Another next-gen Madden NFL 25 video has arrived, showing nothing but zoomed in footage from a simulation of tonight's match-up between the Indianapolis Colts vs. San Diego Chargers.
As if this whole thing couldn't get any more bizarre, look at these tweets from Phil Frazier, former executive producer for Madden.
Owen Good @owengood1h ESPN corrected me, said they did not reupload today's Madden next-gen video. I asked why they took it down. They told me to ask EA Sports.
Phil Frazier @Fillycheze47m@owengood That footage is clearly 360. My guess is the capture team didnt realize they had to use X1. It was probably pulled for that reason
Owen Good @owengood38m I honestly—hand to God—thought ESPN had screwed up this morning, and used Xbox 360 Madden footage, calling it Xbox One. Details
Back in the day 2K wasn't a big or popular name, but now I would say 2K is just as popular a name as EA is. NBA 2K has made a big name for 2K. 2K also just picked up the WWE games. The company is expanding and making a name for themselves. I don't know if you have seen the casuals comments on the next gen footage but they are as outraged as we the sim community are. NBA 2K is highly regarded amongst fans. At this time a 2K football game would definitely be able to compete with Madden. Back in the day 2K didn't have the name they have now. Times have changed and I would be willing to bet people would jump on the 2K bandwagon. They see what 2K has done for basketball and they are also getting tired of Madden. As a combo that is exactly what 2K football can take advantage of.
No one is questioning that fact. What some of us are saying is this, can 2K afford another partnership with the NFL? Will the NFL actually end it's relationship with EA?? Will the NFL even want to do another partnership with 2K??
EA is a giant company, 2K is big, but nowhere near the level of EA. EA can comfortably afford an NFL license, no one knows if 2K can or not. We don't even know if 2K still has the resources to even attempt to make another football game.
The NFL LOVES it's relationship with EA, they're raking in big bucks, and contrary to what a lot of people believe, the NFL does not care how realistic this game is, as long as they're not painted in a bad light.
Also, let's not forget one of the reasons the NFL started this partnership with EA in the first place, 2K made them pretty mad selling 2K5 for $20, we have to question whether they would even want to work with 2K again.
I know guys are upset, and I know guys want another football game, but it's time to start thinking realistically
It could be some type of special rendering. Either way, every single animation in that clip was canned animation. Nothing organic at all which is what we are all craving.
Either give us realistic, seamless animations that make physics sense or give us real time physics that look good.
Instead we get a mix of both done poorly.
Let's please stop the 2K/EA discussion, thank you.
what do they think that we are morons?? the coaches have headsets.
Wow...
That's the only thing I can say to this is wow. The video was clearly next gen, from the stadium, to the coaches wearing headsets, you could tell it was next gen (Barely)
Don't worry guys it was a different build now... LOL... How many builds do they have of this game? Seems like we see a different one each week...
Scott Burress @ExtremeGamer 20m
@Fillycheze @owengood Also, it's a different build than current Madden with Trent Richardson having the wrong jersey # and coach mics.
Even so if it's another build. At this point it won't look night and day difference from the current version. Slight graphics res/bump. It is what it is.

2k hoops is undoubtedly cream of the crop. Let's not get crazy with the whole 2k name brand thing though. They BUTCHERED Major League Baseball, and got their hind ends handed to them in the NHL area, so much so they gave up and haven't even tried to compete.
You mean y'all don't like EA's animations!?! ITS TRUE TO THE GAME!!
Oh man, I laughed my *** off! That's all you can do anymore anyway isn't it. A gif of Gordon just turning around and back would be even better. By the way, at the :28 second mark of the Chargers Colts vid from today, 96 of the Chargers stares at Lucks pass into the endzone coming directly at him, is in perfect position to make a play/pick, but for some reason appears to have some type of seizure, have they coded defensive seizures in this year? Maybe the madden player models are starting to have chronic traumatic encephalopathy

I wouldn't say butchered MLB, but definitely wasn't up to par with The Show. However, it isn't the point. We know they made an awesome football game and have a portable engine (unlike madden). At this point I just want the license opened up so someone can make an alternative..Look at these 2k vids and watch real football on a broadcast can and presentation. Madden looks awful, comparatively.
This is the bottom line, unless that somehow was some 360/X1 hybrid, if your focus was player movement with True Step and you cannot immediately distinguish if it is current gen or next, you have failed. Period, no other way to see that.

What are they saying? a different build than current gen Madden? well yeah, this is supposed to be the next gen version.
If it's not NG footage it is some special rendering. From coach headsets, to improved fidelity of textures and lighting like the sheen on the artificial field in the Week 4 clip, and player model detail. The problem is the animations still look awful.
I just can't believe after the Madden 06 NG launch that things seem more mysterious this time around, and the quality of the product is just as much in question.
Why does the NFL care about Madden sales. They get the same money regardless
I would care if a third party company is using my product, i would want said product to do well, even if i get the money regardless of how the product is perceived.

I'm pretty sure it's next gen footage. They are just using excuses after seeing the reaction from the video. AGAIN.

That's the difference between you in the NFL. They could care less how the game plays, as long as it's not like NFL Blitz, and as long as they're getting their money, THEY DO NOT CARE.

That's not how businesses work.
If you already have your money, there is zero concern about the other business entity.
If you need a comparison, it's no different than a team grassing a player. Once that player is gone, the team that traded him has zero concern with what he does. Only what they get in return.
Here's the thing. If the game wasn't fixed/corrected moving to next gen then it's not going to happen anytime in the foreseeable future. Just more trying to plug holes and add-ons to a game that should have been re-written from the ground up upon moving to Next Gen.

That's not a good comparison, once the player leaves he is no longer representing my team, which is different from this situation. Madden NFL is supposed to represent, you know, THE NFL.
I would imagine they have, otherwise this would be another fail in this game, IMO. EA paid a lot of money for the ESPN license and i have yet to see they properly use it in a game.
