still see a little bit of sliding. Mainly when the players catch the ball and on defense. I hope they can eliminate players warping to the ball on the catch though because that messes up spacing.
2K has a great foundation to build coming into next gen.
I can't wait to cross someone up with d-rose, or throw a no look with Magic. This game is going to be a beast, especially looking at it on my tv. I can't even imagine what future 2k's will be like. Wow!!!

Don't worry. We haven't seen straight 5 on 5 gameplay from the other game. It won't look, animate, or play better than this. Basketball is hard game to recreate.
